After my favorite lab (60 Minute Photo) closed in November of 2012, I was beyond sad. I tried another lab in the area but they continually messed up the last frame of my rolls of 120. I headed to Moon after a recommendation from a friend. Both Bob and Carlos (a former 60 Minute employee) were very helpful and happy to work with me to resolve the issue that kept happening with my film at the other lab. I gave them two test rolls to develop and then 25 more after those worked out well. Moon is by no means a '60 minute' lab, but I'm willing to wait to have my film developed correctly. I'm fortunate at 70 years old to have a very good friend the same age and have been friend for 67 years. When my Mom passed away I found a picture of the two of us in Ballard where I was living then next to St. Alphonsus Church. Very few houses left on the block and the house I lived in is now apartments. The house in the background of the picture taken in 1959 is still there. We took a picture in the general vicinity of that one December of 2020. I discovered Moonphoto and took both pictures to them with the hope of combining them. One black & white and one color. I dropped off both pictures Dec 14th and talked with Hayla on what I wanted. We worked for over a month to get to a finished product and both learned as we went. She was absolutely wonderful to work with and I had a good feeling of what I was going to see. I picked up the picture Jan. 30, 2021. It was beyond my expectations. Everyone I have shown the picture to has commented on it being one of the best pictures they have ever seen. I could not be any more pleased with Moonphoto than I am. Hayla is a master. I apologize for not showing the picture but with all of the privacy intrusions of people these days I'm not comfortable doing so. You won't go wrong with this business. read more

As someone who is just beginning to dip their toes into film, I searched for a lab nearby and moonphoto came up in my neighborhood. I checked online at the prices and decided to give it a shot. I knew that it would be a bit of an investment, but figured I could develop and print two rolls of film for a reasonable price. I explained that one of the rolls was older and I wasn't sure if it would turn out but was not told that I would have to pay for the film even if it didn't turn out. In the end I had to pay nearly $70 to get one roll of film developed. This was not explained to me when I dropped the film off and I was not quoted a price. how ridiculous! Although the quality is very good and I was pleased with the photos that did turn out, I don't believe in this kind of service and have wasted WAYYYY too much money for 36 photos. I was charged for the development, the CD, and the cut negatives for a roll that did not turn out. Will NOT be returning to this business ever and will use a different lab that does not charge such ridiculous amounts/is more upfront about their prices, especially to photographers who are less experienced. NOT WORTH THE MONEY OR TIME. Very upset customer here. read more

I was referred here by a photographer friend, when a 10 year old sepia portrait started showing discolored spots. I didn't even have a digital coy, only the print, so I wanted it fixed up right! The result is even better than I'd hoped for. The portrait looks better than new, and I got several copies made. The cost for prints and retouching work was extremely reasonable. I had inherited (100's) of negatives that dated 1890-1940 & most were odd-ball size. So, on my next visit to Seattle, I took my "mess" into Moonphoto and was very satisfied with customer service, honesty, and all promises made actually happened on time. The price? Well, I knew with the sizing issue & quantity it wasn't going to be cheap. However, a deal was made that did't make me bankrupt & a decent profit could be made for Moonphoto. Most of the negatives are very rare & so very precious to me. Finding someone who cares, is truly friendly & understanding is hard to find these days. Old time artisans are fading away. Moonphoto did a GREAT job for me! I recently showed up at their store needing a custom 11x14 enlargement and some slight photo corrections. I'm not a professional photographer. My photo was surprisingly selected for a public exibition. I drove from Kent to heve the image enlarged and printed. When I told Bob, the owner that this photo was for an exibit and that I drove from Kent, he did all of the photo adjustments immediateily. He had a printed, framable photo within 30 minutes. I am so thankful. He saved me another trip during rush hour. The final results wer Outstanding, and his professional service was excellent. Had MOONPHOTO scan some recently discovered 35MM rolls of B/W film that turned out to be 50+ years old and a few single 120/127 sized negatives from WWII that my father had taken while overseas. Bob was able to "sharpen" a never before seen picture of my dad and make a quality 8 x 10 photograph out of a slightly out of focus negative. Digital photography is killing the local film based photo shops, there are only two left in Seattle. Nothing compares to having service provided by looking over your negatives and discussing development options one-on-one with the people who will do the job for you. These guys are solid. I've been running 120 film through an old brownie camera and have taken several rolls to Moonphoto. They develop the negatives and scan to a CD. The quality of the scans is always good, the negatives are neatly cut and they give me back my 160 spools too. Price is fair or a bit on the high side, I think. But I am willing to spend a bit more to support a local business and a dying medium. read more

The customer service is really excellent- they really bend over backwards to make sure the work is done, and done well- and if they can't do it, they're always ready with a recommendation. It's spendy but it's the very best I've found for processing any film, especially black and white. They even process multiples when you have double exposures to give you the most from your film. Awesome. read more

I develop my own film and when I don't I send it out to a lab in Butte to have it developed and proofed. Then I can make prints from the negs etc... The problem with Moon is the snootiness about B&W film. I love B&W It is literally all that I shoot. But, I was given some BW400CN and I had brought in the negatives to see if I could get proofs of about 100 negs. Let me interject here that I am a heavy guy with marginal hearing that makes me talk a little too loud , especially after riding my motorcycle, as I did that day. I came in and was my friendly self but the lady behind the counter - a middle aged thin woman - greeted me with a look of disgust that nearly withered me. I am a little slow to respond to insult so I continued by explaining that I usually sent my film and negs out to Montana to have them proofed and I was looking for a place locally that would do these for me. The first words out of her mouth were a challenge to name the city in Montana where I send my negs. I said that I thought it was Butte and she asked me if I was sure. I asked why knowing where I sent my film was important. She responded by telling me that she was from Montana and it was her experience that most people can't name more than a couple of cities - in a tone that implied that I was one of those people that had not properly prioritized memorizing Montana cities. I let that slide as well and asked if she could create proofs from the BW400CN negs that I had with me. This apparently was too much - not only had I failed to somehow not disgust her and recite Montana cities from memory, I was using crappy film. I explained that it was some film that was obtained cheaply and I was just testing some tolerances in my Rollei. I said that I had heard that it was a really flexible film and I wanted to see... and I got no further. She interrupted me with "I KNOW WHAT IT IS." What followed was a litany of reasons why I shouldn't use that film and why she was not going to be able to get any quality out of the negs. This whole last exchange was loud enough that people who had long since stopped looking at me for being loud returned their heads in our direction to get the visual as well as the audio of my scolding. I was stunned and left the negs and asked when they would be done. I was dismissed with "Sometime next week" and a receipt. I left and went and recovered from the shell shock over a beer. I then called the shop and spoke to the owner. I told him my story and my frustration and he immediately became curt and asked me what it is that I expected him to do. I told him that I expected nothing and would be by to pick up my film in a few moments. He queried me by asking me "You are taking back your business because you don't like the lady at the counter?" I explained, I was not planning to have to feel anything about the lady at the counter, but now I feel humiliated. He said "Fine, your film will be ready when you get here." - And he hung up. I went in and asked for my negs and a girl handed them to me, As I took them, the 'First Lady of Montana', as I now think of her, said, " I'm sorry it didn't work out." I said nothing and left. All in all a negative experience (no pun intended) I shoot a lot of B&W and I was looking for a place to handle my developing needs. It will not be Moon Photo. But, I bet there is a good lab in Billings or Missoula or Great Falls or Bozeman or Helena or Kalispell or Whitefish or Flathead or... read more

We made the mistake of taking our precious pictures, which had been faded by the sun, to a different company (their name starts with a "P") for restoration.
