The desk staff at the front office were insanely rude!! We walked in and she instantly had an attitude and was very unhelpful.

The staff are... something else. They seem less like recreation employees and more like a highly organized squad of mall cops. They patrol the grounds in packs, seemingly on a mission to find someone to reprimand. The overall atmosphere was incredibly unfriendly and unwelcoming, which is a strange vibe for a place that is supposed to be a family-oriented lake club. At one point, the staff waited at the shore for a man who was swimming outside of the designated swimming area and tried to apprehend him so they could call the POLICE. We understand that swimming areas exist for safety reasons, but the apparent eagerness to escalate a relatively minor rule violation to law enforcement was honestly baffling. Like you guys know you work for a lake club in the Poconos and not the FBI right? I would bet a lot of money that the local police department rolls their eyes when they see this place calling them again and again. Rules are rules, and we have no issue following them. But there's a pretty big difference between enforcing rules and making your guests feel like they're constantly being watched for an opportunity to get in trouble. Would absolutely recommend the lake. Would not recommend whatever law-enforcement internship program they have running at the beach.

This is a great municipal pool! Spacious and doesn't feel too crowded even on busy days & holiday…read moreweekends when you can hardly find parking (though the parking lot is quite large). There are a few picnic tables and grills on the lawn. No pool lounge chairs or towel service so bring your own chairs, picnic blankets, food/snacks and other accoutrements to enjoy a leisurely summer day. Facilities are clean and well-maintained. Very kids/toddler-friendly. The sizeable shallow end has several sprinklers/splash fountains for children to play in, and there are slides on both the kiddie and adult sides. Also a playground in the back (not affiliated with the pool). There are always many life guards on duty every time I've gone. The pool is accessible only to Clarkstown residents and their guests, so if you're not a resident befriend someone who is. You must obtain a Clarkstown resident ID card first at the registration office at 31 Zukor Road in New City. (The pool won't simply accept a driver's license.) Rates can be either daily or seasonal for individuals or family, and are very reasonable compared to similar community pools.

It's no exaggeration that these monsters from the deep probably kept a legion of child psychiatrists in full time employment. On a recent visit it was nice to see that the previous snake-ridden den of iniquity has long been been replaced with a legitimate pool and that the mythological beasts of years past have been slayed by chlorine and actual cement walls. You can even see right to the bottom. What a concept. This is what Nanuet Lake should have been like all along... no thanks whatsoever to my parents who thought this was some tough love version of Shangri La, albeit minus the all consuming bliss one often finds in paradise. I kid about my parents (almost) and am happy to bestow five easy stars for a childhood reclaimed. I still hate snakes.

The place has 2 beautiful lakes with 4 swimming pools. It is completely safe to live here, and the community does a great job keeping it that way. A Pocono Country Place is like any other CITY. (It is a community with over 4,000+ homes) The APCP team is doing there best to make it better. It is not as bad as people make it out to be. The ones that are complaining either are not in good standing, or just reading old reviews that have no merit. Other just complain and have no say because they do not show up at the meeting to share their opinions. In the 13+ years we owned a house in A Pocono Country Place we have not had any problems. We love living here, and plan to stay to enjoy our future retirement.

We were never told when given a pool pass that the one pool where there was a Clubhouse, Basketball and tennis courts, was closed as there was no water in the pool. we For a Gated Community with many specific rules, surprisingly there were very many badly run down homes. I would not expect that with a Home Owners Association.
