We spent Halloween at the resort. There was a special event for Halloween, Reaper's Revenge Halloween Costume Party, and had such a blast! The music was great. The decorations were so real! There were photo activities. There was a $5,000 costume contest. You can buy non-alcoholic and alcoholic drinks at very reasonable prices. There was also pizza for sale. And the people attending the party were very chill. On a skiing note, we visited the resort and skied last winter. It was very nice, but a good hike to the lifts. Very affordable at $40 for lifts and rentals from Mondays to Wednesdays.

    Ride that is not working

The heritage fair was not good. Probably the slowest moving line I ever waited in to get in. Totally not worth it. Waited 20 mins in line for a ride and then they decided they needed a break when we got to the front. Revising from 2 to 1 star.

Me and my family came to Montage Mountain first time in president's long weekend and I have to say we had so much fun. We go skiing every year different resorts and I need to say it was the best experience I have had. Kids went to ski school and the instructor was great and very friendly. We saw firework and a parade. They had entertainment, great food and amazing drinks. We will definitely go back no on every year. Really recommend that mounted!

Food court offerings..but no free water.

This review will be hard for me to do, so bear with me. Our cabin is situated 10 minutes from Elk, so in my mind, for PA skiing, Elk is the gold standard, and it would be asinine for me to drive anywhere else, especially after driving upstate from Lancaster. However, as my beloved Elk has blackout dates where they do not honor the PA Ski Passport for 4th/5th graders (SHAME ON YOU), we looked to take our family elsewhere while staying over New Years, and Montage turned out to be an incredible value... as in, if we had done what we did at Montage, it would have cost an additional $230 to ski the day at Elk. And that, my friends, is nothing to sneeze at, and is worth the consideration of driving the 35 minutes from Elk to ski Montage more frequently. Talking points? Here we go! The Good: 1. Parking: Actually close to the ticket window and lodge. No shuttles, no bridges. Unfortunately, 4 flights of stairs...but overall, nicely close. 2. Prices: We purchased our tickets online through Ski PA Association website for $38 for adults, $21 for one of our sons. Ticket was good from 9 AM-10 PM. That's some serious skiing at a great price...about $3.50 per hour! Son #2 was free, and son #3- first time skiing- $85 for rental, ticket, and a 2-hour lesson...Elk would have been $180. We added on another afternoon group lesson for $40. Not bad. 3. Ski School: Good facilities. Rentals for ski school kids are in the ski school building, which is nice. The beginner area has its own magic carpet conveyer belt, and has good security for checking kids in/out. Instructors were informative, funny, and patient. Unfortunately, 7 kids in a beginners group was a bit much, but no avoiding that one. 4. Lodge: Nice layout. 48 picnic tables in the dining area, bathrooms near entrances for those of us in ski boots, plenty of food offerings, and a nice-looking bar/restaurant with a commanding view of the mountain. A cool wrap-around deck with multiple fire-pits allow you to enjoy the view without completely freezing. 5. Trails: A wide variety of trails kept our sons entertained today. Boys liked the terrain park, older son tried the diamonds, and I enjoyed watching him completely humbled by the double-diamond run with moguls. Gotta keep those pre-teens in a state of humility every so often! The Bad: 1. Snow. Mother nature hasn't been kind to PA skiing, and Montage is behind the curve this year. Lots of unopened trails meant that all the skiers were condensed and the snow-cats were trying to level out two more trails during the day. 2. Bathrooms: That faux-whitish wood vinyl flooring doesn't do well with wet ski on the three longer beginner/intermediate trails. Our day at Elk two days prior revealed the same percentage open, but square foot-for-foot of made snow, Elk is bigger and has produced much more snow. The cannons were firing, however, boots. Poor choice of flooring. My ego can accept falling on an unavoidable sheet of ice lurking below a massive jump...but on a bathroom floor? No way. The UGLY: 1. WATER. There is no place to access drinking water in this establishment. Nothing, unless you want to stick your head under a faucet in the bathroom. We brought in our own lunches, and when I went into the food court to get a few glasses of water, none of the fountain sodas had the "water" tab, and when I asked the cashier, she wanted to sell me four paper cups at $.50 apiece...yes, to fill in the bathrooms. "PSSSHHHHHH", says I, and storm off. My wife, tired of hearing the kids moan for water, goes and buys two Aquafinas and a Brisk tea for $8. PSSHH. Thievery. Unheard of. What is this, Guantanamo? Give the people water, say I. Set my people free! The Verdict: Tough call. For nearly $230 less, I have to think long and hard, though the decision might be clearer and more logical than I want to admit. If my wallet can convince my loyalty- and it usually does- then Montage will be seen more frequently. With good snow and everything open, this would be a hard bargain to beat. However, one more visit with poor snow may cause the battle re-ignite..and there certainly won't be any free water provided to put it out! 3 Solid stars...on a return visit with better conditions, that will be bumped to a 4. PS. These pictures of the water park in summer sure look intriguing!

The rooms were…read morefairly clean but had to move a dresser to plug in a charger and found all kinds of trash and stuff behind it. Only had plates, knives, bowls and cups for 5 despite reservations for 10 for several months. The big money grab and shock though is the pricing of food in the water park. Basic meals including fries and a small cup for a non-refillable drink are at least $15. A small one-day refillable cup (free on day of purchase is over $15, and over $10 on subsequent days, which if you have a way to share the drinks with your family, okay. But, the real kicker... $6 for a small bottle of water. Mind you, you are not allowed to bring in off-grounds food or drink, so you can only bring in food from the resort or buy inside the water park. They have what looks like it would be great breakfast buffet if it weren't $27 for adults and $22 for children (more than twice the cost for children than Shady Maple with less than half the buffet). Cost-wise, this is NOT a family-friendly destination. Your best bet is to bring food to the hotel, get a room with at least the stovetop and small fridge and plan your days so you can go back to your room for meals. Otherwise, the waterpark is expansive enough to keep your kids busy most of the day and the arcade is full of redemption games (although again, not cheap).

Though the wave pool was a lot of fun and at a comfortable temperature. We enjoyed the different slides/rides that were open including the Venus fly trap. I spent a lot of time in the indoor/outdoor jacuzzi. I like that it opened up outdoor to enjoy the jacuzzi outside as well. My favorite part was the swim up bar. It was sit, drink and relax while the kids tired themselves out.

From the moment we arrived, we were captivated by the vibrant atmosphere that felt both family-friendly and tailored to adults. The water park was a huge hit with our two girls, offering a wide array of slides that catered to all ages. Whether it was the thrilling rides or the relaxing wave pool, there was always something to keep the whole family entertained. One standout feature of our trip was the food. In previous resort experiences, we've often found ourselves disappointed by the dining options, but Kalahari shattered those expectations! The variety and quality of meals were truly exceptional. From quick snacks and Starbucks coffee, to gourmet meals at one of their multiple restaurants, every bite was delicious. It was refreshing to find such a diverse menu that pleased my wife, the kids, and me. We also appreciated the thoughtful layout of the resort. It was easy to find comfortable places to relax, and while it did take some hunting , we did manage to find a table each day. The array of jacuzzis was another bonus, with both family-friendly and 21-and-over options. Overall, our stay at Kalahari Resort Poconos was filled with fun and memorable moments. If you're looking for a place that offers a perfect blend of excitement and comfort, this is the spot!

I'm still here at Kalahari Pocono Pines…read more Day-1 We arrived Monday morning at 10 AM. Check-in was fairly easy because there was virtually no one else here yet. When I passed the check-in 2-hours later... The line was very long and the same person was working. They definitely need more people there. I went to use the ladies room after checking in and it was extremely dirty. The cleaning cart was there with no attendant. Went to the indoor waterpark which opens at 10 AM because it's raining outside. The outside was closed. It's the usual indoor waterpark nothing special. The Jacuzzi. Where can I begin? It is an indoor outdoor Jacuzzi. Meaning, you can go straight from the inside through a passageway into the outside. On the inside section.... Only 3-lame-jets were working. PACKED With kids. Outdoor section NONE of the jets were on. I asked the "lifeguard" why the Jets were not on. He said do you want them on? I asked him if he knew the difference between a Jacuzzi and a pool of hot water. He said he would turn them on ... he never did. I cannot emphasize enough, how many children were in there. From a few months old to pre-teens. Horsing around.... I scooped this one girl up that was about to drown 4-years old. She was allegedly being watched by her 12-year-old sister. Her mother was so grateful. Why is the mother not watching her own 4-year-old? I am appalled by this Jacuzzi experience. Hey Kalahari.. Do you think you can have something just for adults? Do the kids not have enough activities to enjoy? No? Do you know how "unhealthy" A Jacuzzi is for children? They have these rules for the kids in the Jacuzzi. Nobody is adhering to those rules, not even the lifeguards. What lifeguard? Jacuzzis are for adults!!!!!!!! We had the buffet for breakfast. We arrived at 11 AM. They close at 12 noon. It was $30 for adults. And $20 for kids under 12. By the time we got there It was slim Pickens. You should not charge me the same amount as everybody else who got more variety before me. Was not impressed with the buffet at all. On the upside. The staff here is very friendly and helpful. Except of course, for the lifeguard who doesn't know the difference between a Jacuzzi and a tub full of hot water. And most importantly, is not adhering to the rules setforth for children in the Jacuzzi. I saved a kid from drowning today.... He should be fired. We will be checking out tomorrow at the prescribed 11 AM. I will add to this review at that time.

I rarely leave negative reviews, but our experience at Camelback Resort over Memorial Day weekend…read morewas disappointing enough that I feel compelled to share it. My family and I checked in on Friday and were scheduled to stay through Monday. We arrived in time for the advertised 4:00 PM check-in, only to find the resort completely overwhelmed. After waiting approximately an hour and a half, our room was not ready until nearly 6:00 PM. On Saturday, we spent the day at the indoor waterpark and rented Cabana 1. The highlight of our trip was our waiter, Andre, who provided exceptional service and was friendly, attentive, and professional throughout the day. Unfortunately, the rest of the weekend took a turn for the worse. Later that afternoon, my daughter began feeling unwell and developed a fever. I went to the resort gift shop looking for children's Tylenol or ibuprofen, only to discover they carried neither. For a family-focused resort catering primarily to children, I found it surprising and concerning that basic over-the-counter children's fever medication was not available for purchase. When I asked for assistance, I was handed a first-aid packet containing aspirin, which is not something I would ever give to a child. Because my daughter's fever continued to rise, we made the difficult decision to cut our vacation short and return home that evening. Before leaving, we arranged for bell services to assist with our luggage from Room 529. I personally packed all of our belongings and helped Evan, our bell boy, load everything onto the luggage cart. Once home, while unpacking after tending to my daughter, I realized a mesh bag containing several items was missing, including my husband's Burberry swim trunks, my daughter's RuffleButts swimsuit, and her water shoes. The following day, I contacted the front desk, Lost & Found, and asked to speak to Evan at the bell services department. My information was taken, and I was told someone would call me back. No one ever did. I followed up again several days later and received the same response. No manager was available, no Evan, no answers were provided, and none of our belongings were ever recovered. While losing personal items is frustrating enough, what was most disappointing was the complete lack of follow-up, accountability, or customer service. Not one person contacted me as promised. Not one manager reached out to address the situation. Between the delayed check-in, lack of basic children's medication availability, and the disappearance of our belongings followed by zero communication from management, this was not the family vacation experience we expected. I can overlook mistakes. I cannot overlook poor customer service and a complete failure to address a guest's concerns. Sadly, after this experience, I would not return to Camelback Resort.

Their waterpark is only open from 11 AM to 7 PM when basically every other waterpark that I've ever been to is open at least 12 hours a day. When the waterpark is closed, there is nothing else available in this place. Food is almost impossible to come by and if you do, you will wait an incredibly long time. The waterpark is small and crowded. Almost all the restaurants are closed until five if they open at all. Our room which was over $400 a night was not what I expected in the bathroom looked like something that you would see in a prison with the drain in the middle of the floor of the bathroom no designated shower or bath area it's just a shower curtain which had molded all over the bottom of it, over a tile floor. Our garbage had someone else else's tissues in it and our shampoo, conditioner, and body wash were all empty. This made me wonder what we waited till 5 o'clock for because checkout is at 11 and check-in is at four. That's five hours for their staff to clean the rooms. I think that that is enough time if you were properly staffed which they are far from. It was the worst resort waterpark I've ever seen or been to. The manager, sabrina is elusive. I asked for her when Daniel was at the front desk when we were trying to figure out when our room was going to be ready and he couldn't find her and then the next morning I called down and got Sabrina on the phone, but she put me on hold for forcing me to go downstairs and then wait for her yet again. This place is so poorly managed. The only good thing I can say is that the employees were nice. And I think that that says a lot because they're constantly hearing how horrible this place is and they all know it. This was also the most expensive waterpark we've ever been to. Please save your money. This place is an absolute rip off, and you will be sadly disappointed.
