They told me that I was the first person in the…read morehistory of their practice that could not input all of their medical data, prescriptions, surgeries, history, family history, etc with 100% accuracy on the tablet. I have been to many medical facilities in the past three years and it is the first time I was asked to be the medical records clerk for myself. I use a smart phone and a laptop, but not a tablet. My husband tried to help but we could not get the correct info input. Everywhere else, someone took my info and they input it into the system that they know well and were trained on. I am to get an injection in my neck. When I expressed my apprehension to get the procedure when my medical information was incomplete, I was told to "Take it or leave it". "The info does not matter anyway." Gives them an out if there is a problem, right? It was my responsibility to get all relevant information into their system, not them. I am all for progress but when it comes to medical issues, their data collection needs to be user friendly. They have to know that patient inputted data has to be at high risk of being inaccurate. Apparently they do not care about accuracy. How does that impact care at this facility?

Then I went to PT and Greg got me straightened around and doing all kinds of things, biking 100+ miles a week and doing incremental drills and exercises. Step by step week by week things are getting better. Greg is patient but not afraid to have me try the next drill and will either recommend I go for it or hold off another week. And while I still can't run, I know exactly which hurdles I still have to get over and am excited to get back to full health!

I went in because of a broken foot. Dr. Drew was nice to work with, and they x-rayed my foot and…read moredetermined it was broken. The problem came when they provided me with a boot to wear. It was oversized and loose on my foot. In order to help me, it had to be snug without being painful. They also asked me my height, 5 feet 9 inches. They gave me crutches, which at their smallest setting, were for someone 6 feet tall. They told me both were what I needed, so I accepted them, trusting them. Later, I was contacted by Living Tree Medical, and they told me I had to pay for the boot and crutches because insurance wouldn't cover them. I paid them $73.00 over the phone. The next day, I went to Alpine Orthepedics, where they told me to go, and they gave me another boot. This one fit and provided me with the structure to hold my foot in place while it healed. I contacted Living Tree, even went back into the office, but they would not take their oversized boot back. I had worn it, loosely, for all of one day, but they said they wouldn't take it back, regardless of the fact it was the wrong boot to give me in the first place. The doctors at Alpine thought it was ridiculous to have given me that boot. In the end, I paid Alpine for the correct boot, essentially paying twice for a boot that would work properly. Now the kicker. I received a bill recently for $73.00. I called today about the bill. They (Livingtree) told me it was for the boot and crutches. I told them I had already paid for the boot and crutches. They had called and had me pay over the phone. She told me that I had indeed paid them that day over the phone, but that the money had been applied to a bill I owed them earlier. I was told specifically that the payment I made was for the boot and crutches. Now they want me to pay again!! Essentially, a third time. Sorry, but this won't do!!

But almost everyone else who I have worked with/talked to is so hard for me (Many of the nurses and PAC's). They don't take time to read the charts or they don't understand certain things so I have to retell my story everytime and it is so annoying and makes appointments a lot harder. I have a history of recurrent pregnancy loss and Dr. Kirkman has been amazing to work with. The office is HORRIBLE at returning phone calls HORRIBLE. They never call me back with lab results, I always have to call them and am usually on hold for 10+ minutes. I think they have called me back 2/10 times when they said they would and it was always at least a few days or weeks later than they said I should expect the call. The only reason we stay here is because of Dr. Kirkman. After our third miscarriage, Mickensi Paget said "like 90% of miscarriages are genetic and are just chromosomal abnormalities so if I were you guys I wouldn't even worry! Who knows, maybe next time you'll have twins." And then she said "and next pregnancy we'll have you take progesterone and baby aspirin." I told her I was taking it during that pregnancy and she said ... "oh you were? Dang. That helps almost everyone we see." That is not the time or place to say any of those things and I know a lot of miscarriages are due to chromosomal abnormalities, but it isn't 90% of them, especially not with recurrent loss. There was no reason for her to say those things and my husband and I both felt they were very insensitive comments. I hope she can realize the effect of her words and next time stick with "I'm sorry you're going through this" or anything else then what she said.

Unfortunately, my IUD came out because of a very heavy period and using a menstrual cup, but WholeLife scheduled me for a replacement appointment right away at no extra cost. She responded with the following message that suggests this MA does not have patience and she needs to fix her attitude (see attached screenshot). Also, it is very hard to reach this clinic. Sometimes I call several times throughout the day and it goes straight to voicemail (very frustrating). There is no menu where you can select the option to speak to appointment desk, MA, medical records, billing, etc. The problem is the receptionists handle all the incoming calls and they definitely need a phone menu to direct calls properly. If you need to speak to the MA about a medical issue, you have to speak to reception first to transfer and you can't always get a hold of someone in reception. UPDATE: I received a certified letter from the clinic (Dr Emily Rhodes) stating that I am fired as a patient (see attached letter). As a lgbtq patient, I am disheartened to be treated this way. This is retaliatory for speaking up and providing feedback for an obviously inappropriate response from a medical assistant. The certified letter inaccurately accused me of being disrespectful, while it is the medical assistant herself who is acting unprofessional. This clinic is overly aggressive and has dealt with my complaint by firing me. It is a shame for this clinic to be called lgbtq affirming and I encourage any patient especially LGBTQ and BIPOC to avoid this clinic like the plague.
