    Chicken confit main in foreground.

Lovely dinner with friendly professional staff. Intimate small space near the cathedral. You will want to make a reservation to ensure your place at a table. The dinner menu is limited to three mains with appetizers and desserts, as well as wine and lots if gin cocktails. I enjoyed the chicken confit with lentils and my brave husband ordered the hake with black pudding, which we both found interesting.

So I came here straight from the airport. My driver Kevin recommended it and I was happy he did. The place is really chill and it's cozy. The food is delicious. I had the salmon chickpeas and that was good. The bread with the truffle butter was also notable. My dessert is a chocolate meringue. I'm waiting for it while I am writing the review. I took a star off because I feel the wait for the food is a little long to what I am used to back home. But, I think it's all made to order. And if you are dining by yourself it feels longer. But, definitely happy here

Moonfish was widely recommended to us for our visit to Aberdeen, and I booked a couple of weeks in advance for a Saturday night. Loads of people showed up on the night hoping to get a table - so that's my word of warning, if you want to eat here you'll have to book! The restaurant is in a bit of a strange location (but then, I think that's just Aberdeen) so you'll definitely want to check where you're going before you set out. It's a small, romantically-lit restaurant (read: dark, with candles) with nice artwork and the tables aren't too close together. The menu is pretty simple - it lists dishes in a very basic way so you might want to ask the waitress for more information as it doesn't necessarily give you an idea of what the dish is or how it's cooked. Two courses is £30.95 and we both started with a gin from the huge list. I ordered the seabass escabeche (with shallot, sweet corn, sour cream, dill) and then the venison (with squash, pearl onion, pear). We were treated to an amuse bouche of sweet potato soup and nutmeg which was possibly the smoothest soup I've ever eaten. The seabass was nicely presented with delicate sprigs of dill. I wasn't sure about the temperature as it was lukewarm which was a little unusual - I wouldn't say unpleasant, but it was odd. The sour cream was lovely and creamy and bought the whole dish together well. Again, the venison was lovely and a good sized portion with quite a few generous slices. It was nice having the sweet touches of squash and pear on the plate. We had a look at the dessert menu but then decided we were too stuffed and would instead head elsewhere for a cocktail. This place comes in at a solid 4-stars. There wasn't any one thing to stop it being that perfect 5 - the service was fine (perhaps a little too on the serious side) the food was lovely (but not out-of-this-world) and the price was pretty reasonable. I'm just not sure I'd rush back when I visit Aberdeen again.

I just love this place. This is one of not so many restaurants I've been so far that deserve full 5 stars and for every time I've been there so far since they've opened! I love that little cosy atmosphere (no shouting of loud music) with the support of local artists, local sourcing of ingredients and fresh cuisine. No matter what I have tried - whether fish, meat or vegetable dish, all of them are full of lovely taste but not too overpowering. Also, I don't normally drink gin and tonic - but if you go there, try! In the evening they have their special cocktails - I've tried turkish delight and I could get drank on just that :] Little tip - the mood can change from the casual/hipster lunch to evening dressy dinner. If you go for a lunch you will get all the lovely treats a bit cheaper :) going at the evening is really for me just for special occasion as usually, they are overbooked anyway :O

    Halibut and Lamb...exquisite!

This restaurant is a must visit when in Aberdeen. The owner and staff were friendly and provided outstanding service. Meal portions were perfect, and each selection was prepared flawlessly. The Halibut and the lamb was scrumptious and the carrot cake was to die for! We will most definitely return!

Fabulous food near the center of town. It's busy so be prepared to wait. My wife and I both enjoyed our lunch.

I was introduced to this restaurant about 8 years ago when I told the concierge at my hotel in…read moreAberdeen that I was craving a nice, more upscale seafood restaurant. And since my first dinner at the Atlantis Restaurant I have dined there about 12 times, each time the food has been remarkable! My suggestion is get reservations. The restaurant isn't abundantly large and is inside The Mariner Hotel, so it fills up quite quickly. Their wine list is small, but it's nice. Nothing too fancy, and the wait staff has always been helpful in guiding me toward some delicious alternatives to pair with my meal. I prefer seafood over beef, but many of my colleagues and dinner companions have ordered and have always raved about the beef. The Atlantis usually have some very delicious fish and beef specials and if there is a Scottish Salmon entree that is what I order and have never been disappointed. Also, their dessert selection is small, but delicious. The service is always very good -- which if you haven't been to Scotland, the service in Scotland is much better than England -- however, I have found some incredible restaurants in England, too. My only complaint is the atmosphere. The tables and chairs are kind of casual and made of light wood -- perhaps Oak -- and the window treatments, carpet and furnishings don't seem to "do it" for me. It's like the restaurant personality and the menu don't go together. But if you can look past the burgundy, blue and gold color pallet I promise your palette won't be disappointed.

(not quite, but it felt like it). stand outs were the squid dish, spicy prawns, delicious broccoli and yeah, everything was good! including the fried rice and the noodles. we were completely stuffed by the end of it, but it is possible to go here and eat dessert too as i saw other tables doing so! for £22 a head this has to be one of life's greatest bargains, especially considering the food is actually good and tastes a big cut above a standard buffet that would offer similiar fare. i have to say that the gluttony involved in consuming food like this kind of frightens me and disgusts me in equal measures, so, although i am glad i went and think it's a very good idea well executed, it's not somewhere i would come to often...for the sake of my life! waiting staff were friendly, efficient and personable.

It wasn't that expensive, but id rather have half the portion size and fresh food than a lot of frozen/canned stuff.
