Service was very quick (we had to try to slow the service down), portions looked a bit smaller and the main (pork belly) was less impressive than before and quite dry. Interestingly, the bill at the end was a lot lower than we are used to, so you do wonder whether there is a change in philosophy.

But this place is definitely worth checking out, especially if you are in town and are looking for a quality meal, in a nice, laid back environment. There are several little bistro style restaurants in the city, however, none of them are as well priced as this little gem. The food is a fusion of French/European with some Scottish influences here and there. The menu changes all the time depending what is in season. Just the way it should be really! The staff were really good on the night, quick service and professional. A rare occurrence also, that for once, in Aberdeen, I did not feel ripped off . Great value for money, I will be back!

We came back 15' minutes later looking for "the French experience". First surprise, no foie gras. We choose the smoked salmon for entrance and it was okay, but nothing superlative to mention. My wife and I decided to go with the plate of the day, it was duck. The dish was very basic and nothing special, the sides very poor. The French kitchen is not well known by the size of the portions, but it is recognised for the perfect flavours. Finally, we shared the tart tatin and it was only average. French food is one of my favourites, but this was not the right place, at least on that night.

Good selection of wine. What's not to like? Actually, since you asked, just one teeny wee thing. The tables are too small. Maybe I'm slobby (don't think so), maybe I need extra space (not obese, not yet, anyway), maybe I just like space. I'm not asking for a twelve seater mahogany table, lit up with candelabrae and one place set at each end. Just enough space for a couple of dishes on the table at the same time. Sorry. Have I been ranting again? It's not really the Bonne Baguette/Brasserie's fault, I just have a general grouse about this small table thing in otherwise good restaurants. And this is a very good place. Soups, main courses, desserts, are all well worth the tariff - under £60 for two not counting wine. Hey, it was the middle of the day; admittedly not always an excuse, but let it go this time. Yes, I will go there again. With friends, associates, nights out from work. It's pretty slick with amazing lighting (I couldn't stop looking at it) and had a nice vibe to it. There was a group in front of us trying to decide what they wanted so I had a good amount of time to suss out the options. We were actually heading to Musa nearby for lunch so we just needed drinks - a pot of tea and water for me. But then I saw Bundaberg Ginger Beer and nearly fainted because I was so happy (ok, maybe slight exaggeration), so I ordered two bottles of that. We sat in the window seats while we had our drinks and admired how beautiful Aberdeen is in the sunshine. All up, this was a cosy cafe with a nice vibe and friendly staff, and I'd definitely return.
