Love their pizza! They have special on pizza Mon & Tuesday. The Grilled Chicken salad is great, it's my favorite . They also have great subs. I personally haven't tried the spaghetti but have heard it's great as well. The restaurant is always clean and I love the decor, showcasing the new & older local sports teams. read more

Pizza is delicious and local beers very nice staff. They run specials daily and do discounts.

Excellent food but service personnel need many lessons on how to treat customers. Table were extremely dirty, they would not even provide a towel to clean the table, they said to just use the hand towels from the restrooms. Totally unacceptable, read more

Bbq Chicken pizza- over sauced, chicken was like the grill kind out of a bag (rubbery) The Beauty - kinda bland ..not much flavor Apple pie dessert pizza - pretty decent. The Apples were just canned pie filling. Nothing really special or homemade. The crust was good on all the pizzas .. Sweet tea was soooo sweet but I like that!! Crew was nice and hardworking just not impressive food and restaurant overall felt dirty. read more

Moon Dogs used to be good but lately they have hidden the silverware so you now have to ask for it, But then they give you only a fork, like you are supposed to cut your bread and lasagna with a fork. When we asked why they don't hand out the silverware; the young man was indignant and said some folks don't need silverware. Really, to eat a salad or lasagna? It's simple, put the silverware out! read more

EVERYTHING is wonderful! We are headed back there now! It's definitely on our list to go when we travel back & forth to OH. Bottle water is free! No soda water. Hubby had a beer. Great Calzone & I'm from NY!! read more

We came in Sunday after church and everything was absolutely horrible. The cheese sticks were cold on the inside, salad was old, lasagna and spaghetti had just a tomato paste on it. Tried to get the worker's attention to let them know and no one ever came out or even looked at us. We were the only ones in the entire place and now I know why. read more

Way back in the last century, I used to go to this spot when it was a chain pizza restaurant. I'm happy to see it still has it's roots in a good pizza/sub shop. The staff was friendly, spot on and quick. Well done to the team that works and leads here. This is very important and they have done it well. I ordered the meatball sub. I'm a sucker for them. It's likely my go-to sub if I don't want a pizza. I was a bit hungry so I ordered a "whole". I couldn't believe that they had a "quarter" sized sub. Then the monster came out. My perspective was WAY off. The reality is that the "whole" equals two large subs. Literally! There were two loaves cram packed with meatballs and marinara sauce. Now I get it.... A half is a whole (single) and a quarter is a half. Follow me? Now you know why I took a whole sub home. The price was right so I'm more surprised than disappointed. With the sub, I ordered a bag of bbq chips and an iced tea. Very well made or poured (no idea of how it originated). Either way, I liked it. The interior was the same dim lighted place I always knew, but the back porch along the road was the perfect place on such a sweet spring day. I'm sure if the weather is even remotely nice - that's the way to go. So, definitely would recommend the place. My Pro-tip would just be to recognize that "Whole" = 2 subs; "Half" = 1 sub; "quarter" = 1/2 sub. Buy what you want. read more

Stopped in for a quick bit, they were very nice and quick to get food out. I ordered a full sub not knowing how Big it would be. I highly recommend the club, it was on fresh baked bread and it was hot...Delicious, you have to try them. I wasn't impressed with their loud thumping music noise but I went there for the food and it was a clean place. read more

Grab a calzone! Just add a little ricotta and ham, just like nonna use to make. If you happen to eat in when they have cider or seltzer, you are in for a treat! read more

We stayed at The Inn at Wise and walked down the street to eat at this spacious, clean restaurant. There is a large indoor space and a pretty spacious outdoor area as well. They have an open kitchen with friendly personnel, and the service was excellent. They serve pizza, subs and pasta dishes. We enjoyed everything we ordered and definitely would return. Pizza-we ordereda lot of food, but also got a small pepperoni just to try the pizza. The Crust was thin but not too thin. It was very tasty and would definitely get the pizza again. They have one pizza that has all 13 toppings on it. Would like to try that. Subs- the bread was so good. it cannot be store-bought bread. The subs were toasted and smashed a little bit like a Panini. We got meatball, Italian and turkey/bacon/Swiss. Subs come with lettuce, tomatoes, banana peppers, mayo, vinegar, and oil and probably more toppings. I can't remember. All the sandwiches were excellent. The meatball sub doesn't come with all those toppings and it was delicious. (0; Pasta - we had the lasagna. They have other pastas, spaghetti and meatballs, and I think manicotti and baked ziti. It was good. Not the best lasagna I've ever had but was tasty with cheese and meat filling up. Came with side salad, which was absolutely huge, and toasted cheese bread. Beer - they have many beers on tap that are made in a brewery that is affiliated with the restaurant and were excellent. Happy hour is I think from 4-7 when the beer is half price. Excellent deal for premium beer on tap. Dessert - they have an unique dessert, which is choice of 3 different flavors of cheesecake in a large sugar cone. That dessert is also made locally. A nice touch. Unusual and very tasty. read more

I ordered 5 pizzas the night before I was to do a presentation with a group of realtors. The pizzas were on time when I went to pick them up. They were extraordinarily delicious. They offered napkins, cups and silver ware. I will definitely use Moon Dog again when I have another event. The pizza I loved most was the Absolute. It was absolutely scrumptious! read more

This place has really good food, classic favorites. Freshly made items, hand made pizza dough. Service was friendly and efficient. The decor was just a standard pizza place. Nothing fancy but clean. I recommend this little hole in the wall gem. read more

Service was horrible very unprofessional staff and hot Dr Pepper. They were out of ice won't ever be back

I stopped here with a friend who said Moon Dog was the best pizza in Wise. They have daily specials and on a Monday I went with their medium sized 1 topping pizza. The pizza was about 14" with a perfectly crispy wood-fired oven crust. The pepperonis were toasty and the cheese was so fresh and stringy. Overall, it was a great pizza with plenty to bring home as leftovers. They have outdoor seating to assist with social distancing and all their servers wore masks, which is greatly appreciated. If you're looking for a great pizza in the Wise, VA area, look no further than Moon Dog Brick Oven. read more

I liked the atmosphere and the staff are very friendly but the food seriously lacks any kind of flavor or seasoning. Was expecting much more for a medium pizza that was nearly $20. Price point should've been more like $13-14 for what we got. read more

Loved the Manacotti, wished it had been served hotter, extra cheese on top never melted. Piazza was really good. Beer selection is great.

Moon Dog is my favorite pizza. They are the only pizzeria to nail down that New York style crust. Great staff and reasonably priced.

The pizza and subs were the bomb, but the wings were something that kind of hurt my experience. The wings are disappointing, not crispy, but sometimes that is fine if they are juicy, but the wings are smothered in sauce, making the wings soggy and like I was eating a wing left in rain water, Definitely ruined my experience. read more

The food was great. I had a calzone. The crust or bread was cooked perfectly and the contents were good. The sausage is different though, kinda like diced lunch meat? My only gripe is there was one table on the patio in use. The other three were dirty with dishes and trash left on them. I had to move it to sit outside and other guests had to do the same when they sat at another table. The young ladies working there were all gathered in the back and seemed to be doing more talking than working. Maybe they were short handed. read more

For the pizza; Has a lot of potential. Liked the thin crust, minimal sauce and flavor of both the crust and toppings. If it were only better executed. The pie had several doughy places and was undercooked. The topping were not spread properly resulting in 90 percent of the mushrooms being on two pieces, most of the bacon on a different 3 pieces, and most of the sausage on yet 2 other pieces. I have a strong feeling that the pies are really good here if or when sop is followed with topping amounts and spread as well as cooking time and temps. I don't see anyone old enough to drink out of the 4 employees in the back. I'm sure that's contributing to the issues. read more

Plain flat stupid! One day, we tried to order both subs & calzones for dinner. The oven was broken & we were refused. How do you run a pizza business with no oven? Ok. They got it fixed. We ordered their delivery service. It took well over an an hour. My spaghetti was in a revolting little gloppy blob I couldn't even attempt to eat! Some restaurant! read more

Always enjoy Moon Dog! Pizza is fantastic, service is solid and a good selection of beer.

I could be considered a regular at this establishment. Usually stick with the subs there and they are well worth the price. The pizzas tend to be a little greasy due to the overload of cheese and the little time they keep it in the oven. There's a small selection of beers on tap but will throw in a few local ale surprises. Happy hours are from 2-9 on Wednesday and Thursday for the best deals. Food is prepared in a timely manner and servers will greet you politely. Great atmosphere for a small town and probably the closest thing to a sports bar in the town of Wise. There's a dog howling in the moon and it is guided by 4 stars. read more
