Service was very quick (we had to try to slow the service down), portions looked a bit smaller and the main (pork belly) was less impressive than before and quite dry. Interestingly, the bill at the end was a lot lower than we are used to, so you do wonder whether there is a change in philosophy.

The food was so well prepared and well balanced, we didn't want to share a bite of either of our plates! To finish, we picked the crème brûlée and the orange pistachio polenta cake which were a perfect finish to a perfect meal. The food was very reasonably priced too, so allround a new favourite!

Inside the decor is tired and it is large and not usually full up of people so it gets the impression of not being very popular. They quite often show games on the TV and this helps to make the place busier and get a better atmosphere. The bar is a reasonable size so there is not usually a problem with having to wait. They serve all the usual and the prices are quite reasonable in comparison to other bars in that area of town. The bar is accessed by a flight of stairs so might be an issue with a buggy or wheelchair but I do not know if they have a ramp. Parking would be difficult close by but there is parking off street if you are happy to walk.

A couple non-connected rooms, I wasn't sure which one to walk into. The first one I went into was a double bar-type setup and it was crowded. No place to sit, so I went to the other side and it was more of a restaurant layout (with a bar too). It was crowded too, but there was room for me, so I copped a squat at a table. I arrived too late for the food so I ended up just having a few beers. There were families there, a good mix of clients. TVs everywhere with football/soccer on. Didn't get the chance to go back on that trip, but will on my next visit. All in all, a fan!

They serve good quality wines and beers and also offer homemade cakes, the best banana and walnut warm loaf, and really good coffee. The staff always seem to be very keen to chat and will insist on bringing your drinks to you whilst you make yourself at home with the comfy sofas and union jack painted coffee tables. Not many pubs or bars ask you to pay AFTER you have had the goods. The prices are good and it is a lovely place to go for a midday break after shopping in the local supermarkets.
