I wish I could write a better review but I'm so disappointed by what was previously a great place to rent. The buildings are quite dated and the updates that have been made are of the cheapest quality. The old carpeting in the buildings was replaced last year...we all thought what had been placed was the liner and the installation people would be returning to lay the actual carpet. No...the carpet is just that thin and it causes sound to reverberate through the halls. The vinyl flooring in some units is cheap quality and poorly installed, so that it's constantly lifting. They continue to permit cigarette smoking on patios and balconies, and public areas around the site, which means there's smoke coming in through the windows, patio/balcony doors, and vents, regardless of whether you smoke. The complex spent three years and a lot of money to update the property, with the pool and hot tub, bbq area, and clubhouse were all unavailable during this time. The big reveal after all the work reflected that the only thing changed for residents was a nicer bbq area. The pool and hot tub, and all the chaises, tables, and umbrellas are the same that have been there since my initial residency. The clubhouse, which is only open during the management's working hours (unless reserved for a private event), is gorgeous but the main change is a remodel of the office space. The management and facilities staff are the only people who use the "clubhouse," and in great part due to the hours it's accessible as well as the fact that whenever someone goes in there, it feels as if you're interrupting the office staff having their breaks, hanging out and snacking, etc. All the parking spots were redesignated this past year as "assigned" spots, in a clear attempt to increase income for the management company. Residents must pay an additional fee monthly to reserve a spot, covered or not, and there are virtually no unassigned spots for additional resident cars or guests. The office staff regularly "patrol" the parking area for parkers who aren't "registered" and when discovering someone, send an email blast to the entire community calling out the car's identifying details and threatening to have the vehicle towed within a certain number of minutes if it's not moved. During weekends, the Springwood staff tend to park in the spots reserved for "new residents." Management sends email frequently admonishing residents that they've "been told" they cannot have anything on their balconies/patios, hallways, lobbies, etc. as if the residents are young children. I don't like when people break rules meant to ensure people's enjoyment of their rented home either, but there's a way to do this respectfully and a way to make people feel bad. When there are problems with the laundry room machines, the office staff will not assist. The response is that they haven't been trained on how to use the equipment or its software and residents have to contact the vendor (which never seems to result in a response). A dryer has been non-functional for months but despite numerous requests, the management staff have done nothing to ensure that it's repaired or replaced. With only 4 washers and 4 dryers per building, having one out of order creates a difficult situation for residents trying to do their laundry. On the plus side, the maintenance staff are without exception friendly and responsive. The apartments are in a great location and the people living there are generally quite nice, but there are few amenities and the management staff sometimes make residents feel like interlopers.

The pool and gym are both very nice, and the courtyards outside each apartment hallway are full of flowers and fountains, which is such a nice added touch. There are also a ton of restaurants and shops within walking distance as well as a library. While my apartment and the complex are both beautiful what really has stood out to me since moving here are the staff members. The staff at the Podium have been extremely reliable and accommodating. Especially Ashley, the apartment manager, and the maintenance man (unfortunately have not caught his name yet) - they have been absolutely wonderful. Ashley responds very quickly to emails and is very accommodating. All maintenance requests are handled very quickly as well. They both go above and beyond to make sure residents are having a great experience. I really enjoy living at The Podium, and I would recommend it highly.

What made The Meadows so great was the combination of the people, the property, and the location. The management and maintenance teams were wonderful throughout my time here, the community was friendly, and the grounds were always exceptionally clean and beautifully maintained. There's a ton of greenery throughout the property, and it always felt like the people taking care of the community genuinely cared about making it a nice place to live. That experience started before I even moved in. The leasing staff took the time to understand what I was looking for and helped me find a unit that fit my preferences. They were even gracious enough to work with me on getting a better deal. Looking back, that first interaction was a pretty good indication of how I'd be treated over the next three years. I also really appreciated how reasonable management was when it came to renewals. Even with the rent-control limits on annual increases, my rent generally went up by less than what they could have charged. I never felt like management was trying to squeeze as much as possible out of existing residents, which unfortunately isn't something I can say about every apartment community in the Bay Area. Maintenance was excellent too, although, honestly, the fact that I only had a single maintenance request in more than three years probably says something on its own. When I did need help, everyone I interacted with was friendly and helpful. The Meadows is also easily one of the cleanest apartment communities I've ever seen. When I moved in, it was obvious that they had put real care into preparing and cleaning the unit. As someone who is pretty particular about keeping my own home clean, I appreciated that. I noticed the same attention to detail when I moved out and saw the cleaning checklist they use to prepare apartments for the next resident. It was surprisingly close to the kind of checklist I'd make myself. My apartment had wonderful natural light and became an incredibly cozy home for me. I faced the expressway, and while there was a small amount of road noise, it was never enough to really bother me. More than anything, I loved coming home every day. That may be the simplest and most important compliment I can give a place where I spent more than three years. The location was great as well. There are restaurants and grocery stores nearby, plenty of good routes for running and walking, and it's incredibly easy to get onto highways. The property itself also has great amenities, and I particularly appreciated how well the gym was maintained. Despite being so conveniently located, the community always felt comfortable and safe. I never felt uneasy living or walking around here. There were also community events throughout the year that brought residents together. I certainly didn't go to every one, but I appreciated that they existed and that management put real effort into making The Meadows feel like a community rather than just a collection of apartments. Even moving out was surprisingly easy. Everything was handled professionally and straightforwardly, without unnecessary stress or surprises. It was nice that my last experience with the management team was just as positive as my first. The only reason I moved was because I wanted to live in a different part of the Bay Area. It had nothing to do with The Meadows itself. Over the years I visited plenty of other apartment communities where friends and coworkers lived, and I honestly never came away wishing I had chosen somewhere else. It's rare to leave an apartment feeling genuinely sad to go, but The Meadows really became home for me. I looked forward to coming home every day, and I'm incredibly happy I stayed as long as I did. And, the best part is this property has been very well managed! Everything at here has been very well-maintained, not only the Porperty Management team is very nice and responsive, but also maintenance staff are very efficient and reliable! What can I ask more? I never need to worry about changing the light bulb or unclogging the shower room, they taking care of all those little problems in my life! When I first asked about the delay, a Prometheus representative admitted they were already aware of an "unexpected error in processing," yet the issue remained unresolved for another two weeks. Prometheus management later cited "internal system glitches" as the reason for the delay and claimed that they had made "every effort" to process and return the refund as promptly as possible, despite the two week lapse between issue escalation and resolution. I've been a renter for nearly 10 years, and this was the slowest and most frustrating deposit return experience I've had. There was no clear response until I threatened a legal review of the timeline and statutory damages for bad faith withholding. 2 stars for the great location.

After our application was approved, we let management know that we have Emotional Support Animals (ESAs) and that our updated documentation from licensed healthcare providers was in progress. Instead of reviewing the request or allowing us time to provide full documentation, Prometheus denied the accommodation altogether -- citing the City of Cupertino's two-dog limit as the reason. That was their only explanation. This is not how California fair-housing law works. Under the Fair Employment and Housing Act (FEHA), housing providers are required to engage in an interactive process and consider ESA requests based on disability-related need, not city pet rules. It's extremely disappointing to have a fully approved lease fall through over something that violates state law. We've filed formal complaints with both the California Civil Rights Department (CRD) and HUD. I'm sharing this so others don't have to go through the same frustration.
