I…read moreadmit I've never had Brazilian/Japanese fusion before so I was really excited to try Uma Nota. Uma Nota is on Peel Street with a colorful mural of a woman painted on the outside. If it's too busy you can have a drink and wait on the tiered steps outside of the restaurant. They offer tapas style small dishes or heartier entrees. We ordered: Marinated pear salad(Fresh pears marinated in clementine sauce with hearts of palm, togarashi and green leaves): This was actually quite refreshing and light. The pears went well with the clementine sauce and spicy togarashi. Portobello Skewers (With red bell pepper chimichurri sauce): The beefy flavor of the portabello went well with the chimichurri sauce. Beef Skewers (With farofa) : Beef was tender and farofa (cassava flour) sprinkled on the dish made for good dipping which enhanced the beef flavor. Jaba com jerimum (Brazilian jerk beef with pumpkin, butter fried onions and sweet peppers): I've always loved jerk beef and this was really good with the onions and sweet peppers. Coxinhas de frango (Deep fried dumplings filled with chicken and okra): Normally I'm not a fan of okra, sometimes it can be slimy but these went well with the chicken. Perfectly fried teardrop shapes of happiness. I also ordered their Paulista cocktail (Sake, Aperol, lychee and pink berries pepper shrub): It was refreshing and not too sweet. It was definitely an enjoyable dinner, I wouldn't call this place "intimate" so you can have a private conversation but the lively atmosphere and amazing food made this a restaurant I want to come back to again and again.

We made an attempt to get into a restaurant nearby and after knowing it had a long hour wait,…read morebumped into this place. We were starving and so decided to walk-in without checking out their reviews. At 7:30 pm, this place was empty with 3 tables occupied. The four of us were seated right away. Brazilian Japanese Street food was a first-time cuisine experience for me, so I was excited to try out the different flavors. Their entire menu is for sharing, so we ordered a few appetizers and mains which included Ceviche Guayas ($175), Ceviche Nikkei ($175), Banana doce ($90), Porco crocante ($95), some skewers which included Octopus ($115), Beef ($115), Chicken ($95), Tuna ($115), and 2 large plates which included Robalo assado em folha de bananeira ($290), and Lombinho de porco ($250). We also ordered the Classic Caipirinha's ($95) for drinks. The drinks, food, and service were absolutely spot on. The food was very delicious with Tuna skewers being the most amazing, and the Lombinho de proco was out of this world. Our only issue with this place is that it's just too expensive. It cost us in excess of $2600 for that night... maybe that explained why the place was still not that busy when we left at around 9 pm.

Brazzzzzzza! Calling all meat lovers!!!…read more We came here for lunch on a Saturday. It's busy but comfortable. The concept is this: bottomless salad bar and bottomless meats... you eat til your hearts content. The friends I came here with are from Brazil so they said this is how it's done in Brazil. Ok so you'd think: "ok, so it's a buffet type style? So that means up the price and lower the quality?!" But actually, the meats are very good quality - juicy, tasty, and various cuts! It's not cheap price wise but it is worth it. I also had an acai shake : very light and natural tasting . Thumbs up Brazzzza!

I've been to several different Churrascaria's, and this is Hong Kong's only version of one (that I…read moream aware of). In general, the buffet was decent (but of course don't fill up on it), and the steak was overall good, but the pichanha only came around 2 times and one time great and one time so-so (not cooked correctly, a bit overdone). They were pushing the chicken and pork out of the kitchen more frequently than the steaks, and some of the beef cuts advertised on the menu were not available. They offer a free flow wine which is worth it although the quality is only so so. It is extra to add caipirinha which is too bad since it is authentically Brazilian but not worth the extra cost. You need to reserve ahead as it is busy, usually some larger parties.

I love the industrial decor of this locations and think food is a bit better than the others too…read more The outdoor seating is generally pretty full on the weekends and provides great people watching even from inside. The brunch/breakfast items are pretty standard, hard to mess up items. The scrambled eggs were nice and light, but not runny. I had been craving pancakes for a while but hadn't seen many other options for them in Ktown. Although these pancakes weren't amazing, the stack of 3 were fluffy enough to satisfy my craving, even though they were a but chewy. Jaspas in general overs a wide variety of food options which makes it good for groups and a range of preferences/dietary restrictions. The food quality is just ok/average though in my book. It's not mind blowing good, but you know that you're going to get a decent standard. The prices are a bit high given the food is just ok, but that's the western premium carried over from soho. The extra 4th star is definitely for the decor of this Kennedy Town location.

It was a great portion with a side salad and fries. It was juicy enough that it went dripping down the sides of your hands. The bun was not the best, but hey, everything else was good! My friend has the chicken tacos, which came in a wrap it yourself format, with all the fixings. He was quite happy with that too. I reason I'm not giving it a 5* is the service. Although my table was one of the few ones occupied at that time, the service was not attentive. I would like to come back and try their services again and also try other menu items that may not be as popular.

Before I start expressing how I actually felt about the dining experience, I want to specify that…read moremy waiter was the best part of this experience by a mile. Mustafa (hopefully this is spelled correctly) was: kind, attentive, incredibly speedy, and inhumanly composed. An absolute delight to have as a server, and frankly while my review isn't particularly positive, I would have found the experience to be borderline 1 star just based on the actual flavors of the food relative to the pricing if not for him having saved the experience. If I could do this dinner again, I would honestly order less food, as you get the same view whether you order a single tasting menu and grab some takeout elsewhere afterwards, but at face value the flavors seemed bold yet feasible, as though they could turn out well depending on the execution. In reality we ended up spending approximately $1200HKD per person on a tasting menu that had one to two memorable items each. We actually spent an additional $98HKD on a dish that neither one of us felt compelled to finish. The second course tempura was more interesting flavor-wise than either of our mains, in part due to the chili infused tempura sauce doing a lot of heavy lifting. We are not generally fine dining individuals, it is an occasion we reserve for special events (this was our anniversary), but we do have enough experience to know that the execution of these dishes was miles away from a single Michelin star, yet commanded prices well above most of the one-star restaurants we've visited. The waiter took plenty of photos to commemorate the experience, and we managed to see both the 8PM "city of lights" show on the businesses spread along the harbor, as well as a fascinating lightning storm directly in front of us in a massive panoramic, which should lead to an unforgettable night, but the quality of the food left us grasping at straws to find silver linings. I wish I could remember this experience more fondly, but every time a family member asks whether we enjoyed the food, we struggle to muster any enthusiasm and at roughly $2,800HKD after 10% service charge I can't help but wish we had gone elsewhere to get better food and just visited some sort of observation deck instead.

The bruschetta and the thick cut smoked bacon were both quite good (but bacon rarely isn't good), and the black truffle pappardelle was fantastic. The ribeye steak was one of the better steaks we've had in Hong Kong - perfectly cooked, clean tasting meat. Atmosphere: Very warm and inviting - dim but not dark lighting, large wooden tables, and nice decor without seeming fancy. It can be a little small for large groups, but it is a perfect place for smaller groups. Service: Neutral - we had a large group so I think the server was a little harried, but the service was neither remarkably bad nor good.

Wow! Super surprised there is a yelp entry for this restaurant!…read more This place I feel is not in the most ideal area. Personally, I don't like coming to LKF to have dinner or lunch or whatever. Still, I can't fault them too much for the location, and many people have actually done the same since there are a number of good restaurants in LKF area. This place is primarily a steak place, though they have a few other things to choose from as well. I believe lunch times they offer a AYCE sort of option, where you get a main and then the salad bar is buffet. I've been to it before and it's pretty good. I've heard however since COVID they have changed it somewhat. The other night I came and got the seafood guazzetto, which is about $300 HKD, and has a bunch of different things such as fish, octopus, clams, etc. Lots of seafood essentially. Other things I tried included the sides of brussel sprouts, mushrooms, bruschetta, some of my brother's sirloin steak, some of the fish of the day (halibut?). Overall, the food is quite nice. I will say, they tend to use a bit too much butter/oil here. I know this is kind of true whenever you eat out, but here it is definitely noticeable. I would recommend them to tone it down just a little bit, since there are always ways to spice up your dish without going overboard on the fats

I eventually became a regular while keeping my expectations dialed low (#1) and learned to appreciate this place for what it was: a laid back cafe in the heart of SSP. At first, my visits were strictly to kill time, drink a little something, and get lost in internet space with their speedy WiFi, but I eventually graduated to spending copious amounts of time here while experimenting with their food options, while even holding a few business meetings here. Whenever I was in SSP, this eventually became my home away from home. It was like being in (a narrow room in) the US, but without all the commercialism. The interior is pretty tight; many folks who are working / studying (in addition to dining and sipping) are usually by themselves. It doesn't get too crowded in here even during peak hours, which is why I enjoyed coming here so often. The service is surprisingly great. The owner, Michael is extremely hospitable and the rest of the staff is very welcoming, amiable, and efficient. For expats who are coming here for a little breakfast nostalgia (especially their ever popular "all-day breakfast" for $88HKD), keep your expectations tapered in knowing the food will naturally be served in HK portions and tastes. Don't forget to enjoy one of their lovely mochas either inside (#2) or in their limited outdoor seating. ___________ (#1) Because ... western food in Hong Kong. (#2) Because ... AC.

I completely dismissed this restaurant originally when I saw the gimmicky presentations, but some dishes offer a playful interpretation. Should try: Roast Pigeon was cooked perfectly. Succulent and juicy. They offer gloves which is a fantastic idea to eat the small bird. Beef char siu was tender and had good flavor and char texture. The thyme was decorative but added a nice scent. Interesting: Mangosten fritter is more for the look but also had a nice crab lobster sauce filling. Meh: Charcoal Buns were sweet and savory but does not taste different from the traditional version Sponge Xiao Lung Biao- Normally I love this dish but the change up here did not do anything for me. I wasn't too impressed by the filling nor the skin. If you are new to or want traditional dim sum go elsewhere. Also I didn't really order from the dinner style selections. Glad I didn't because they are small portions and didn't look that novel. If you are like me and had dim sum countless number of times, it is fun to try things with a twist. The woman next to me kept admiring how the food was presented. Look for the L signage and go to the second floor. Casual clean open dining room.
