The food has always been stellar at this place, and the drinks even better. I used to love coming to this place for their frozen Margaritas. During happy hour? Even better! Happy hour is no longer happy though. They wanted to jump on the price gouging bandwagon, and increased their happy hour prices on the margaritas by 80%! That's outrageous. This is pretty close to being the best you can get in the Bronx, unfortunately now it comes with Manhattan prices. read more

I'm still giving this place three stars. My bartender was not very pleasant or entertaining like most places I have visited. The appetizers were very misleading. I thought I was getting a bunch of fresh nachos like the beef nachos were, but instead I received 4 nachos with imitation crab meat all over it. They were not good or worth the price. Now my beef nachos, those were excellent. I wish I had ordered those first. I have to say the bar scene was nice until about 8p.m. that's when they turn up the music and then it begins to seem more of a party scene. Anyway overall this place is what it is, an o.k. reasurant good for some Apps and drinks and hanging out after work. I would not want to visit this place on weekends. read more

I always have a Margarita on the rocks, hubby drinks Pina Colada. For some reason his drink was not as good as before, it was watery and did not have the thickness. It was really disappointed. Happy Hour after work Thursday with a fellow co-worker was chilling time. We both desired cold drinks since it was a hot day. Service is mediocre as it was difficult to flag a waitress or hostess to be seated. We preferred to be seated at a table- not at the bar. Boisterously loud music is blaring in the background. This business was rather empty on a Thursday night. The server check-in on us inquiring our drink names and how we were enjoying ourselves. I did not request for a second serving, but low and behold minutes later arrived a second Raspberry Peach Margarita for me but I refused and returned it. No comment on food as we did not ordered any. Raspberry Peach Margarita $6.25 It was very white foamy appearance, not a pure red color. I tasted mostly foam. First time for me here, the place is ok. They even have live music on weekends the food was ok. My only problem with this place is that they allow people to smoke hookah when they are plenty of family with kids around. It's kinda small then they expanded then went back to the original set up. I missed the cave like atmosphere. The food is good. The problem I really have with them is the Hook-a. And the customers get stupid and they are young . Either send that hookah crap in a separate room . Or do away with it. Big turn off when young kid see this . My teen daughter thought they were smoking weed. SMH.... it changed for the worse. read more

I've only been here 1x in the evening. It was 4 of us in my party, we had reservations for 8 pm and still had to wait an hr. So we got seated at 9 pm. It was crowded and there was too many people. I know if the Fire department came in they've would of gotten a summon for over crowding. The staff are okay they've seemed bothered. So when we get seated we waited another 15 minutes for a waiter to come to us, we just order water with lemon. Mind you we had no menus nor did she. She said she was going to bring us a menu but never did. The water was given to us 5 minutes later n the menu we got it from the bar!! The food thankfully was good and the wait wasn't so bad 25minutes it took. The drinks to me were water down. I suggest for the owner of this establishment not to have so many people at one time. Montezuma, a well known Mexican restaurant in the Kingsbridge area of the Bronx! I can see why...because I rarely find good mexican restaurants in this borough. In all my experience, Montezuma has he BEST salsa I've ever tasted. The acidity and spice is very refreshing. It's really good. FREE with a basket of tortilla chips. The guacamole looked hardy, chunky yet creamy. The taste was soft and smooth. Also good for $5.95. I ordered the burrito and tamale combo which comes with rice and refried beans. I was a lil disappointed with the burrito even though the beef was nicely seasoned and saucy. I was expecting more not only in size but also in ingredients. The tamale also had subtle flavor, a little bit dry though. Rice and beans are decent. $9.99 Mango frozen margarita. Delicious. Couldn't have asked for a better"fresh" Tex mex meal and good -good pomegranate martinis, and ice cold Corona than what we shared and had at Montezumas in the Bronx. So I went here for lunch while in the Bronx for work. One of the Scientist i work with loves this place and has been raving that a co-worker and I needed to try it. He was right! The place had a very impressive bar with the exception of a lack of taps. The lunch specials were only $5! I had the tamale and I was very content. We also got salsa and chips for the table, a very nice touch espcially for the price. I would 100% come back here the next time I'm in the area for work. read more

Met up with friends at this location and was pleasantly surprised by the service, drinks food and overall experience. Despite the nightmare parking situation, it seems to be well frequented. It was crowded as any neighborhood bar should be on a Friday evening. Drinks came fast, and the server was accommodating. Unfortunately I went here last night with my family and we had the most unpleasant experience ever. Not only was my churrasco bland but the place was too dark, unfortunately that wasn't the worst part. We were seated next to the DJ so it was loud and hard for us to hear. That is still not the worst part, the DJ staff kept smoking hookah literally next to our baby we had to complaint various times before we asked for the manager, they stopped smoking only momentarily before continuing to start smoking again up until we left the restaurant. I've come to this restaurant a few times now. The food is pleasantly delicious, and I've always enjoyed my meals. They have a decent happy hour. Be warned, the drinks are very strong. Service can be a bit iffy - the most recent time I was here, our order wasn't taken for about 20 minutes and the wait time for food was a bit long (probably a half hour or more). Also if you have sensitive hearing, try to avoid sitting towards the back of the restaurant. We were sat next to the speakers and they were obnoxiously loud. read more

Next time you go to Montezuma make sure don't ask for glass of water, because you will be surprised what you can find. My wife and I when there to have dinner and a couple of drinks as that's one of our favorite local bars. We have a great time but after I asked for another glass of water and I noticed something inside my glass and I used my phone light to see what it was and there was a bug (cockroach) on my glass of water and I told one of the bartenders and he really didn't care that much as he just said oh ok ! and changed the glass of water. You're better off going somewhere in downtown manhattan if you're willing to spend a good amount of money-that way you'll get good food, drinks and be in a nicer/safer area. This last time I went, my sister and I had to flag down the waiter and host each time we wanted another drink or any service at all. The waiter didn't attend to us the way he was supposed to. It is also very dark, so I wouldn't go in a large group, it's more for an intimate setting yet the music is extremely loud so it's hard to hear. I would say it's a good place to bring your spouse if you're trying not to hear them all night but then again, it's not worth the money. The food is good but definitely over priced for the location. The service was great, very attentive and intuitive. The food was great. We all enjoyed our choices and were satisfied by the portions. They have great presentation and it all felt like a treat! their salsa was noticeably good! The ambiance was torturous. We arrived at 6pm on a Sunday, finding parking meant our party didn't all sit down until almost 7pm. The lights were dimmed so badly by the time we were ready to order that we had to ask them to raise them. That helped but they were turned down again in the middle of our meal. Glad we were able to see what we were eating early on. Then 9pm rolled around and a huge screen descended upon us. A dj began pumping out music so loud that we could no longer communicate comfortably. This was quickly followed by hookah smoking which was a huge turn off. It was like traveling back to 1999 when smoking was allowed and we went to shady establishments. Sadly we were no longer young and stupid so didn't enjoy choking on smoke while trying to enjoy margaritas and grown conversation. Overall this place has become a cliche people with tight jeans fill its seats to inhale toxic fumes while paying way too much for their meal.
