I was in the area to pick up a cake from Susie's (highly recommend) and decided to check this out as I was having a craving for Italian (an Italian craving Italian food, go figure). The place was slow, but it was early still so I'm sure it would pick up at dinner time. The bartender was very accommodating and attentive. He was actually very talkative and struck up some good conversations. The place had the upscale feel to it as well, so it would work well for date nights.

Viviana invited me back after my last review. The chef brought out an array of dishes and everything was absolutely delicious! Our favorite was the paella and Maiale. The pork shoulder fell apart in your mouth and was so flavorful! Each dish was seasonal and we had a lovely selection of fresh seafood. Thank you Viviana!

Having eaten at Montesacro SOMA many times, we were excited about Montesacro Marina. So when some friends asked us to check it out we were all over it! We started with the pork Porchetta, Slow Roasted Pork, Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Sea Salt, Fennel and Oranges, Olives. The oranges, fennel and pork was a heavenly combination! Second was the CARBONARA. Rigatoni, Egg Yolk, Guanciale, Pecorino, Black Pepper. Perfect. Loved the Rigatoni! Next came the Roman Pinsas: CLASSIC MARGHERITA - Tomato, Mozzarella, Basil and the MONTESACRO - Potato, Artichokes, Lamb Sausage, Buffalo Mozzarella, Chili All fantastic!! The wine pairings and service were heavenly!! We'll be back!!

I started the new year with brunch on New Year's Day here. We were seated at a window table that had a nice view of outside & was decorated with holiday lights. They have a brunch menu that includes bottomless cocktails for $23 (choice of mimosa, Aperol Spritz, espresso martini or Bloody Mary). I started with a mimosa & my friend had an Aperol Spritz. Yum! For starters, we had the pulpo, which is tender & flavorful. We also shared a kale salad (to be healthy). I had the eggs Benedict which featured prosciutto. The eggs were perfectly poached and the hollandaise sauce was yummy. My friend said that she enjoyed her steak & eggs. We had several more cocktails (since they were bottomless). Excellent service from our server who was very nice & made some menu suggestions too. We weren't rushed & were able to ring in the new year with a great brunch.

Slightly disappointed after seeing all the wonderful reviews. 5/5 for service! 3/5 overall for the food (maybe because of the high expectations?) Service was quick and attentive. The table next to us was celebrating a birthday, and I don't think I've seen waitstaff more patient or more enthusiastic in helping to celebrate her birthday. Props to them! Lychee martini- 5/5 honestly don't think I've ever tasted a lychee martini that went wrong Amatriciana- 3/5 nice chewy noodles, on the saltier side. A bit forgettable. Centocelle- 2/5 sounded delicious in theory, but ended up tasting like 5 separate pizzas. Quite a lot to put on one pizza when none of it really went together Arancini- 4/5 probably my favorite of the meal (my partner, not so much) I might describe it as fancy Mac and cheese balls

Saw Montesacro's happy hour featured in a reel and I knew I had to come in for those sweet deals! Only problem, the deals were made to look a bit sweeter than they actually are. So, here we have another case of expectations that weren't met. Good: -Both the indoor seating and the parklettes were really nice! We sat in the parklettes, and you almost didn't event realize you were on the street in SF. They weren't too loud, and felt clean. -The happy hour apertivo deal was great, $8 for any of the apertivo/spritz drinks, as well as house wine and a pilsner on tap. I ordered the spagliato and hugo spritz and enjoyed both - perfect for summer sipping! Meh: -Pinsetta Margherita, while this actually tasted really good, it was so small. I wouldn't have been as disappointed if the reel I saw didn't show a full Pinsa but advertise their $10 happy hour pinsa's. Probably better off getting a full one than the happy hour since 1 full one is cheaper than 2 of these tiny ones. -Service was nothing special, not really friendly or welcoming. We often sat there for a while with empty glasses before getting helped, mind you we were the only two people there. -Suppli al telefono, also known as mozzarella rice croquettes. They were fine, they were a decent size and had a good crisp to them, but really nothing special, and I wouldn't get them again. Bad: -The charcuterie plate, also called the Tagliere misto. This was thoroughly disappointing. We weren't told what the items were when it were delivered, but the meat was mortadella and I couldn't tell you what the cheese was, because I've never had a cheese that tasted quite like it. It tasted chalky and like hay on a working animal farm. We tried so hard to make it better with the honey and the meat, but there was no getting past that flavor or smell. Probably won't come back here, though if I did if would be for one of those happy hour spritz's.

The burrito salad was alright, could have used a little more flavor in my opinion. I really like the small plates and sharing atmosphere of this place, and appreciate all of the vegetarian forward options. The space is small and intimate, definitely great for a date night or girls night! I will say if you make a reservation (I'd recommend, it's a small place and gets busy) be sure to be prompt as part of our group was running about 10 minutes late, and the servers kindly let us know we only had the table for an hour and a half, which is fairly strict on weekends.

I also appreciated the non-alcoholic options, including my favorite Fentiman's rose lemonade. I would definitely recommend this place, especially for happy hour. My only small critique is the restroom, since the entire restaurant is so classy and chic, it would have been the perfect finishing touch if the restrooms matched the same vibe.

And the service matches that energy perfectly: polished, warm, and present without hovering. And don't skip the cocktails. They're a core part of the experience. Their version of an Espresso Martini was my favorite of the night... and I'm not even a coffee drinker. Foodwise, everything was paced beautifully. We started with their playful "smoke break," a crunchy seaweed cigar stuffed with sweet Dungeness crab and caviar. The agnolotti was filled with ricotta and goat cheese, layered with Burgundy truffle and mushroom, and tied together with an aromatic onion porcini consommé. Warm malted pretzel bread came next with a silky Mornay sauce topped with caviar and mustard for dipping. The brandade of salted cod with light, airy whipped potatoes disappeared in a few spoonfuls, and the dry-aged kampachi mosaic, paired with truffle purée and finished with uni béarnaise and more truffle, was one of those bites you pause for. The highlight was the two-part course: matsutake chawanmushi with crab dashi and browned butter, paired with unbelievably tender abalone finished with a sauce made from its own liver. Closing: Bar Crenn isn't about big portions or spectacle. It's about intention, atmosphere, and a rare level of refinement that still feels welcoming. If you're looking for a special night that feels transportive from the moment you sit down, this is absolutely worth the reservation. 5 stars.

Space is beautiful, low lights, wood paneling, velvet seats, a very relaxing but elegant design. Drinks: Mizuwari - good, this is prebatched and carbonated upon service, nice light fruity flavors with a light sparkling effervescence, whisky definitely more in the background, didn't pick up much floral in this one either but enjoyed it Arlequin - good, nice creamy foamy texture from the egg white, nice acidity, with subtle berry notes, and a whisper of scotch in the finish, a very unique take on a whisky sour Baxter - boozy and on the sweeter side, with a strong cognac flavor in the finish, fruity upfront, a slow sipper Food: Nori Rolls: great, loved the fresh Dungeness crab within the crispy nori shell almost like a wafer texture with just a little bit of rice to hold it together, grab was sweet with a subtle saltiness, chives added a burst of light delicate onion flavor, came with two small pieces per order Scallop Tacos: good, thin slices of raw scallops topped with mildly spiced xo sauce, on a very crispy chip like textured shell, the citrus added a burst of freshness, good but was expecting more of a traditional taco with a tortilla, this was a canape sized bite Pretzel Bread with Mornay sauce - pretzel i believe was a buckwheat base so a bit more dense than i was expecting, nice salty crust, mornay sauce was very tart and acidic with a thin runny texture, mustard forward as well, had higher hopes for this wouldn't recommend if you are expecting a classic pretzel Lobster Roll - served in a brioche bun that was a bit dense and lacked the airiness I was expecting, lobster was also a tad tough and chewy, loaded with bearnaise which was creamy and rich with a subtle saltiness but overpowered by the hot sauce served ontop Paris Breast: highlight of the night, really light airy choux with a slight crisp exterior filled with a delicious lightly sweetened vanilla cream, passionfruit orange and guava in the curd and filling was also excellent and made for an exciting end to the meal. Service was solid fairly attentive, plates and serviceware and water refilled and refreshed throughout. Food was well paced. Drinks took a little time to order but understandable given there were only two bartenders for the evening. Overall Bar Crenn was a little disappointing, other than dessert nothing was particularly note worthy. Cocktails were good but not outstanding, small bites were pretty hit or miss with small portion sizes. Glad i got to try this spot but not likely to return.
