I was scheduled for LASIK surgery this morning at 10:20 AM. When we arrived, the office was disorganized. There was no receptionist, and multiple patients had already been waiting for hours. Despite the chaos, we decided to wait, as my consultation experience had been positive and I was hopeful about the surgery.
As time passed, we spoke with other patients. One individual told us this before today they had four same-day cancellations for surgery and had been waiting for over 2 hours before we got to the office. Another shared they had received the wrong cataract procedure after requesting a more affordable option, only to be charged an unexpected $7,000 after already making what they thought to be the full payment. A third patient wasn't even supposed to be in the office but had no way of knowing due to the lack of staff. These conversations were alarming. I looked up online reviews and found a concerning number of similar complaints.
After more than three hours of waiting--with my full-term pregnant wife and our two toddlers in tow--I finally found someone in a back office. He never introduced himself. I had to initiate the conversation because no staff had appeared at the front desk for over two hours. While he apologized for the delays, the discussion felt more like stalling than problem-solving. Eventually, he left the room for 30 minutes, returned with candy, and then disappeared again.
I expressed to him clearly that my concern wasn't about discounts or pricing. I wanted to know if Monson Vision was willing to show, not just say, that it values its patients' time. After what I experienced today, I don't believe that's the case. I didn't know how else that Monson Vision could show that, other than through a discount.
This wasn't the first disruption. A month ago, my original surgery was canceled the night before. That meant another missed day of work. We rescheduled for today just days before my wife's due date because I was still hopeful and it was Monson Vision's next available appointment. But after spending hours in your office again, without basic communication or regard for patients, I had to walk away. I can't trust a clinic that doesn't value my time or my family's. I have a job I need to be at, and a pregnant wife and kids to take care of. I lost 2 days of PTO that I won't be able to spend with my wife when our baby is born. read more
