This business should actually be called OptiCON....its an absolute joke...wish I could do minus stars on this place. Canceled in May and still getting a monthly bill with late charges. This has to be harassment! So many calls emails and mail we've done to try and get a response and no one has gotten back to us! I didn't ever have a problem getting a response when we were customers. Doors are locked and they are now open only 2 days a week. This has to be highly illegal to do to customers!!! So I have had NO internet with them since May 1st...a phone confirmation from an employee when I called to make sure service was canceled mid may, which they said "yes your account is canceled" and STILL getting bills!! Ludicrous! RUN AWAY from this "business!!"And if you try and cancel make sure you contact a lawyer and keep all your emails and records with them. read more

If it was possible to give 0 stars - that'd be more fitting. I had service with them for several years and closed our account when we moved in 2023. I returned their equipment as required to the front office where the lady took it and set in on the desk behind her - said we were all done with closing the account. Like others, I received bills for months, contacting them each time. They were billing me for the equipment, they say I never returned. After four or five months, I finally spoke with someone about the bill who informed me that the person that was responsible for documenting the returns wasn't doing her job and was no longer with the company. He informed me that he would take care of it. Didn't hear a thing after, no bills, no calls. Nothing. Assumed it was resolved until now. They turned my account over to collections and it now shows up on my credit. They won't answer the phone, won't return calls, won't respond to e-mails. Terrible business. Terrible customer service. If you drive to their office the doors will be locked. At all times. You will never be able to cancel their service. We have been trying to cancel our service since December of 2023. We have filled out and returned the cancelation form five times, and nothing happens. They continue to bill us each month. I am extremely unhappy. Zero customer service. They don't answer the phone. The door is locked when you try to go down to their office in person. The one time we were able to speak to someone, he assured us he would get the account canceled, but it has been a month, and they just billed us again. UPDATE: THEY FINALLY CORRECTED BY WIRELESS. THANKS! The customer service and follow up is horrible, and the service is not even close to as good as it should be for fiber optic. I have service disruptions regularly and they throttle speed WAY down during the times when you need it most. During install, I was very detailed about where I needed my router and they decided to put it in my basement of a 3 story home (and disregarded my request). Any competent tech know this would cause issues. When I called the tech he told me to "Give it a try and we will come back out and make it work if you need us to" Now they want me to pay to fix the issue!!! read more

Sure they have fast internet, but it's a hassle to get techs out, their mobile browser interface has issues with taking payments and they don't care to help, but would rather charge a reconnection fee. If you choose to do business with this company (they have a 2.2 star review on google and a 1 star review on yelp so not sure why you would) make sure you do everything by e mail. Communication within the office does not exist and every time there is a communication between customer and the store that does not benefit the store the conversation never happened. If you need to ask for anyone that will help you contact David Guthmiller who is the only person while I had service that provided great customer service. I will also probably receive a snarky response from the company as other reviews have which shows how much this company truly cares! read more

Had to give at least 1 star. TERRIBLE Customer Service. I signed a drop permit for fiber optic, and it tool 3.5 YEARS to get service. Then they held me to a 1 year contract for service, after we waited 3.5 years for instal. We ended up moving after 4 years and had to pay off a 6 month contract we couldn't use. WORST Customer Service EVER!!! Almost took them to court over their sketchy contract, just out of principle. Their managers claimed to "try and help" and "wished there was a way to let us out of our contract" but ultimately hid behind our signature. I lost too much sleep over this deal and just had to warn anyone I could about this company. Fiber service was pretty good, but I would NEVER recommend this company because of their lack of integrity and sad excuse of customer service. read more

Best customer experience I've had in Montana! After ten years working in the tech industry and many years dealing with poor internet providers/service, I'm over the moon with MT Opticom. When I bought my house last fall, they promptly got me up and running. I've had ZERO issues with my high-speed fiber until it went out today (one year later). After submitting a ticket online, I got a call back within 30 minutes even though it's well after business hours on a weekend. When it wasn't an easy fix, two folks offered to troubleshoot on a conference call with me at 930PM on a Friday. No only were they able to fix it remotely, one of them had already stopped by their office for a spare battery in case I needed a new one installed to fix the issue. Plus, they were delightful to work with, patient, competent, and clearly had customer success at heart. So rare these days. My original support ticket let them know I run a virtual business from home and need internet for work, and they went above and beyond to make sure I had the WIFI back within an hour. I'm a customer for life now and will recommend them to everyone. THANK YOU! read more

COULD NOT BE WORSE! If I could give this company zero stars I would. They have a contract with our HOA - Baxter Meadows, so no incentive to provide any kind of customer support service, because we don't have the option to use another internet provider. The internet service is terrible. I have upgraded my service, only to continually be dropped from internet zoom calls and have overall poor/glacially slow internet service. It's 2020, I am just in shock with how terrible the service at Montana Opticom is. The sole support representative Wayne is incredibly rude and unhelpful on the phone. It's almost comical how terrible this company is. If you are considering buying or renting in Baxter Meadows, consider some place else due to the terrible internet service of which there is no other option. read more

R U N A W A Y!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is the worst run business I've ever dealt with. Not only have we had problems from day one of our service that they were incapable of fixing, they actually blamed us and told us that we weren't experiencing the problems that we had documented. Their customer service is absolutely atrocious...they are rude, completely unknowledgeable, have an extraordinarily high turnover rate which seems to result in a field staff that has no clue about their equipment, installation, setup, troubleshooting, etc. Try approaching their management and you'll get nothing but BS. In addition to blaming us (?!?) they lie...not just one person, but nearly everyone in the office, including sales, customer service and management lies. One year into our contract they still couldn't fix the same problems that we had at the start. We finally had to pay a third party IT company to come in and fix MT Opticom's equipment - it turned out to be incorrect settings in their equipment, not us. The State Public Service Commission sure knows them by the number of complaints they get on a regular basis...Run away!! read more

We are in a neighborhood that contracted with Opticom for 25 years of service through our HOA (seriously, how are these deals still legal in 2018?) and so far our experience has been with their customer service reps and also with the contracted workers sent to install the lines. In regard to the line installation - it seems that Opticom is concerned first with the 'ease' of install and second with a homeowner's property rights and more broadly, the HOA bylaws that clearly outline where a utility easement runs and where all lines must go. We have had the cops called numerous times on Opticom workers in our neighborhood due to trespass issues. The contractors for Opticom are sent to do a job, and that job is to get the line ran as quickly as possible, I get that, I do. BUT, letting yourself into people's gated yards, digging for utilities where there are no express permissions or utility easements outlined by the bylaws for a utility line to be placed there, and then generally being hostile about it is not the best way to showcase your company's commitment to customer satisfaction. So far we are wholly unimpressed with the management style of Opticom and the instructions they are passing onto their contractors. It seems this entire business has been crafted on the idea that 'it's better to ask forgiveness than seek permission' and as a homeowner having to defend her backyard from unwanted cable lines, I am not having it. Do your job Opticom. Install where you are legally required too. If it costs you money to do that - well, that's your problem - not mine. read more

One star is being generous. I closed my account in june. I am seeking a refund for an over payment on my part. Somehow i over paid and 95 dollars is owed to me since june 30th. Its the middle of september and i cant seem to get them to write the check. Customer service claims the check was approved july 19th. 2 months and a bunch of phone calls later still no refund. I am driving to the office today to demand payment. Terrible company. Update: went directly to Opticom's office spoke with Alexus who was less than professional basically refused to provide a managers name and phone number and continued to make excuses as to why they havent paid. Its not at all that they didpute the,amount. I have documented invoices stating a refund is due. I gave them a 7 day grace period. They claim " the person who signs checks" will be in on friday the 15th. I will update again. read more

Internet is fast but their service is terrible. When needing repairs twice for the same thing( both my fault) they wouldnt give me an estimate going in and the second bill was more than 3 times the first. When trying to figure out why the guy was very rude and gave me generic answers that didnt even apply and then continued to attack me about it. He never could give me a real answer about the repairs so if you ever have to have them come out and work on your line they will bill you according to their mood and not in any professional way. When the TV service freezes up or is gone completely the reps say it's the satellite. Seriously? They're supposed to be fiber optic! Apparently it's not fiber optic from their central office. What does a satellite have to do with it? It's not snowing or raining in space.The customer service reps cannot explain, answer or rectify any questions or problems you may have with their services. In addition good luck getting a credit when there is a problem since they chalk up everything to Mother Nature. They're supposed to be fiber optic yet their service goes out due to snow on their dishes....seriously?! The TV channels are over priced and nothing current as far as movies if you can afford to add on movies that is. Basic TV is a rip off. We switch our phone service (VOIP) to Ooma and we pay only $4. total for our monthly bill with every feature you can think of plus absolutely no telemarketing calls. Montana Opticom comes with basic phone features and charges extra for voicemail which no other company charges extra for. Their internet is ok but it's no Verizon FIOS! We switched our TV to Muvibox and OMG it's awesome!!!!! read more

Easily the most rude and arrogant customer service we have ever experienced. Upon multiple occasions we had a need to discuss installation, product description, billing, or technical issues and had the great misfortune of being forced to speak to 'Alexa' at MT Opticom. Her attitude was one of laziness, impatience and haughtiness as if she and Opticom were doing us a favor by providing service to its customers. Opticom's product is only average in quality with many hidden costs but far worse is their customer service; so much so that we would rather subscribe to any other service than ever work with Opticom. I had both fiber optic internet and cable tv service through Opticom for years and should have left long before I did, but had been (incorrectly) told by my condo complex that I wasn't allowed to use another service provider. Internet was frequently down (for brief periods nearly every single day, particularly late night, and for longer periods at least once a month), and I never got anywhere close to their promised speeds. TV service quality was even worse. Customer service reps were awful to deal with, argumentative, and often took days to get anyone out to fix issues. Techs would show up at different days and times than arranged and then I'd get a call telling me they came and left without looking at anything because I wasn't there to let them in- and never once was the issue with my service located in my home. 100% of the time it was a problem with their equipment outside. Twice, reps connecting others in my condo complex accidentally disconnected my service and took days to come back and hook it up again. They would not offer service credits for outages lasting multiple days, except on one occasion where my cable was out for around two weeks. If you're lucky enough not to have any service issues, maybe they're okay, but if you ever have a problem, they're going to be terrible to deal with. I've since changed to Spectrum. I get more consistent service, better speed, and customer service that is far more competent and actually fixes any problems timely. read more

No one ever answers the phone during business hours. When I finally get a live person they don't have answers. Presently, we have not had internet for 2 weeks. This company does not treat it's customers well. Alexis, the receptionist, is extremely rude and unprofessional. Her tone of voice is belittling when asked general questions about the services provided. It took over 3 months for them to come out and drop the fibers -- there was no communication on their part discussing the delay in dropping the cable fibers. I called multiple times to ask for a projected drop date and was unable to get one. I basically figured they had forgotten about us after a couple months and went ahead with a different internet service provider. I recently got a letter in the mail from Montana Opticom stating they are going to start billing us in 30 days because the drop had been completed (over 90 days after making the drop request). Because we signed a document in the beginning stating we want them to make the cable fiber drop, we are now having to pay them for a year of internet after having to wait for months with no communication or information from them. This company does not know how to do business and should be shut down. I'd advise to never consider Montana Opticom for internet and any other services they claim to provide. read more

Okay it took a little while to get the optical cabling to my house but cost was cheap considering what it could have been. We have optical all the way to the house then it becomes wired-cabling on the house. The fact we have optical all the way to the house means we can change our internal cabling if we want to. In the beginning, which was within the last three years the picture pixelated often but that's to be expected. That does not occur often enough in my house to even be a bother anymore. They just started, I counted on signal issues. The remotes wear-out fast but they give me a new one when they do, the box when it acts-up is simply unplug the power cord and plug it back in, wait a few minutes, and then no issues. That does not happen often at all. We have their slowest internet speed which is 17Mbps faster than someone else's fastest at 60 (our 77Mbps throughput is consistently higher than 74Mbps - outstanding). My girlfriend and I find their least expensive package is more than enough ... we have had their other package but couldn't justify keeping it for the 2 or even 3 channels we actually watched. Price is good considering. Telephone when we had it was excellent, no screeching or out of order packets during conversations. Just some closing statements, they provide the means to watch movies, HBO is HBO everywhere and HBO provides the movies so blaming them for the movies isn't fair. The DVR is smaller but if you know anything about DVRs there is heat. There are also people who fill the darn thing completely up and never watch their stored movies/series then it's arguing about what to delete to make room for something else that may not be watched. Everything utility or communication is regulated by the FCC. I haven't seen their contract of late so I cannot comment on that. Oh, I like installing my own router because then I have the choice, and I installed mine by taking a coffee break, reading the manual, and doing the manual labor. All of 13 minutes and 27 seconds... no, somebody else timed me. When there were 2 and a half feet of snow outside my satellite neighbors had no service but we did. Oh yeah, the issue of local-channels or having channels removed because the corporate headquarters couldn't reach an agreement about prices - never been an issue. It's as good as it gets out here, they have earned that Woohoo. read more

Extremely difficult to get any information from them. I live in Gallatin Gateway and they installed the primary cable well over a year ago. They called us and asked us if we would be interested in signing up for future service, to which we said of course. We then built a house along Gooch Hill and called Montana Opticom repeatedly to ask about when service might be available in our neighborhood. Always got a different answer. So now we're out here with no internet service at all, based on what Opticome said last year about providing service. I called them yesterday, October 31, and explained that we needed to make a decision about getting some kind of Internet service and could they PLEASE give me SOME IDEA of when they would be in a position to provide service. They refused to give me any idea, saying that it could literally be tomorrow or a year from tomorrow. I believe this company takes public money; I wonder if the general public would appreciate the lousy customer service they are getting for their tax dollars. read more
