I walked across the street to this place from my hotel. I ordered some soup and a dessert to go. Before I left, I asked the server if there were utensils in the taped up bag for the soup and dessert. She said yes, "everything was in the bag". Got back to the hotel to find that there was no utensils for the soup, and the cardboard soup bowl was less than half full. I called and spoke to the manager who gave me excuse after excuse. in doing this review, I noticed, and was not surprised, by the two star rating that it had. Made a reservation and called to request a table that we could watch a Maple Leafs game. I was told on the phone that it would be no problem. When we arrived, we were brought to a table that did not have a view of any TV. The hostess said it was the only available table unless we wanted to wait. Don't understand the purpose of a reservation. We chose to sit at the bar to watch the game. Food was average, nothing special at all. Service was lacking. The last time I had it I got sauce all over my fingers but this time they were fairly clean so either I have become less messy or the burger was not as saucy. Either way the burger was still fairly good so I was satisfied with it. The server we got was very friendly and attentive even though he was busy. The decor here is the same as any other Montana's which is why I get confused as to which location I have been to. The place was not too loud and we were near the TVs so we got to enjoy some games while eating. Overall, this is not a bad choice in terms of food in the area. Stopped by for dinner at this Montanas yesterday evening, I would give this Montanas a 3 star. Due to covid they have tents set up outdoor. I cannot speak for inside the restaurant since I was dining outdoor. That evening Montanas wasn't that busy, there were only 2 family's seated outdoor and both familys were already eating there meals. I assumed service would be fast. It took about 10min for the asian waitress to notice I'm seated there, infact I had to wave her down to catch her attention or she would have ran inside. She asked for 2? When clearly there are 2 of us seating here...I replied, yes thank you. She comes out with the menus but I was just so hungry at this point I told her I already know what I want to order. - Chicken fajita dinner - 2piece fish & chips dinner - 2 bigmama, a beer & coke 1 bigmama and the beer came to the table first (10min later) 30min more go by and at this point we are asking each other why is the food taking so long? How long have we been waiting? About 45min total wait and just the fish and chips dinner and the chicken fajita came out... where's the toppings for the chicken fajita and the pitas that comes with? also the rest of the drinks? She says it's on the way 10min passes and it's finally here at this point the main dinner is cold because we had to wait for the remainder of the food to get to the table. Totally inconsiderate knowing we are outdoor it's the evening temperature drops, its really common sense. Why bother bringing part of our meal out? Future note: bring the entire meal out at once and if you are unable to bring the entire meal how about start bringing out the cold stuff first..like the toppings, the drinks, the bread. Anyhow! Fish and chips dinner barely got touched, it was mostly bread batter...where was the FISH! Horrible batter taste and the oil it's been fried in NEEDS TO BE CHANGED. Not pleased, I wouldnt recommend. I get it mistakes happen but we were celebrating 2 birthdays and was only given 1 order out of the 2 we ordered and told it's both orders because 1 bag said 1 and the other said 2 get home 1 order is missing so half of the party of 8 now don't have food and a meal is missing from the other bag which was received. Of course both meals that are sitting at the restaurant belong to the birthday boy and girl so now it's hell having spent almost $200. Call and no one can figure it out until a manager gets on the phone make the 20 minute drive back when food has been sitting there for over 40 minutes to be handed 1 bag which isn't the whole rest of the order having to tell them there's more missing and clueless looks. I've been to Montana's many times but I think this was my best experience. You go here for strangers to sing you happy birthday. This location in Etobicoke by the Queenway is quite popular and always busy. The waitress was quiet friendly and attentive. I had a lovely time dining here and spent about two hours. We used a coupon to have the appetizer for free. It was so worth it. We chose the oven-baked antojitos. I could eat this all my life. The satisfaction factor is like 100% and it's their signature appetizer. Cheese, jalapeno, onion and red pepper rolled in a tortilla and baked "til it all melts together". Served with pesto sour cream for $11.99. There were seven pieces layerd out on a bed of green leafed lettuce. Entrée was delicious as well. The baked chicken penne was tender chicked breast tossed in a roasted garlic rose sauce with penne. Over-baked with cheddar cheese and served with one slice of garlic bread. However, I didn't like that it was so tomatoey. They out did themselves with the mile high mud pie. A mountain of layers. Espresso chocolate chuck ice cream, creamy peanut butter, and chocolate ice cream on a crunch chocolate cookie crust. Topped with whipped cream and chocolate sauce.It was frozen and we waited a long time for it. It was thick frozen peanut butter. I've never had a desert of this caliber. Overall, I would definitely go back here for stranger to sing me happy birthday. The manager came to our table to ask us about service. It was nice to give a good review in person. For our last two visits Bessie was our server. She is awesome at her job. Couldn't be more attentive. So we will keep coming back. One thing I noticed, some of the dinner plates are extremely heavy. I wouldn't be surprised if the staff are getting injuries as a result. :( But a great place to dine. read more

We have been coming here for a while and although the service is good and my husband enjoyed his 7 oz carved steak dinner and my daughter her Big Smoke BBQ platter, my 10 oz AAA medium rare Sirloin Steak was another story. It was in a very awkward baseball cut, so spherical it slipped away from the steak knife and so tough it needed a saw to cut. The manager was summoned and he offered me a second 10 oz steak cut flatter but still 2" thick which I photographed. It was almost as hard to saw into as the first steak! The manager apologized and said all their steaks come pre-cut from Cardinal Meats. Shame on Montana's supplier Cardinal Meats for sending steaks cut like this! I probably will come again but not till I've spoken with Montana's corporate owners at Cara. They have a supply chain quality control problem! read more

Drumroll, the winner of worst restaurant experience of the year goes to: THIS Montanas I've always been intrigued by Chain Restaurants that ignore Quebec. I normally avoid these types of places back home, but I go out of my way to go when they don't have a Quebec address. This is one of those places that has a nice glossy menu, generic harmless decor and fake ambiance. I would expect the food to be ok-good to great (if we're lucky) The last thing on my mind would be the service, it's normally much better at these corporate places with employee training and scheduling that predicts how many people are needed. The service itself was not the problem, it's the lack of service. We had just finished convention, 8 dudes starving, they told us it would be a 30 minute wait and we could wait at the bar for a table. Fine. Order drinks ( My Caesar was supposed to have candied bacon, they ran out and put CELERY) We all order apps and this is where things get ridiculous, some got theirs in a quick amount of time, others ( like me ) had to wait over an hour just for bar food like nachos and poutine. Others got their main dishes before I'd even received anything. I tried the ribs from a friend and they were not that great, another friend said his steak was dry. Finally got my nachos, and they are stone cold, they brought another plate, tastes good and the portion is quite big for a good price, but it all goes back to the service. It was obvious that they were short staffed, there were 2 employees and 1 manager on a Saturday night (in our half of the place). The bartender was clearing tables, the other waitress was running back and forth. The bartender was obviously aware of how horrible it was and jokingly took his manager by the shoulder and said all complaints should be addressed to him. I was expecting some kind of free drink or an apology from the Manager, but none came, I never had time to order a main meal. BTW, the place was emptying and they had many tables available, but they just kept us as the bar. I can understand if half the staff called in sick (it was a beautiful weekend in late September) and they had to work extra hard to cover absences. But if that's not the case and they like to cut corners by under-staffing, then it's a disgrace and an embarrassment. The prices are Keg Worthy, so no reason to pay $30 a plate and get treated like this. read more
