I go to Montana's a few times a year with my boyfriend, and we are almost always satisfied when we leave there. The atmosphere is great and most of the food is quite fairly priced, save the ribs (though it's hard for restaurants to lower the price of those too much). We have only tried the ribs on two separate occasions; once a few years ago (in which they were overlooked and tasteless) then again this year (and they were wonderful!). Their sandwiches are very delicious, which is what we normally have. Trying the sandwiches they have to offer would be my first recommendation. Montana's should definitely be a place on your to-go list if you love a good, hearty cookhouse and meal. read more

Their suicide wings are sooooooo good as well as their ribs and Nachos. The atmosphere is spacious and gives you a very comfortable cabin style dinner vibe. The only thing I wish they offered was all you can eat wings like they do with their all you can eat ribs special they have read more

The waitress never came back to our table for refills, my boyfriend order a plater with ribs, brisket and etc and they didn't give him any pulled pork like the menu had said. His brisket was a pure chard of fat. I had a burger that had ZERO flavour and I had to cover in BBQ sauce to even be able to eat. The only good thing was the kapow shrimp appetizer. The bill came to over 70$ which is way too much for such a low flavour meal. I emailed and gave a review to their page but never got a response. read more

I ordered two pounds of wings. When they arrived at my table they weren't particularly hot, but I bit into one and there was blood inside and the bone was red. I'm not new to bone marrow leaving the inside of the bone and turning the meat a reddish tint-no- this. was. blood. I bit into another, same. And another and another until my tin bowl they gave me was filled with wings that had been terribly ripped apart. I flagged a waitress and asked her about it. She said it look fine. I looked at my wife in amazement. My wife perked up and asked for the cook to maybe just whip them in the microwave for a sec. she reluctantly picked them up citing the chef would say they're ok. Weird, I thought. Five minutes passes, which felt like an eternity with my wife's food cooling. The waitress passes, with not even a glance at us. She eventually brought them back and said the chef said they were ok. I said ok, shook my head, and pushed them forward. Needless to say, never going back. read more

If there was a zero stars rating, I'd leave it. Took 10 minutes to get seated. Food took 45 mins to come. All you can eat ribs didn't receive its refill until we were all ready to leave and waiting. No drink refills came. Then, they charged us for an extra table worth of meals we didn't order. When we noticed and asked them to refund it, it took another 45 minutes, all while we have small children waiting to go to bed. This is utterly unacceptable. I will never come here again, and I strongly suggest you don't either. read more

The staff and service here is very good and friendly. They looked after my kids well. The food is ok, I really liked the burgers and ribs, although the fries weren't anything fancy. We've been back several times and had a decent meal each visit. read more

Fun place to go for appetizers, chicken wings, etc. Again I recommend eating in the bar area. Their wings are actually very good. Also recommend the cheese spinach dip and the antojitos. Recently had their Firecracker burger, that was amazing! read more

Chipotle firecracker burger with poutine upgrade. Came to $18.50. The burger was nice, the poutine could use work though. They do not use cheese curds for their poutines, they use shredded marble cheese (just isn't the same :/). Parking is not too hard to find. Customer service was great. About 30 minute wait on a Friday night. read more

Montana's - Comfort Food Near Me - Oshawa, Ontario

Service: The waiter was a great guy, but it was unfortunate that his kitchen couldn't provide food that was to the same calibre of his service. The food took way too long to be anything near enjoyable. Decor: Same as an other Montana's Food: Absolutely terrible. Out of 6 people only 1 dish was warm and the other 5 were cold or put under the heat lamp for a really long time. 3 people got fries, 2 of which were undercooked and almost raw, and 1 of which was burnt. We ordered 2 steaks cooked "medium" that were both left under the lamp and ended up being WELL done. I sent my steak back because it as tough as a shoe. I got it back when everyone was done eating. I didn't even eat it. The manager told me it was because it was a "fresh steak and the kitchen hasn't perfected it yet". My friend who was with us has worked in some of the best restaurants in Canada. He called them out on it and informed the manager it was due to being put under the heat lamps for too long. Also, for a chain they should know exactly how long to put the steak down on each side before flipping. Review: Needless to say we will not be returning to this location nor to any other location of Montana's. I might drop by just to pick up some comp appetizers but that's about it. The food was absolutely horrendous. It was prepared all wrong and the timing of the kitchen was all wrong. The manager tried to make it up and comped the steak for me. That's fine because I didn't even eat it but this trip left me hungry and very frustrated. When we told the manager about all the other problems with our meal, she gave us a bit of a discount and comp appetizers. Reason for stars: I would give the food " MINUS 2" stars. The waiter tried his best and had to come by about 4 times to apologize. I would give him a solid 4 stars. For how much we spent, the experience was terrible. The food and kitchen staff literally left a bad taste in my mouth. . read more

Sorry, but the last time we were in for lunch on August 29, 2019, we had the fish and chips. It was so salty that we could not finish it. Usually when we go for lunch or dinner we are satisfied. Not sure that we will be back any time soon. read more

Terrible service. We went for dinner with the kids during the weeknight. It wasn't busy at all! Maybe a dozen people in the restaurant. The waitress said hello and made small talk with us and walked right by. Thinking she was coming back to seat us we waited for about 10 mins for someone. No one came! We could see the other servers talking with other tables and no one bothered to attend to us. We walked right out and seen two staff members out front smoking. Not cool. Ended up going to east side Mario's instead. read more

Ordered the firecracker burger over the phone. I was wondering why they sounded so annoyed with me. I didn't realize the time when I placed my order. Instead of telling me they would be closed, they told me the order would be ready in 15-20 minutes. Wasted my time and gas... could have just told me you were closing. read more

Found out drug use is quite popular here, and was very displeased after the manager came over and talked poorly about our waitress to us, even though she was doing a great job. When it came to food, it was good but they put their worst drinks on special to get them out there, worst drink I ever tasted, but they refuse to give the money back for the drink, so I paid for a drink I took a single sip from. I am a Montanas fan, but not of this one. Ps. dont have the smoked peach lemonade or whatever it is called, it is terrible read more

This was the 1st time at the Oshawa location north location . We went their for a birthday party .my wife steak was hard to cut it was dry ,and no taste. I had the back ribs ( unlimited) you only get 6( ribs) at a time . You have to get you server to order another Rack ( 6 ribs ) . After that you only get (3 ribs ) at a time each time you order it takes 10 minutes to get each order . I don't think we will ever go back again . read more

Stood in the doorway for awhile before anyone even came to seat us and then tried to put 6 adults and 2 children with highchair in a booth. We can live with that but what was worse was the "fall off the bone" ribs! Could barely get the knife through the meat let alone fall off. Actually the worst I have ever eaten. Then the bill was wrong for 8 people. Don't think I will go back there, and wont recommend for sure. read more

Worst service ever. I saw a rat in the restaurant, service is very slow! Do not eat here it's gross

We arrived at this location, which is near our home, on a Sunday for lunch. We had relatives with us visiting from Europe, so we thought this would be a fun place to take them for a meal. I hadn't been to this location for quite awhile. The place was virtually empty, which should have sent off alarm bells. Noon on a Sunday? There were eight of us, which is not a huge number in an empty retaurant. We waited exactly 1 hour and ten minutes after ordering to get our meal. I had soup, my grandson had a plate of fries and with the exception of 2 meals the rest were wings. Okay we were willing to forgive the wait time. Things went downhill from there. Overcooked (burnt) meatloaf, mixed up orders, and a really disgusting wrap with a major overload of cheese and not much else. Talk about embarassing when you want to impress. Our server was pleasant, and that's all that can be said for this poor excuse for a nice time out. The manager took something off the bill, but lets face it, the damage has been done. won't go back for sure. read more

I have been here numerous times. At this I will say it is a chain restaurant so to expect higher order. Is not going to happen. I did like their steaks and fajitas My wife's B day so we went there. Had the spinach dip opener. For starts the bread you use to dip was burnt hard. Table we were at had no cutlery. I ordered the new beef brisket and rib combo. My wife the pulled pork. We travel all over N America for BBQ pit food. I didn't expect much. But this was very poor. The brisket is not smoked. Maybe liquid smoke, but it has to come from a pre cooked bag. Too salty and no texture. no smoke. Like something you buy frozen at wal mart. The ribs were OK. Not much meet and a bad cut hard to work with. But flavour was alright.. My wife had the pulled pork. Which was as dry and chewy as sawdust. Inedible. She left 3/4 of it behind. My kids chicken ceaser was fine and my baked potato was fine. Also the coleslaw among the worst I have had. No bite. Lots of end cabbage stock and very very bland. For the 80 bucks, I won't be returning for a while. If I do I will order the steak or fajita. read more

Walked in and were told it would be a 15 minute wait as the kitchen is backed up - with only 1/3-1/2 of tables in use.

Good ribs but not fall off the bone. Mushroom smothered chicken was a generous serving of chicken with mushroom sauce, rice and steamed vegetables. Very nice selection of desserts. Great attentive service. Nice family restaurant. read more

The rid poutine is really good and it's so much fun to color on the tables, fun place to go with your date

I wrote this review in September (2018), but I just went into Yelp again and noticed it never posted. I picked Montana's cause I was craving their dusted crispy onions. Phone lines were down so we couldn't make a reservation, Waited for like 40 minutes before we sat. When looking at the menu, I asked the waitress what cilantro was and she said "hang on, I'll Google it". Seriously??? My son asked if they had any milkshakes and she said "no" but when I opened the menu, there was one right there. I pointed it out and all she said was "oh...look at that!". My son also asked if they had fajitas. She said "we do!" I said "Really? I must have missed that. Where is it on the menu?" She looked and realized they don't have any and again, said "ooops". When dinner came, the onions weren't really dusted and were cold and slimy. Waitress brought me out another order and they were the same! Potato was so cold the butter didn't melt. My daughter's nachos were cold, as were my husband's ribs and potato. The only hot thing on the table were the beans and my steak. Kids ordered the "ultimate cookie". It arrived with no ice cream on top. I called the waitress over and showed her the picture in the menu and showed her the kids plates. I said "what's wrong with this?" She brought over some ice cream, but not before their cookies were half eaten. I complained (not to the manager like I should have). Bill came at full price. I'm boycotting the other Montana's in Whitby because of these exact problems. Ugh!!!!! After all was said and done, I still didn't get my crispy dusted onions. read more

Service by Joe was awesome! Great sense of humor, polite and attentive! The food? Well...the gravy was thicker than the garlic mashed potatoes! The ribeye wasn't too bad, definitely will go to the Keg next time for garlic mashed potatoes tho! read more

We went here with out hockey team after the game. We had to get our own menus. The waitress sat us and seemed to forget about us. In addition it took over half an hour to get our drinks and the food took way too long. Over an hour. Some people at our table didn't even get their food. 2 hours later they were still waiting. Some of them were kids. We asked to speak to the manger on duty and he told one of the parents at our table that he did not want to come out and talk to our table because he didn't want to deal with it. The waitress said his name was Ryan or Brian. He clearly doesn't care about his customers or have any sense of how to run a restaurant. We will NEVER return to that restaurant again!!! read more

My mother and I went for dinner and while we were waiting for our food, we, along with the couple seated behind us, watched a MOUSE run across the floor from under tables, stop, look, and continue into a hole in the base of the wall. One of the waitresses saw it too and continued on with what she was doing like it was something she saw every day. We told what looked to be the manager about the occurrence and he said, "We are aware of the issue and we have a program in place to take care of it." He never apologized and seemed irritated that we mentioned it. MICE are dirty and carry diseases, not something that should be in an establishment that serves food. I did not pay $30/person for my meal to watch mice run around the restaurant. ABSOLUTELY APPALLED!!! This restaurant should be shut down, at least until the infestation is resolved!!! read more

VERY disappointed and NOT impressed with the management at Montana's Oshawa. Made a reservation for 15 people on Sat 11th for a birthday party and later had to up it to 17. I called 2 hours before our reserved time to add the 2 extra people, the girl on the phone said it was no problem. I even further asked to make sure because it was such a large reservation on a busy night if this was going to be alright and she assured me it was good. We then arrive at Montana's to see there is not enough room at all. When the manager comes over she is VERY rude, says if the reservation had changed she would have known about it because she is the only one who can make reservations... (then WHY the heck are other people answering the phone and doing it). She did not admit a fault at all, blamed myself for the problem, then said we can wait for the family beside us to finish there dinner and add that table to ours. We then only had one waitress (who did a good job for being alone), so food was messed up and slow and bills were all wrong and took forever to get (over 3 hours for everything). NOT RECOMMENDED FOR A GROUP DINNER. (If you do make a reservation make sure it is with the manager because apparently you are supposed to know that..................) read more

Do not waste your time. New management. Went at 830 pm not busy at all , took over 1hr to get food for 5 of us and 2 of the 5 were appetizers, not once did anyone see if we needed more drinks or say order would be longer than normal. When food did come out manager and waitress brought food, manager brought a plate that is a platter of mixed food the potatoe skins where burnt and hard as a rock. As a manager I would expect him to notice this and not bring it out. Poutine was ice cold cheese curds weren't even melting. Asked for burger to be medium well it was medium rate and fries ice cold. I called manager over gave him my thoughts and said we are not going to eat this , we are going to get up and leave. He said sorry. Really sorry!!! read more

Spend your Money on better food and service somewhere else. I have never had such a bad experience with a restaurant as this one. We were sat down away from everyone and by the front door where it was freezing. It took almost 10 mins before a server even approached us. He never offered to let us know any specials and was looking around more then paying attention to us when taking our order. I ordered a starter salad but did not receive it till my main. When the food came, my friends wraps were not cooked. We looked around to try and find our waiter, but he was now where to be found, but eventually we did see him and he must of been on break as we saw him walking around afterwards with his coat on. We finally notified hostess that we would like help as our food was not cooked and we were sitting with empty glasses. Another waitress finally came and when we told her, all she did was say sorry and then got us our bill. Over charged us as well. Do not waste your time here. Other rib, steak and wing places with way better service in the area read more

From start to finish our meal was great. Thanks in part to attentive staff (Mia in particular). We started with the spinach dip which was awesome. I had a coupon which they honored no problem (no need to print anything or use a code, just show the e-mail). They have the best naan bread around and they deep fry it, yum! Our meals were exactly what we ordered, was fresh and delicious. Will definitely come again! read more

Went here with my wife. We ordered just a simple dinner. Food was well prepared. A few minor hiccups with our dinner but was really impressed by Bobbie (our server) and Scott (the manager). They both really stepped up and made everything right. Was impressed by the level of attention and willingness to make sure our experience was a positive one. We will be back. Thanks again to them both read more

It seems, the food is a hit and miss depending on who the chef or cook may be and time of day. Was there for dinner just after Christmas in 2016 and the food was fabulous. Was there this past Sunday (April 23) for late lunch. Both times we started with appetizers of steak bites and loaded potatoe skins. Unfortunately, this time around, they were not as good. Both were over cooked, steak bites were well done and dry and the skins had a burnt taste. So, I'm on the fence of wanting to try these again anytime soon. The service was great. read more
