I'd just been unceremoniously tacitly rejected as a solo patron at a local ish place named after a…read moresevered appendage. A famous one, I hear! But every door that closes gives us an opportunity to go somewhere else. Cafe Teasia this arctic Sunday night during the fallow holiday period was surely spartan ,modest in size and devote. There was a fellow with a backwards baseball cap on speaking with another someone far away on a laptop, mimicking the illusion of companionship. Another pair playing at the same human game we all play at was doing it in person as a couple or couple to be or two who were to have but these evening. The beau or fella was brashly loud which soon grew charming as I recalled when I used to try to wow girls with tales of meditation tricks and bragging I'd be dead in 2031 when the next Avatar comes out (or the equivalent in my time). So here I was coming in out of the cold playing the same innocent game for human connection. I wish I could warn him that her politely laughing may not be a good sign! Or maybe assure him it is - ah, but who knows what love is or indeed even what fun is. All i know was the last joint wasn't putting out any such vibe. Ah the severance. So I got two coffees to go because that's what coffees are for. But I also got my first ever "bubblentea". The mango bubble tea had these little pearl-like bubble balls that mash like tiny grapes in your mouth. Delightful candified moment. But here's what I'll always remember. The second i walked in, the cashier warmly greeted me and welcomed me with but three patrons here on a Sunday night - and the heat was out. She wore a coat. I didn't remove mine. Our breathe was nearly white but you know what? Not nearly so cold an experience as the last joint.

The drinks are fully customizable with different milk options, great for those with dietary restrictions. I got an Ube latte with oat milk and my daughter got a hot chocolate with oat milk, both very delicious. Cozy, chill place for a coffee.

Do not come here. Lol. This place is just plain racist and nasty…read more It was raining and me and my friend decided to go get some ice cream because ice cream on a rainy day is amazing. We get there, rap music blasting. It takes the worker about 2 minutes to come out, and when she does she just looks at us and says NOTHING. I literally had to greet her first and say hi, give us a second. She doesn't respond, just turns around and walks away. She comes back like 3 minutes later, no explanation of the menu, not asking us anything. I explain my order and she doesn't ask about toppings or anything. When I ask, she seems annoyed. The transaction is barely finished when a white family walks in, and without even handing me my spoon or napkin, she immediately turns away and greets them in this fake excited tone. Mind you, my friend next to me hasn't even ordered or paid yet. As my friend is paying, she is straight up ignoring her and having a whole conversation with the white family like we don't exist. The transaction isn't even over, and she doesn't say bye, doesn't say thank you, nothing. Just turns around like we're an inconvenience. Then the music suddenly changes to white pop music... like what is this??? I have NEVER experienced anything like this in my life, and for it to happen at an ice cream shop in Union, NJ, at the hands of another woman of color is NASTY. And to make it worse, the ice cream wasn't even special. We were literally about to go to Carvel but decided to support a small business instead... and it was horrible. So disappointing.
