We had actually tried out a new place, and were gravely disappointed. Two words, "fake" "meat". So, yeah, with the nastiness of the previous place leaving us yearning for a good burger (other than those from home!), we were in the area after a long day of sports nearby, and decided to grab a couple of burgers. Again, it's not fast food. There were some disappointments, but not deal breakers... 1) The burger patty on my burger was about 2" x 3" It was pretty d TINY!! But...at least it was real meat, lol!! And THAT is what we went there for. The bun? These are homemade and usually very good. The top bun on my burger was hard as a rock. It was either stale to begin with, or microwaved after it was toasted. Not too much of a deal cus I'm low carb anyway, though I had planned on breaking my diet for what I already knew would be a tasty house made bun. So, I wasn't too put off, by having an inedible bun. As it was, the under bun was perfect, and toasted with garlic.... and I DID break my diet for this, which I ate by itself. This bread is tdf! So there's that! Since I planned on breaking my diet anyway, I went ahead and order fries. The fries were not greasy like they used to be years ago. But they didn't seem fresh either, like they were years ago. Not soggy, not bad. I'll let it pass. We don't like seasonings on our fries so we got them "naked", and they were actually pretty good that way. No salt, nothing (though I did, later on pour on some gooey cheese for some nice cheese fries). The burger itself was good. I got the mushroom swiss burger. I'm not so sure that the white goo on my burger was swiss though. I've never seen swiss melt into almost nothing like that before. Perhaps it was grated? Still, never seen gooey almost liquid swiss before. I think it was either "swiss cheese product" (white american cheese), or provolone or something. Would have been nice, like tdf if it had been real swiss cheese. The grilled onions, fresh meat, fresh bottom bun (lol) made this burger. Also, again, I appreciate that they put garnishments on the side. I just ate them straight up, including the giant leaf of lettuce. A good overall meal. So even if Voodoo disappoints in some areas, there's always a treasure somewhere, and it was an enjoyable meal. Take away from this... wish the buns weren't stale or microwaved. Wish the burger patty was a decent size, not slider sized. Wish the swiss cheese was real swiss cheese. Not even gonna say I wish prices were lower, that's a given. My burger with fries was over $15.

It's not often you find poutine that's not smothered in beef gravy - and I don't eat beef. Their chicken poutine with green chile sauce was yummy. They carefully packed the chicken nachos with the topping separate, so they wouldn't be soggy when we got to our hotel. The food was filling, flavorful, and fast. They also had some cool merch. When I arrived there were two people waiting for their orders. Well, that is not a good thing as with one guy doing everything in the truck it can take a while to get your food ready. Be careful when you stop in as any line of even two or three people waiting on orders can mean a wait of twenty or thirty minutes to get your food. After I ordered and paid a gentleman told me it would be about a fifteen to twenty minute wait for my burrito. I was forced to stand out in the sun for twenty-five minutes before my food was finally ready. A word to the wise! Today I ordered the "Diablo Burrito" which came with steak, chicken, bacon, cheese, green chile, and potatoes. The burrito was accompanied by two tiny cups of salsa, one red and one green. The red was fairly hot. The burrito was handed to me in a foil wrap and placed in a bag. This was a pretty hefty burrito for the money. The ingredients were all quality and had tons of flavor. The tortilla had a nice texture and flavor as well. But, but, the very thin tortilla fell apart and disintegrated as I consumed the burrito. I had to finish half of it with a fork as it could no longer be held in the hand. (Again, if you plan on eating the burrito in a car a word to the wise.) I must say, however, that this burrito served by Los Sanchez Grill was one very tasty, very good burrito. It was also a lot of quality food for the money. It would be hard to find a more tasty burrito anywhere. Rate it an "A" despite the disintegrating tortilla. This restaurant is a full serve restaurant but it is for casual dining only. The one woman working the front of the house was pleasant and efficient. The menu is mostly tacos, quesadillas, and burritos. Prices remain moderate. As before the place seems a little beat up with numerous cuts and worn out spots in the chair upholstery. Today I ordered their quesabirria plate and a carne asada taco. It took about fifteen minutes to get the food to my table, and they were not busy. The waitress brought out a basket of tortilla chips with a cup of salsa. The chips were robust...a little firm but pretty good chips. Rate them a "B+." The salsa was a bit high on the heat but quite flavorful. Rate the salsa a "B+." The carne asada taco was served on two small corn tortillas. The meat was covered with a lot of cilantro and raw onions. A tiny cup of a red salsa and some lime slices accompanied the taco. The carne asada was diced into small pieces (like in so many restaurants) which leaves the meat dry and almost flavorless. While trying to eat the taco much of the diced meat just popped out of the tortilla and I had to eat it with my spoon. I few larger cuts of meat would have stayed in the tortilla and would have remained juicy and flavorful. Rate this pedestrian asada taco a "C." I'll never understand why so many Mexican food restaurants around here serve tacos like this with the meat diced in such small pieces. (Compare my photo of Pejar's carne asada taco with my photo of Mama Silvia's carne asada taco. See the difference?) The four birria tacos, on the other hand, had a fair amount of meat with good flavor and a nice amount of cheese. These birria tacos were above average in quality. Rate them about a "B" to a "B+." The consome was very good. It had a noticeable beef flavor and the fat was properly skimmed. This was one of your better consomes. Rate it a "B+." All in all, a clean, casual atmosphere that could use a little fix up, casual but pleasant service, and food anywhere between so-so and above average. For the overall dining experience give it Three and a Half Stars. Most of the food is Four Stars.
