This family run business has gone above and beyond to make sure my dad's car is running safely. I went to the shop with my dad to pick up his car. There was absolutely no upsell, and there was significant extra time and work put into his car beyond the scope of work without extra cost. They took the time to show me all the parts they replaced and explained everything thoroughly. When subsequent, unrelated issues came up, these guys saved my dad dealing with tow-trucks and drove out of their way to his home to diagnose the problem on site, and take the car back to their shop. It's difficult being so far away from my dad, and it's a worry not knowing if he's being treated well. The treatment he's getting is 'family' level attention, clearly taking into account his circumstances in a way that goes way beyond standard service. If you don't want to take the job, simply tell me, "This isn't something we want to get involved with," and I'll thank you for your time and take my car somewhere else. What I did have a problem with was the way I was spoken to. I came in specifically to explain that I knew this would likely be a difficult repair and wanted the shop to understand what they might be getting into before accepting it. I wasn't looking for a cheap fix, and I was prepared to pay to have the job done correctly. Instead of simply declining the work, I was given a long explanation about how backed up the shop was and was repeatedly told that someone there had spoken with me numerous times about this vehicle. That simply isn't true. I had not repeatedly called the shop. I corrected this more than once, yet the conversation continued as though I didn't know how many times I had contacted or visited a business myself. Eventually I was told that this wasn't something the shop wanted to get involved with. That's fine. That could have been said at the beginning and I would have had no problem whatsoever. I'm not questioning the positive experiences other customers have had here, and I'm not claiming anything about the quality of their mechanical work because they did not work on my vehicle. I'm reviewing the customer service experience I personally had. You can decline a difficult job without being rude or argumentative with a potential customer. You can also say you're busy without turning it into a song and dance. Especially in a small community, treating people respectfully matters. Just be straightforward: "We don't want to take this repair." That's all that needed to be said. I found another local shop willing to inspect the vehicle and determine the best way to repair it, so everything worked out. I just wish this interaction had been handled with the same straightforward professionalism.
