Hostess was attentive. Server was friendly and our food came out quickly. Bathrooms were clean. Pain points were the mosquitoes all over the place. As well as the lack of strawberries on the strawberry balsamic chicken salad. The salad was topped with 6 half strawberries and no almonds were provided. Food tasted fine. Just expected more strawberries in a strawberry salad especially since it's priced 14.99 because of them. It was nice to have this Applebees available though in a more remote area. read more

Greedy. Ordered the chicken tenders platter and asked for ranch to dip with instead of honey mustard. I get the teeniest ramekin 1/2 full (not the size ramekin pictured) no honey mustard and got charged for the ranch! Watch out here for the ranch police ‍ read more

If I could give this place no stars I would. They set their employees up for failure by having a staff that calls out all the time. The employees look wore out and cranky and who could blame them. The food was so bad I did send it back and got a burger instead of the rubber steak. The burger was also overcooked. It was almost tasteless and dry. It is an Applebees in a rural area. When we eat there, service is prompt, but then drifts away. 3 or 4 different servers make it confusing. It doesn't get too crowded, but people are compelled to bring their screaming babies and rambunctious toddlers. Get a sitter! Applebees is kid friendly and adult priced. Lots of cutesy cocktails, where children don't belong . The salads are good, the appetizers are microwaved, and the salmon is decent. Skip the coffee, skip the desert. PS. We (Fiance' and I) decided to stop to get some good food. We get in the door, we were told to wait, while the hostess came out. There was 2 other people waiting in the seating area for a table. The Hostess gets out there, and asks if we have called to make a reservation. My fiance' replies "No, do we need One?" The hostess replies, "Yes, we require you to call and get on the list". I replied, "Are you kidding me?" Hostess looks at us both, a snobby look on her face, as if we did something wrong. We have never had a problem before getting into this establishment. We were dressed casually like all the times before. Anyway, there were only 2 tables occupied, the hostess replied, that we were not going to get a table, there was a list of people who called in, and made reservations. My fiance' replied, that we would go to the Applebee's in Kingsport, TN. Trust me, when I tell you, this place is a dump, they have went downhill, from what it used to be. Applebee's in Norton,VA needs to be closed, the entire staff needs to be fired, and a new crew trained. Currently,They have lost their edge, and have gained a bad reputation. Take my advice, drive the extra miles and go to the Applebee's in Kingsport, Tennessee. They know how to treat you like you are Somebody special. Went here for lunch on 2/9/2021 at 2pm. Was seated promptly with no menus or utensils. Only one other party was in restaurant. After about 10 minutes another party came in and was seated, provided menus and promptly took their drink order. All the while we were still waiting to even be acknowledged. Called ahead and asked if they had prime rib on their menu and was told yes. Got to restaurant and sat down looked at menu and no prime rib. Waitress came to take drink order and we asked her, do you have prime rib and she says yes. Order our drinks and she brings them. At first it was a good place until you look around the vents looked like they have not been cleaned since the place opened and they have a fly problem the waitress was good so was the guy I thought was the manager but everyone else just sat around except one other waitress I called dale jr jr she pretty much ran everywhere. My mom and brother had ordered steak one was medium well and the other was well done the well done came out a bit pink but my mom won't eat pink and my brothers came out uncooked I wouldn't smack a dog in the ass with it. Bartender sucks slow on waiting on you. Ask for ID which is ok if we looked young. But when we can hardly walk and look old as hell. It should be a issue if we wanted a drink. So far the appetizer we order the nachos with chicken because they were out of beef. What the hell they sell hamburgers isn't that beef ? The appetizer nachos with chicken wasn't much on plate not worth the money they charge two people eat it in four bites. Waiting on main order can't wait to see what it looks like. 7:15 placed drink order 7:45 got drinks and placed order for food Talked with the manager and explained why I didn't want my drink, after the waitress argued with me. All I told the waitress was that the drink was too sweet with to much simple syrup... she proceed to roll her eyes and then tell me very defensively how the drink was made... 8:24 finally got food. 4 cheese Mac and cheese with honey chicken... it had been sitting in the window so long the noodles were dry and rubber. Call the manager over who was very apologetic. After I tell the manager that I'm done with their location, because the last time we were in the lazy eye waiter stood over us while we signed our checks waiting for his tip. Thought it was a friendly thing he did because he was talking with us, but tonight he did the same thing with the table right next to us... way to work that tip! Between the first waitress, Shane (shorter female with brown hair and freckles), rolling her eyes and giving me the death glare every time she went to her other tables, the male waiter, who waits for his tip, and the manager who gives me a piece of paper as a gift card.... This is an Applebee's, nothing more - nothing less. The food is as expected and the service is great. In reading other people's reviews I feel compelled to say - Get A Grip! This is not a Morton's or Thee Ritz. What do you expect. If you are a whinny, stuck up, or just think you are hot stuff then Go Someplace else. Stopped here on the way back home from the beach. I had the oriental grilled chicken wrap, my wife had the 6oz sirloin broccoli and Mash potatoes, kids had Mac and Cheese onion rings and mashed potatoes. Food was delicious and the service was amazing. This was during the Covid with limited seating. We watched several tables get cleaned and they would take 7-8 minutes cleaning and disinfecting each table. I was impressed. read more

Consistent excellent customer service! Friendly, knowledgeable and helpful efficient servers. Lindsey and Alex are awesome as well as Leanna who has also become a favorite of ours with her kindness, great attitude and beautiful genuine smile! The drinks are great and we like how they are rotated with the new featured drinks. The spinach artichoke dip is such a classic and our favorite appetizer! Delicious salmon, chicken and shrimp, steaks and pasta dishes! We have always loved the grilled chicken Caesar salad! When and if there's room, we have a hard time deciding between the Blue Ribbon brownie and the Blondie for dessert and have ordered both a few times to go and shared. Always our favorite choice when dining out!! After church, our occasional days off together and date nights and also girls day/night out. This place was a train wreck all around. We waited for a table for 45 minutes, which would normal on a busy night. However, the people leaving were heard saying the service was so slow, it took forever. We soon found the same. Long waits between ordering, water and food. Steaks were cold or over cooked and broccoli and squash was sour. Seconds of broccoli was also rotten and cooked that way. Yuck! Why didn't anyone check this stuff after they were told?!? 4 star food, 4 1/2 star waiter, 0 stars for manager and her laughable sense of not only customer service but in fact a complete lack of the most basic of logic. Myself and 3 others went this evening and decided on the 2 for 20 special they are having in which you each have a choice of a certain entrée and either a side salad per person or an appetizer to share. We both decided on a sirloin steak and I chose to make mine the 9 oz versus the 7 oz for $2.00 more (as per the menu and the waiter). The food came quickly, was cooked to order, and was tasty. Our waiter was excellent as well. I was so excited to get a good waiter and decent food all in one visit, lol. It is increasingly rare these days as most establishments service continues to decline along with the quality of the food apparently to increase the bottom line. I find myself getting excited on the very rare occasion that I get decent service along with what would qualify as an average meal. Ahh but it was to good to be true Evidently. When the bill came I noticed the upcharge for my steak was 2.50 instead of 2.00 Not earth shattering but wrong none the less. I asked the waiter and he was perplexed. He went to go ask a manager about it and soon returned with the answer. He said the manager explained that it use to be on another special and the system was still wrong on the price. BUT SHE DID NOT CORRECT IT! I asked why she did not correct it to reflect the menu and he said that he was really embarrassed, that he even opened a menu to show her that I was completely correct. She actually sent him out to tell me I was correct but to give me the bill anyway! It took me telling him to tell her (the So called manager) that unless she corrected the bill to reflect the menu, that I would not pay any of it. I also told him to bring me the district managers contact info. It was obvious that the waiter was very embarrassed and I must also say that he was one of the better waiters I have had (at any establishment) but alas he was doing what he was told. So here comes the manager to let me know the same story about the system.... bla bla bla. I quickly informed her that from a customers point of view that we really don't care about her system problems and that even after pointing out a mistake to her directly that it was completely ridiculous to say "Yea your right but I did not correct it" so pay the bill anyway. Applebee's should most certainly be embarrassed by this but should also take responsibility for hiring someone with such an obvious lack of the most basic level of common sense and customer service. Not only did this seemingly simple issue turn into a major issue and ruined the entire experience.... It ruined the rest of our evening as we could not stop thinking about this horrid experience. read more

The girl that greeted us was slightly odd acting. She had to clean a table for us just to sit and they weren't busy at all. The food took a long time to come. The shrimp I received was majorly over cooked and yet the tails were ICE cold and they were heavily peppered . My husband had a leaf in the butter on his steak. Some of the food was decent and some not. I've heard they microwave a lot of their stuff. We ordered take out beer pretzels with cheese recently from here and the cheese was cold. Not sure if they're short handed, or what the issue is, but the quality of food is suffering. This will probably be our last time here. read more

A friend and I were visiting this city and ate here for lunch about a month ago. My food was very decent, but my friend said her shrimp were fried too long, but everything else was fine. Our waitress was very attentive, even offering to switch out our chicken taco appetizer for something else in case we didn't like it. I would dine here again. read more

I recently got the bourbon chicken and shrimp with no mushrooms or onions. I received a plain grilled piece of chicken and the shrimp the same, no seasoning, nothing!!!
