I'm not sure how I ever missed this spot in my own neighborhood. It's a cafe inside of a vintage shop. I came here to get a coffee and ended up getting some lunch takeout. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Inside the cafe area is pretty cool, a bunch of seating with a walk up and order counter.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The prices are really good too, pastries for only a few dollars and a cup of soup for 5 or so. Before or after you eat, you can peruse the shop. It's pretty big land laid out nicely. The employees were nice and this must be a good deal because the majority of the folks were elderly. I ordered a curried chicken salad sandwich and chili and cornbread. The sandwich was flavorful and appropriately seasoned, although the chicken was a much larger dice than it should've been for a sandwich. Next time I'd probably ask for the white como bread to be toasted. The chili was nothing to write home about-it was on the watery side and more like a soup and less like a chili. It did have kidney and black beans which you don't see too often, so I give them credit for creativity. Would not get it again. However, the cornbread was absolutely delicious and I would get three more pieces and just make my own chili at home. All in all, this is such a cool spot that I'll definitely be hitting up again. Simple and excellent at what they do. This spot is in a part of town that most things tend to be hard to get to, and not worth the time once you are there. They have broken that trend by being very worth your while. I have always enjoyed my experience and the service here. Whether with someone familiar or a fresh face I do not recognize, they are consistently friendly, attentive, and make the stop enjoyable and worth working around the awkward traffic. I absolutely love this place! From the minute I walk into the courtyard, it makes me happy. Such a warm and inviting cafe, it reminds me of the cute cafes we had in my small hometown. Fantastic cookies and baked goods and the sandwich selection is always stellar. Not to mention the selection of mimosas to purchase before shopping the antiques. It really is such a pleasant experience every time I go, and the people that work there are always so friendly. I recently met a friend for a quick lunch at Monti's - then on to the antique mall for shopping. It was delicious! However, this time it was an entirely different sandwich. The only thing curry about it was the name and the color. The bread it was served on was very good though. The curry chicken filling had bits of carrot and a LOT of yellow mustard in it - which is decidedly NOT in curry. I only ate half of it even though I hadn't eaten breakfast in anticipation of having that yummy sandwich (that I'd had before). Whoever is preparing the food should research what goes into a traditional chicken curry and go from there. In any case, please take out the mustard! It completely ruined the sweet, spicy, savory flavor of the curry. read more

I ordered the curry chicken salad since I was looking for something light. I was expecting the curry to be the dominant flavor, but my was I wrong. All I could taste was mustard, yuck! This is not what I anticipated. I ended up trying the cranberry chicken salad which had a sour mayonnaise flavor and was chock full of nuts. Neither of which I was in the mood for that day. I should have just stuck with iced tea. Unfortunately, based on these two menu items, I cannot recommend this cafe. read more

What a great idea to have a little cafe inside of a huge vintage marketplace. You can grab a latte or a mimosa and sip while you browse the store. They have some good food options, as well, with a variety of sandwiches (including breakfast sammies), salads, quiche, soup, and some tempting sweet treats, too. Seating is limited so if you want to sit eat, depending on what time of day it is, that may be a challenge. East They offer a half-sandwich portion as well. The Hubs and I each ordered a half-sandwich, which cake with a smaller serving of chips and a pickle spear. The Hubs had the ham & Swiss on rye, which was a good, basic sandwich. I had the chicken salad sandwich, which normally vines on a croissant but if you order the half-size you have to pick a different bread because they won't cut the croissant in half. If you order the chicken salad sandwich, I'd stick with the full side or pick something else because the bread completely fell apart after 2 bites and I ate the rest with a fork. Oh well, lesson learned, and it was still good. I also had one of their seasonal coffee drinks, a honey lavender breve, which was delicious. They do have other non-dairy milk options, including oat milk - yay! read more

This cute little cafe was a perfect spot to meet a friend and catch up. They have several options for beverages, as well as pastries and food choices. I had a blended decaf latte with sugar free caramel syrup. It was refreshing and not overly sweet. I also had a lemon blueberry scone which was delicious. My friend had a strawberry mocha iced beverage that he said was really good, along with a biscotti which he said is one of the best he's had. We also had a chocolate chip cookie which was huge and just slightly underbaked--perfect for a sweet treat! There was spaced seating indoors, as well as seating on their front patio. Good neighborhood coffee and eating space. The soups here are good and rich which is one of the main factors I use in rating places, the food isn't fancy but well done. Indoor seating is more like visiting a book store or friend's house then a cafe, which is a big draw for me. I would have given them a five-star except that occasionally some of the pastries can be a little underdone. Update: at the moment 12/10/2022 their closed on Mondays and Tuesdays, don't know if this is permanent or not. read more

Located inside of Montocello Antique Marketplace this cafe can be accessed via the gate inside the mall or there is a separate street level entrance across from the counter. This place is a great rest stop for the serious antique shopper. Those of us that like to take their time and look at things we need a place to rest and grab a cup. They have numerous bookshelves in the cafe and a ton of seating options. They have various cappuccino and tea options as well as sweets and some sandwiches. Super friendly service with a smile. We dropped into Monti's today at about 11:15 am, MAINLY because I saw a big sign out front that said "BREAKFAST". so I asked if I could still get a Breakfast sandwich, and the older(BITTER) woman behind the counter said(WITH ATTITUDE), " Well, since there is nobody here, I guess I could make you one. But we normally stop at 1030".... Fine, so I ordered a Breakfast sandwich. I then asked what comes on the sandwich? She says, " We only have one sandwich". So, I said, "FINE.. but what is ON IT? she says......"Ham egg and cheese"... I said. OK, I will have it". Well, needless to say, I was unhappy with the sandwich. It had tomato slices on it, and the bread was white, when I asked for wheat. The woman was rude and acted like she was really annoyed with me. First off. DON'T say you'll make a customer a sandwich if it's really a problem. You ruined my FIRST trip to Monti's and doubt I will EVER go back. The manager/owner should talk to you about how to deal with customers because you clearly do NOT know now... and if you are the manager/owner, then your cafe is doomed. The coffee was acidic and COLD. Probably because it was made at 8:00 am and left to sit for three hours. it was over $7.00 for a foul sandwich and cold coffee. I would rather go to Safeway and order the 1.99 breakfast sandwich and $1.00 OJ. or coffee. It's ten times better, with friendly people, and a third the price. Time to re-evaluate your place. I've stopped by a few times now and am pretty satisfied with the place. I think it's just genius to combine a coffee shop & an antique shop for customers to enjoy a nice cup of coffee while exploring. I ordered a hazelnut/vanilla latte my first time and was pretty content with it. I wish there would have been a bit more hazelnut but other than that all was good. Stopped in here the other day after reading all the positive reviews. It's definitely a cute little place. Pretty friendly staff. I got the special which was a ham and cheese croissant w/cup of soup. The croissant tasted good, although it was flat as a pancake, the soup was bland...i mean really bland, even after dumping salt and pepper it was still tasteless. At $8.95 i was disappointed. My friend got half a cheese sandwich(which looked sad because they don't grill half sandwiches [there is also and extra charge if you want your sandwich grilled on a panini maker...how hard is it really]) and the other soup of the day. It was just as bland as the one i received. They boast homemade soups, but i've had better from a can. Plus for $3 to add a cup of soup to a 7 dollar sandwich, i expect better. read more

I have been coming to Monti's Café for a few months now. I stopped in today for some lunch and my usual white chocolate mocha. The white chocolate mocha was delicious as always. I tried the Special: Turkey and bacon on a croissant with a side of fruit, and my friend got the veggie quiche with a side salad. The wait time was longer than usual given that the place was full, but my friend and I didn't mind. My first experience was horrible and there was a girl with bad tattoos messing up lattes... After I ran away the first time WITHOUT even looking at the market place (mistake, you'll see why), I wasn't impressed. This cute little cafe is located inside the Monticello Antique Marketplace off SE Stark and 60th. Wow!! Great tasting coffee!! I had a hazelnut soy latte and my fiance had a chai tea latte and both were delicious. There are shelves of cool books nestled between tables, free wi-fi and plugs for laptops.
