£9.90 - Spaghetti Puttanesca. Delicious, but small portion. If you have high blood pressure, stay away from olives. High sodium.

I ordered an appetizer/starter called the "Bruschette e olive" under the lunch section for £3.20. It consist two toasted breads, drizzled in olive oil, topped with diced tomatoes (and of course it includes a small bowl of hot olives). It was delicious, but what disappointed me was that they tried to discreetly charge me £4.15 for it instead of £3.20. The waiter even told me beforehand that there are two different types of bruschetta and I was ordering version with hot olives (and one less piece of toast) which costs less (£3.20 greater than £4.15). I don't think this was a mistake because I could hear (what seemed like) the manager yelling at the waiter about "bruschetta" after I placed my order. Perhaps I wasn't supposed to order from the lunch menu during dinner time? I did ask the waiter if I could! It's only ~£1 difference, but the situation made me feel deceived. Honesty and trust is more important than £1. I ordered the spaghetti puttanesca for my main course for £9.90. Menu description states "Made with olive oil, garlic, anchovies, capers, fresh chili peppers and olives." If you do not like olives, do not order this dish! Each bite had a strong taste of olives and saltiness from the anchovies. I personally liked the dish, but I can tell it's not for everyone. Portion size was smaller than what I was used to. Also, there was not much protein on the plate. In fact, my entire meal consisted of mostly carbohydrates and sodium, but what do you expect from Italian food! Waiter was polite and tentative. I probably won't come back here beceause they tried to pull a fast one on me. I have to admit though, the food tasted more authentic than the places we have in the States like "Olive garden" and "Macaroni Grill". If you do decide to go here, just check your bill for any errors.

A small but great Italian restaurant in Aberdeen. Brusceta was great, and so was the lasagna and carbonera. Friendly professional staff is welcoming.

We came in so near to closing that I felt bad, but the staff welcomed us warmly and we were not rushed in the slightest. Not only did we each order mains, but an appetizer, wine, they graciously brought my younger sons ice cream from the kid menu (well after closing time), and when we were trying to leave they brought espressos with biscotti and insisted we stay. The food was impeccable and authentic, made with love, excellently seasoned and well presented. I truly cannot recommend La Lombarda highly enough.

Quite simply put, La Lombarda is one of the best Italian restaurants in Aberdeen…read more The staff are very friendly and helpful, the food is good quality, freshly cooked and reasonably priced. All pizzas are made fresh on the premesis to order in a proper Italian pizza oven giving them that real authentic taste. To complete the restaurant there's also a room downstairs for private functions and/or their busier times. During the weekend it would definately be advised to book in advance as they can get quite busy. As the restaurant is located on the corner of king street and castle gate, the location couldn't be much better for either grabbing a bite to eat while shopping during the day or having an enjoyable meal with a few pals before a night out.
