Service was very quick (we had to try to slow the service down), portions looked a bit smaller and the main (pork belly) was less impressive than before and quite dry. Interestingly, the bill at the end was a lot lower than we are used to, so you do wonder whether there is a change in philosophy.

We both had the lunch special which was only priced £13. For that very low price we had large and fancy starters like my smoked salmon and shrimp on fresh Spring greens. The portion was large and fresh. My lunch was a pork medallion prepared with Marsala and cheese. It was done perfectly. The lunch included several choices of desert. I would recommend this to anyone in Dundee and I will be here again on my next trip in town.

All the staff who dealt with us were efficient & attentive and particularly good at anticipating our youngest diner's needs. We eventually settled on the Venue because of their beautiful looking food and their array of gins. And we were not disappointed. I really can't rate this place highly enough. The staff immediately made us feel extremely welcome and completely attended to. They were knowledgeable, friendly and hilarious. A great discussion and recommendation of the menu meant that I had the scallops to start and the belly pork as a main. Everything cooked to perfection and beautifully presented. Not only that but my sweet, tender belly pork didn't need a knife as it just fell apart, and was huge! The place itself is made up of several little areas and they had a community dining set up where you share a giant table with other guests. I'm personally not normally a fan of this because I like my own space... But it worked well here as it added to the cost ambience. I could write a separate review on the range of gins and whiskey... But I'll just say, it's absolutely massive. We also tried some cocktails which again were wonderful. After eating our fill (and then finding room for pudding and some complimentary treats) we spent £65 on 3 courses each a one a few drinks. I have paid much much more before for a lot less. One of the highlights of our entire trip to Scotland was visiting The Venue, in Perth.
