While their taco prices have gone up, they've done away with brunch, still charge a fee for using a card and no longer serve you free chips unlike other taco establishments- the food they serve here is sublime. They consistently provide substantial portions, along with mouth-watering flavors. I came here for taco Tuesday and must I say this place does not disappoint! We were seated promptly and were given time to look over their large menu. The food is made fresh so be patient if your starving. There Mojitos are strong and really good! This is the place to go to on Taco Tuesday! Got an order of tacos that kept me feeling full the rest of the day. I've never seen the taco ingredients they used in any other place serving Mexican cuisine. My plate included radishes, cherry tomatoes, corn, lettuce, and cucumbers. It reminded me of the Dominican food I grew up eating. Definitely an interesting fusion of Latin cuisine. The veggies are very nutritious and have the added bonus of being priced reasonably. This is really my spot. This restaurant has been holding me down since I moved to the Bx a few years ago. My favorite things to order are the seafood fajitas or the tacos (shrimp or fish). Of the many times I've ordered, there's only been two delivery hiccups resulting in really late deliveries. They're usually on time and the food is still hot when you receive it. My family and I came here for dinner afyer one of my son's courses at Fordham University. We were starving and, yet again, Yelp came through when we started searching for optimal dining options. I am SO in love with one of the Northeast locations that, when I saw there was one nearby, I jumped on the opportunity to try them out. Unfortunately, this location just doesn't compare to the Estrellita Poblana IV location on Tremont Ave, IMO. My husband may disagree because he used to work at St. Barnabas Hospital and this was his go-to lunch spot but his opinion doesn't count here...lol Mostly, I was not impressed by the service. The food is still very good. I love the Shrimp Enchiladas Suiza. It doesn't matter which location I visit, I WILL order this every time. This restaurant is much smaller than the Tremont location and they don't offer much in the alcohol department. With that being said, the restaurant is very clean and parking was readily available, right in front. I would probably come back just because they're so close. The salsa was nice and smoky and the chips weren't fresh out the oil but they were good. I ordered the Barbacoa tacos (the goat...they also have beef). My boyfriend ordered the steak tacos. Let me just say that they give you a huge amount of meat in each taco. They have a $9 special for three tacos and I could only eat two. The goat in my tacos was very tender and I thoroughly enjoyed them with some lime and pickled onions (yes I added more onions on top of the onions already on the taco...so what) which they give you on the side to add. I tried my boyfriend's tacos and I liked the steak better. The flavor was better, but honestly both were good. We also ordered juice. I had tamarindo and bae had fresh pressed OJ. The juice was good as well. The music they were playing was great, a lot of Spanish trap (which I like). The service was prompt and our waiter was nice and our total check came to $27. Both locations if not all raised their prices up before the pandemic and the quantity has totally went down. Good for the price. It was my last meal in the Bronx before I moved. As you can see, I ordered a chicken caesar salad. Was it the greatest caesar salad I ever got? No. Was it worth the price? YES! This is the exact reason I love the non-chain restaurants. The salad had an entire chicken breast that made the salad actually filling. The chicken was kind of rubbery in certain bites, but I did not expect the chicken to be cooked perfectly. You were also given chips with salsa for the table. I tried each of the salsas and the green(Verde) was my favorite. The pickled veggies were very spicy and the two red ones were pretty similar. The service was acceptable. At one point, my server forgot to refill my water and you could see on her face that she felt bad about it, I do not know why but that made me feel less angry about the empty water. The food was absolutely delicious!!! The service could be better; they don't accommodate infants very well. They had a high chair but the waitress never offered it. She wanted us to pull the stroller up to the table...so I just grabbed the highchair myself. It's not a big space at all the being able to fold the stroller was very convenient. I'd say leave stroller in the car. We also had to ask for a place setting and plate for the baby. Eventually our waitress caught on; she brought more napkins as she saw it was a messy experience lol. Only issue for me was that I was expecting to have a nice strong margarita and they dont serve liquor. Best steak burrito ever! Worth the money! They are not cheap with the meat potions! Love their red and green (Avo sauce). I ordered delivery and it arrived within 20mins! That's more than I can say for other take out places. Food is great and fresh. However, they charge $15 for a large guacamole with a side of chips and the large isn't even that big, I've never been charged that much for a large guacamole, again HOWEVER I have tried their guacamole when I dined at their restaurant and honestly it was the best I've ever had; not too chunky and the perfect about of Citrus. Tiny place. Tables and chairs were closely packed together but food is good. Guacamole appetizer was pretty large, and could probably feed three to four people. Ordered the mole poblano enchiladas and chose the cheese option. Food was served pretty quickly and when I cut into my enchilada and took the first bite without looking, I discovered that they were filled with steak. I'm not much of a meat person, so I told the waitress I ordered cheese enchiladas. She seemed confused and told me she heard me order steak, but I specifically said "QUESO" (in Spanish) when I ordered. She said she'd have them made again and a few minutes later a man came out to ask me if I didn't like the steak. I had to explain again that I didn't order steak to begin with. My cheese enchiladas came out several minutes later. The queso fresco wasn't melted inside, but I ate them anyway because I wasn't about to complain again. I was only able to finish half of the plate because I was full from the guacamole and rice and beans, which were delicious. I'm giving them four stars for the food itself. I kind of felt like I was being questioned about my order when it was them who got it wrong. I only took the first bite because I wasn't looking, so it's not like I ate and then complained later. Big time recommend. From the service to the food this is a hidden treasure on Arthur Avenue. The tamiles were so good, they were like the Cuban ones my mom use to make. The steak with onions, was made to perfection, with onions that were not dried out. The rice and black beans were exceptional. This place is not stingy with their food and prices are affordable. Where, of all places, would you find a great Mexican restaurant in the Bronx? I bet you weren't thinking of Arthur Avenue (Little Italy), but surprises come in all shapes and forms. The portions are pretty good. They range from decently sized to "Oh my goodness... I can't take another bite." And the prices are reasonable too. The food I order here would easily cost at least $15 to $25 in Manhattan, but only cost about $10 to $15 here. But how does it all taste? Amazing. Yes, Estrellita Poblana has delicious Mexican food. I crave the stuff. I ordered the "carnitas servidas con guacamole de la casa (pulled pork served with guacamole)" and loved the stuff. The carnitas were so juicy, flavorful, and soft, yet they had that nice, crisp outer layer that comes with pan-frying the carnitas after long hours of slow cooking. The rice and beans were a great accompaniment, and the guacamole only made it that much better. And unlike other places that give a pinky sized amount of guacamole as an excuse for a serving, they give a whole wallop of the stuff. As an avocado lover, I definitely appreciate this. Chips and salsa (which are as addictive as drugs since I subconsciously stuff my face with chips) are complimentary, and certain dishes, like the carnitas, come with tortillas. I don't know how they do it, but the small container of tortillas seems to be bottomless. It's as if there is a little man constantly making tortillas in that container. I have never reached the bottom since I always get so full before I get the opportunity to. I will get there one day! I will solve the mystery of the never-ending tortillas! The service is very friendly. Perhaps they're a little slow at times, but they are, for the most part, polite. The biggest problem about the place may be its small size. The place can get packed really quickly, and it's really necessary to call in if you are coming in with a big party. And don't even think about coming here without calling in, regardless the party size, on Cinco de Mayo. This place gets packed and a line goes out the door. By far the best Mexican cuisine you can get in the Belmont area. To start, the sangria is very good and the guacamole is a must. I've had the burritos, tacos, enchiladas, quesadillas, and fajitas with various meat and veggie fillings. All are a good choice and come with a side of rice and beans. Slammin'! I am a fan of the other Estrella on White Plains Rd, so walking along Arthur Ave, I figured I couldn't go wrong. The setup is different from the White Plains Rd. spot. It's actually smaller, but it's much more cozier. I ordered up some steak tacos and they were perfect. I could eat there everyday and never get tired. The service is on point. Waited over an hour and a half, and upon getting the food was immediately disappointed with the quality of Mexican food. The large order of chips and guacamole came with 4 chips and the burritos were poorly wrapped and lacked flavor. If I was deserted on a dessert island I would opt to eat sand, and if I had the ability to go back in time and fix one thing in my life it would be to never order from this restaurant.
