Half Montana, Half Malaysia: MontAsia! Super fun and quirky name. There's not too many choices in Cooke City, let alone Asian cuisine and then Malaysian at that so I was really excited to find this place on Yelp! Cooke City is really just one street so everything is walkable. MontAsia is a small walk-up where you order and there are a couple a picnic tables right outside for you to sit and dine. I started with the Flowerade which was so refreshing! You definitely got floral notes with each sip and it wasn't too sweet. Butterfly pea flower I think is supposed to be good for you too so extra points for health. For the meal we got the Staff Noodles with Tofu which was tossed in seaweed and green onions. This tasted so/so, the noodles were all broken up and short and then tofu was lightly pan fried but the whole dish was a too salty and didn't have any other flavor components than that. We also got a Bison Burger that was served with lots of arugula which we liked and this yellow special sauce. The patty was super juicy and although a little messy to eat, was delicious. The tater tots were nice and crispy but we only got 2 ketchup sauces to eat. We ended the meal with a speciality dessert - the chai brownie which was very sweet. More cinnamon flavor than chai.

Great small restaurant located in the middle of Cooke City. Extensive menu full of a variety of bison and beef goodies. Large drink menu too. Free wifi. (PSA this is the city of no signal, so everyone just uses wifi) The staff folks are super nice. The owner (also the main chef) speaks mandarin, as does the lady who took our order. She was very accommodating with our drink requests for less ice and sugar. Bison King || $13 Tater tots topped with a cut up bison patty, lettuce, sour cream, and guacamole. It's a generous scoop of guac too to balance out the dryness of the meat and tots. A hearty entree large enough to split between 2. Flowerade || ~$3 A cute purple lemonade drink with rose syrup, lime juice, peaflower, and goji berry ice. I got mine with less ice and it was lovely! Tart and refreshing with a balanced sweetness. Wish there was a green color too for the layering, but still a nice drink.

What a great little spot in a great little town. This was one of the best meals we had in the Yellowstone area.

The interior was a little on the dark side, but the warm, inviting vibe pulled us in. We navigated our way to the main section, finding two wonderfully comfortable plush blue chairs next to the bar. The small details immediately caught my attention--each table adorned with fresh flowers in charming vases, adding a thoughtful and personal touch. Our server was genuinely sweet and attentive, setting the tone for a relaxed and enjoyable evening. I did notice they have an outdoor patio out back, but the atmosphere inside was too good to pass up. We began with the spring pea salad--an absolute standout--featuring creamy ricotta, crisp snap peas, fresh mint, and pistachios. It was fresh, crunchy, and beautifully balanced. We added a slice of toasted ciabatta bread, topping it with the salad to make our own bruschetta-style bites, which turned it into a perfect little dish. Next came the spice-roasted carrots, which were every bit as flavorful as they were beautiful, followed by the pork belly barbecue with a blueberry barbecue sauce. The sweetness of the sauce paired beautifully with the rich pork belly, creating a dish that was both comforting and elevated. For drinks, I had the Jayne Mansfield--a bright, refreshing, and totally unique cocktail--while my mom enjoyed the Lauren Bacall, which she loved. The restaurant's name comes from a fun and memorable story: the owners were discussing their plans to open the restaurant when they spotted a one-legged magpie. It stuck--and now it's part of the charm of the place. One Legged Magpie delivers on every level: warm atmosphere, thoughtful touches, incredible food, and a sense of place you won't soon forget. If you're in Red Lodge, this is a must-visit spot.
