Not great food in a loud environment and long waits for items to come out. They do live music at times but without that there are not many reasons that outweigh eating at home. We ordered a couple pizzas which took a good bit of time to come out and little taste in the crust (plus they were thin and heavily cooked so it was more of a cracker). The drink options are not listen anywhere so they just have your standard options. Venue was very loud and even though we were inside, our table was bothered by several flies. Plus the "plates" we got were tiny styrofoam and only worked okay because the pizza slices were so small. A group of us from our cabin crew regularly visit this local hotspot in the summer. It's right off Crosslake and the Whitefish chain. They've got a small harbor to dock your boat and walk right up to the restaurant if you come by sea. Otherwise, it's easy to access from the local highways around. The atmosphere during the summer months is always buzzing and happy. Plenty of people coming to relax from a long drive north or from a warm day on the lake. It's a great spot for local musicians that play to entertain the seasonal visitors and the regulars from town alike. Tonight was a typical busy summer night. The outdoor seating is first come, first served, so we waited around to grab a table in the sunshine. Our waitress was great and, as busy as she was, was really attentive to us. We never spent too much time without something to drink. She also took our order quickly and the food came out in a really reasonable time for it being packed. The food was delicious! We had a variety of dishes at our table, from a stir fry to pizza to a gluten free "wrap" platter. I had a Bilski Burger covered with cheese, bacon, and "Gold sauce". A side of tots to complement it. The burger was cooked wonderfully and tasted fantastic. Everyone had great food and we all pretty much finished it all up. I'll continue to come back to Moonlite Bay. The service consists of your average local waiter and the hustle and bustle of snowmobilers and locals mixed with people coming from the city. Has this location usually busy. The bathrooms are clean and there is an ATM present. The drinks were quickly brought to the table and we only had to wait about 15 minutes for our food. Two adults having non-alcoholic beverages and two meals without an appetizer or dessert cost 40$ without tip. I am pretty picky when it comes to the quality of my beef, but the french fries were crispy and the hamburger didn't have any grizzle. read more

Moonlite Bay has one of the top views on the chain to enjoy a meal! We were up North for the Summer and had several meals here. Service was always good. Just like the other restaurants on the chain, staff here was always friendly but seems to get younger every year (mostly high school/college aged). Listening to live music while having a meal here is a nice experience. If you're a fan of a decent, spicy burger, I highly recommend the Inferno Burger (California Style). The Caesar Salad Wrap was also quite impressive and nice detour from all the fried food available on the Chain. The clever and creative bathroom signage adds to the comfortable, friendly atmosphere. Consistent with most of the other restaurants on the Chain, Moonlite is a little pricey, so we limited our visits. The upcharge to change the chips that come with your entree to anything else is a bit steep -may as well just get your chips and buy a side of whatever other side you'd prefer. read more

Server had attitude and talked down to us, none of our food or drinks were good or what we expected, a steak was completely overcooked and the drinks had the wrong alcohol in them. When ingredients were requested off of a sandwich, they were left on. Server was dismissive and blamed us and the bar for the mistakes, would've completely understood the mishap if she wasn't so condescending and rude. Will not be coming back I do not recommend at all. Moonlite ha shade some great strides lately - the food is still killer and they are doing their best to shift with the changes of COVID that has affected them this summer season. Sanitizer is provided at every table, disposable menus, takeout available, all staff in masks and/or shields, things are constantly being cleaned or wiped, and they are very much enforcing no more than 6 at a table unless you are family. Their ticket times are slow with its busy which is something to be expected. They offer dockside service now too and the best part...THEY SERVE BREAKFAST NOW!! So awesome to have another replace offering breakfast/brunch in the chain. Simple menu to choose from and all really great staple items. Keep it up moonie! We support you! read more

We went to Moonlight Bay on a Thursday evening. It was trivia night. We got there a little late, but were still able to join for the a few rounds. We got garlic cheese bread as an app. It was very good. I got the halibut sandwich. It was really good! The dill sauce that accompanied the sandwich was amazing! Just know what's in your food. An allergen menu would make it really easy. After managing to avoid the land mines of ignorance that hold this restaurant. The food is pretty good. the chips and fries are tasty, the tater tots were fine. My parents said Wild rice and chicken soup was quite tasty and the wraps were solid. Moonlight Bay has opened a classy, nautically-themed new restaurant called Pub 33 on a new second level with a separate kitchen and upgraded, healthier meal options, plus a fun bar. They've only been open a week, so they're likely still working out the kinks, but nonetheless we had a friendly afternoon experience with scrumptious walleye sliders on brioche, followed by gluten-free-crust flatbread with pesto, tomato, and mozzarella that we ate all of, even though we were full! First, you guys need to hire a health inspector, our waiter gave us two pitchers one with water and the other with root beer, they smelled like liquid ass, I swear to got y'all scooped it straight from the sewer. Second, my daughter said she felt the need to eat sugar packets for dinner because her burger (she said it looked like a burger from McDonald's) had a piece of hair in it. Disgusting. Last, we had to wait 30 mins in horrid conditions, the pool tables were full of trash, beer bottles and capsule toys. I was blown away. It really did shook me that you would do that to your customers. And I can't forget that you guys had no soap in the woman's bathroom. Of the 4 places right on the chain where you can eat, I rank this as the best for bar food, wraps, and pizza. To be honest, that is what I generally want when I boat somewhere for lunch, or want to sit on a deck over looking the water. My favorite thing is the Blue Canoe, a messy wrap with both pulled pork and slaw. Tasty, a bit hard to eat, and sort of perfect. The pizzas are way above average. The burgers are decent. The drinks are strong, and the whole staff is about making people feel at home here. Overall, probably the best spot for predictable (I don't mean that in any sort of negative way) food and drinks. Throw in a DJ and some dancing (if your inclined) and what's not to love here. read more

I've been coming up to this part of the world for decades. We usually go to Manhattan Beach if by car or the Wharf if by boat. Mixed it up this time and did Moonlite Bay for lunch. It was a good experience. It was busy but we lucked out and got a table outlet side in the shade right away. My sister had sunfish tacos and LOVED them. I had the elbow dripper (or something) bbq pork wrap. Mine was okay, needed way more bbq sauce and was a bit fatty. I got a side of sauce and it was much better. Service was efficient, they were very busy so a bit rushed. I don't mind that given the circumstances. It was a good enough experience that we will likely be back here over our "traditional" choices. read more

We had a terrible experience at Moonlite Bay. We had a joint bachelor and bachelorette party and were dropped off by our party bus at the bar. We had to go through security to show our IDs, which was no problem since we were all 28-29 years old. However, we had one out-of-state friend, who is in that same age category, have problems getting in. The bouncer determined the ID was fake, refused to let him in and then stole his ID. We had a few older people in the group, our parents in their 50s try to step in and vouch that his ID was indeed real and that he needed it back, the bouncer refused. We then had no choice but to call the police on the bouncer because the guy had to fly back the following day and literally needed his ID to go back home. The police come and (obviously) share that the ID was in fact real, but the bouncer was so ego-upset that he still decided that we couldn't enter the bar. We weren't too concerned because with how rude he was to us, we didn't want to give them our business. However, we had to wait for the party bus to come back and throughout the whole fiasco we were there for 45 minutes. Because of that, quite a few in our group had to use the restroom. The bouncer even refused to let any of our guests do this. He told us that we could be perceived as a "threat" as we had been angry with him (rightfully so), but we were in no means disruptive and violent. As mentioned, we had our parents with and would not be getting that way ever, but let alone with them with. The people that had to use the restroom had to go and actually get police permission to pee outside (which was granted, because it was obviously ridiculous we were not able in for the bouncers mistake). I am appalled by how we were treated, and this place does not deserve business if they treat customers like this. read more

I agree with others on this bar-cougar city! When you first walk in, you enter down a staircase into the bar, for alll to watch you appear. I kinda liked it, but my friends thought that was a great way for everyone to rate you before you really even got into the bar area! I would also add that there happened to be a front row section of old men who pulled their bar stools almost to the dance floor as if there was a show going on. They never said a word to each other, just kept ordering beers and staring at the ladies dance, as it if was all for them! I was out here for a bachelorette party at a friends cabin and this was one of the bars on our list to stop. I had been here before in the past, but this really seems to have become the Saturday night dance club of the north! All kinds of peeps come out to play here! Excellent people watching! I've been there multiple times and food was over all pretty good. I loved the pretzel bites and wings!! The ribs were good too. The chicken drummies are okay, I personally don't like the breading but if you are looking for some good breaded fried chicken they would be perfect. The Cajun chicken sandwich was not the best, it resembled a fast food chicken sandwich. The little moonies were also okay, I was thinking that they were more cheese curd like with ham, but they are more like a ham ball breaded and fried with a bit of cheese. I have never written a negative review before but after the horrendous experience we had at this establishment I feel I must. Yesterday my friend, her 24-year-old daughter from Nashville and I stopped for a drink to celebrate my friend's birthday. The server took our drink order and then another server came back to the table and said she needed to verify my friend's 24-year-old daughter's ID. About 10 minutes later the server still had not come back with the ID and we asked her about it, she replied that they were still working on it. We wondered what they were working on since it is a Tennessee Real ID. Now 20 minutes of waiting, the server finally brought over 2 of the 3 drinks we ordered and again, no ID. We questioned why it was taking so long with the ID and she curtly replied that there were still trying to verify the ID. We assured her that it was a legitimate ID and all they should be able to scan an out of state ID easily. She became very defensive and told me that I was being rude to her, which I was not. I asked her if I could speak to a manager, and she told me I could go talk to one of the bartenders. We asked her to bring our bill and the ID and she then said, "well by your behavior something is obviously wrong". There is another recent review posted with the same issue regarding an out of state ID. They are a bar and should be able to verify out of state ID's. Bottom line, we were completely disrespected and treated horribly by our server. They did not value us as a customer and in fact could have cared less about us. If I could give them a zero star review I would. read more

Being on the lake is a huge advantage for Moonlite. It is the place to go on the Whitefish chain for nightlife and it has plenty of dock space to park your boat. Its usually busy during the summer months and its hard to find a table on the patio on nice days. The food is average, but the service is the worst. Disclaimer: **This review is solely based on the atmosphere and the nachos.** The atmosphere is fantastic. I don't live near water and this lake makes me really wish I did. Moonlite bar has a great patio to sit and watch the boats and look at the lake. It also has great tv's inside in case it gets too cold or you want to watch a game. Now for the nachos. They were served and I thought "What the heck is this sh*t"as the top had a bunch of unmelted shredded cheese. I thought I was being served a cold, crappy plate of nachos. Boy was I wrong. Underneath the unmelted cheese is layers of absolute awesomeness. Melted cheese, delicious ground beef, lettuce and olives. I was sold.
