Everything that we have ordered have been excellent. The quality of ingredients used are 10/10. From their galbitang to their cold noodle combo (lunch combo). The side dishes were SoOoOo goOoOod. Everything was delicious. Service: Service is great. Like all Korean restaurants I've dined in service at Moongongri was excellent. Ambiance: Ambiance is great. Great eating environment. Nice cozy place, easy street parking in this area. We came in early on a Friday night. Very small staff here, taking orders, cooking, & serving, and they killed it, even as the restaurant filled up. Impressive. We ordered the LA Short Ribs, Medium (7pc) fried chicken with garlic soy sauce, pork belly & squash pancake (really more tempura style zucchini slices). Everything was solid. We really loved the fried chciken and the pork belly. The fried chicken came with sweet potatoes fries. Banchan were generous and a good variety of flavors and spice levels. I forgot to take pics of the short ribs and the fried chicken before we dug in, so know that those orders are bigger than they look in my pics! This was a lot of food for two people, but we were famished so we eventually polished it off. We'd definitely come back here again! They have outdoor tables for the warmer months, the music isn't too loud, even right under the speaker, and the service was kind and efficient. read more

Stopped by to dine in as I was craving something warm and spicy. Dining space is cozy with an option to sit in or outside. I ordered spicy pork bone soup and a fried chicken and soju combo. Food was promptly served. Spicy pork bone soup was good but tasted similar to yuk gae jang. In hindsight, I would probably order the pork bone soup next time and request a side of dadaegi so I can season it how I prefer. Spicy pork bone soup comes with some chives which goes hand in hand with each bite of thinly sliced pork. Shortly after, the fried chicken was served. There are 4 flavor options: original, sweet & spicy, soy garlic, and soy chili garlic. I opted for the sweet & spicy and was served with a little side salad and fries. The fried chicken is undoubtedly the star of the show! Perfect Korean fried chicken with too much sauce slathered everywhere, the chicken was juicy on the inside, crispy on the outside, and the sweet & spicy sauce was so flavorful. There's a lot of other dishes: soondae, galbi, bibimbap, jungol, soondooboo, naengmyun, etc. which makes this restaurant a gem! So many different dishes in one restaurant. The banchan is great, kimchi is one of the better kinds. Also the lady who worked there is a very sweet and good soul. She saw my mom struggling to walk and took the time to bring my mom from the restroom back to her seat. Such a sweet gesture. I was in the mood for soondae so I decided to check this place out. I got a plate of soondae as well as the soondae soup. The dry soondae was pretty on point in terms of flavor and texture, even the liver and lung were really chewy without being too dry. But I thought the soondae soup was a little too strong for my liking. The broth was fine, and so was the sliced liver and lung, it's just that the soondae when hot had a much stronger taste that was almost rancid. This was my first time having soondae soup so I didn't really know what to expect, but after my first time I don't know if I would get it again. I did like that there was so many seasonings for the soup, like for example, tiny shrimp and black pepper. I felt like there were enough ways to elevate the flavor of the soup which arrives tasting pretty bland. I liked the options way more than what I've been given when I get sullungtang. Everything else like the banchan is really solid. I'd definitely come back here when I'm in the mood for soondae again! read more

TL;DR - I love it. So far, I've been twice and I'm already thinking about the next time. Prior to this experience, I've never had soondae. It's not that I didn't want to try it or that I found it yucky or anything, I just didn't want to get a gigantic order and then feel bad for wasting food. Fortunately, this place has a small size! It was perfect size for 2 people. It was good, too! I don't have anything to compare it to though, but I will definitely order it again. The reason why I originally came here was for the pork bone soup. I originally tried it in Seoul and really wanted to taste it again. I wish I could have ordered the medium size and have it come on a mini stove, but truthfully, it is just too big to order just for myself. I can't even finish the single portion. Anyway, it's really good, but really, I'm going to have to try something different the next time I go. I can't keep going and getting the same thing, right? The boyfriend tried the spicy squid the first time we went. I actually didn't even try it because I was so into my soup and soondae. The second time we went, he had the cold noodle soup and fried chicken. Both were very good. We have our favorite cold noodle soup place and this did not beat it, but it was good. Our favorite is Soot Bull Jeep. We both just love the pine nut flavor. This one, my boyfriend would definitely order again. The sweet and spicy fried chicken was excellent. The boyfriend liked it more than the Korean fried chicken place that's closer to our house. Next time, I will have to force myself to order something different. I have to experience the whole menu. We ordered one spicy soondae-guk (not pictured), one stir fried squid with pork belly (not pictured), and one pork belly soup. Everything was delicious! The spicy soondae-guk was super flavorful and a great amount of spice. The stir fried squid with pork belly was the perfect amount of sweet and spicy. The pork belly pieces were so juicy and thick. I had the pork belly soup and it was exactly what I was craving on a rainy day. Lots of meat too! All their banchan was incredible! Especially their kimchi! Full disclosure: I'm fairly new to the world of Korean food. Having acknowledged that, I can tell you this was very tasty. I also had this meal delivered and everything came tightly sealed. It also came with a nifty tool that allowed me to break the seal to get to the food. I ordered the spicy beef soup and it came with white rice, 2 types of kimchi and glass noodles. A lot of food so well worth the money. I love spicy food and this was just right amount of heat. While everything was delicious I did take away 1 Star because some of the beef was very tough. I do look forward to trying other menu items and learning more about Korean cuisine. read more

The sides were all so fresh and delicious, we especially loved the spicy cucumbers and kimchi. We ordered the galbi tang and spicy pork bone soup (both were under $20 each) and the portions were huge! Food came out pretty quick. The galbi tang soup was so light but rich in flavor, my bf downed it like the big back he is. The flavor was so creamy and savory for the spicy pork bone soup. The food was delightful! What a hidden treasure. We had almost everything in the menu and it was all very delicious.

I got the original Soondae soup which came with an assortment of meats inside. There were two types of soondae, a light and dark version. There was a noticeable difference between the two, with one containing mostly glass noodles with a chewier, bouncy texture. And the dark on having more blood sausage filling, and having a meatier, iron filled bite to it. The broth was deep and savory with a clean aftertaste. It went well with the perilla seeds and salted white shrimp accompanying the meal. The kkakdugi (radish banchan) was delicious and made in house. Service was friendly and fast, wouldn't hesitate dropping in again to try their gamjatang. read more

Incredible tiny Korean restaurant that specializes in sundae blood sausage. Even if you're scared of trying this sort of food, you should just do it once.
