kitchen ,bathroom & laundry room cabinets installed by Monschein in our new construction home. 3 months after closing, my husband & I are still looking at 50 tabs painter's tape all over the fronts indicated need for repair. Misalignment of many doors & drawers causing bumping & rubbing noises. Stain of the espresso didn't cover the entire face of the doors so there is a faint pale line bordering every one. Builder has us on a waiting list to get repairs so we contacted Monschein ourselves. Gustavo( head of customer service) came to our house 2 months ago, agreed that cabinets were poorly done & would send a tech out very soon. A tech came out with a really bad attitude & no action plan whatsoever. read more

Although I didn't use their service for cabinets, a piece of one (or something the size of a floor tile) fell off the work van and hit my car on the freeway. This incident happened 1/20/2021 I have YET to receive a call from any insurance company NOR will they provide me with their insurance company name. The first contact was very nice an empathetic to the situation and transferred me to the HR department. She took my information and said she would call me that afternoon. She never called! I called back the next day and spoke to a gentleman named Alvaro Zamora in HR who asked me to email him pictures of the company van and damages to my car, which I did. He then called back and stated the lady I spoke to before sent the information the insurance company and it was out of their hands. Now they just ignore my emails requesting information! This incident shook me pretty bad as we were top speed in the express lane and what ever it was the came out of or off the van hit pretty hard dead center the front of my hood and flew over the top of my car! I have the pictures to show it, after it him my car the driver made a hurried lane change and made the next exit. I just wish this company had an ounce of integrity!! I wouldn't recommend driving behind the company vehicles, especially the van number 111!!!! UPDATE: Not long after posting, I got a response from Mr. Zamora stating he would contact the insurance company again but still did not provide their insurance information... Monschein Cabinets - two cars on a highway - General Contractors Near Me - Riverbank, California

At the end of the day I'm giving them two stars. My cabinet still aren't as good as I would like, I did find their customer service to be responsive and they did try to make things better but it was screwed from the install, day 1. The installers skimped on rail screws resulting in a drawer front falling off. They sent somebody the next day to fix it, I requested all the drawers be checked to make sure that the rails were appropriately attached. That message didn't get through to the worker although with a few calls it was done. About half the rails were installed without adequate screws. I still don't think they're the best choice for Eurostyle or significant custom work, but for regular out of the box cabinets I think they would be ok, but then you would save money going to Home Depot or ikea. ----- My cabinets look good, although they aren't perfect, I'm done fighting. The installation was fraught with errors and mistakes. They didn't use spacers, had to redo the fronts but only took the horizontals, then made a separate trip for the verticals, taking weeks each time. They messed up the island piece before it even got here, requiring more wait. There are pieces of trim in my garage I paid for but were never touched. The final repair guy told me they typically don't do custom and especially my style of eurostyle cabinet. They are more tract home kind of builders. I wish my architect/project manager had not referred me to them. If you have a no brainier project or a tract home they are fine. For anything custom hire somebody else. So after I wrote the above they came out one last time after I met with one of the managers for an hour and a half. Things we discussed, like a touch up kit, didn't come. I did get a pen and wax stick that the guy had in his truck. They fixed three things but ultimately said that it was impossible to line up the cabinets so that they were even. $14,000 for cabinets that don't sit flush and never will. If I spent $14,000 on a car and the doors didn't close correctly I'd be just as disappointed. I still can't recommend them for custom work or Eurostyle cabinets. For run-of-the-mill stuff they may be fine, but I just can't recommend them for anything higher end. read more

You think you are getting wood and switch to particle board. Some of the cabinetry is nice others not so good so you need to be sure you pay attention to each piece. If you are purchasing a new home, and they are contracted for the cabinets, be sure you ask what you are getting as they often say one material and provide another. Also because they use non-wood materials they use a "chemical" finish that they say is "proprietary". It may look good but you will need to go to a paint store to get something similar as dings happen. Almost better to get my cabinets and islands repainted.. read more

AMAZING JOB! Monschein Industries built and installed custom cabinets for my home renovation and I couldn't be happier. They provided new kitchen cabinets, bathroom vanities, and 2 built-ins in my dressing area and family room. We made a few changes along the way - which was not an issue - they worked with me to get it right. They were delivered and installed on time and fit perfectly - appliances slid right into their locations. They also supplied my countertops and they are beautiful. read more

FANTASTIC! I needed to replace a broken cabinet hinge and after buying several that did not fit, Monschein came the the rescue! I walked in the office, Robin was so welcoming and Kelly ensured I had the correct hinges. The hinges were covered under warranty which made my trip to Riverbank worth it. Wish we would have read reviews and went with a different cabinet maker. Remodeled our kitchen and our contractor ordered cabinets from Monschein. The installers broke numerous items in our garage, and dented the side of our new refrigerator. Uppers are not installed straight and have obvious gaps. Hole for water line was not cut properly, now shelf cannot be installed, making an entire cabinet useless. Cabinets have scratches everywhere and the wax/paint used to patch it is not the right color causing the cabinets to look dirty. Screws were too long, puncturing holes in the bottom shelf. There are extra screw holes and split wood from improperly placed screws. One screw sticks an inch into the cabinet, and sliced my husband's hand. Incredibly disappointing. read more

We recently bought a new house in Sacramento and this was the company the builder chose to use for all the cabinets. They must have gotten a great deal because the quality of the cabinets were terrible. Several drawers were measured wrong and fall out when opened too far, there are scratches all over cabinets, the crown molding isn't even with the top drawers, etc. We had someone come out to fix the problems and measure for a new drawer, this drawer hasn't been delivered yet, it's been over a month since they came out. We also ordered one additional set of cabinets for the upstairs (only so they would match - otherwise I would have used a different company). These cabinets were missing a piece when we got them and I have yet to get someone to resolve this issue for me. When we went to pick the upstairs pieces up (over an hour drive), I was told the builder accidently kept one piece in his truck even though they had confirmed with me on the phone everything was ready . I would highly suggest avoiding doing business with Monschein Industries. read more

I could not be happier with these cabinets, or the awesome company who made them FROM SCRATCH. Monschein Cabinets is a phenomenal operation. Unbelievably talented cabinet makers, these fun loving, wonderful people conduct a veritable symphony of cabinetry, each leg of the artistic assembly line a gorgeous instrument in itself. I had the pleasure of watching the entire process from start to finish - watching the graphic designers turn a sketch into a blueprint and draw it out on a wooden board, to be whittled down and sanded to the perfect mold, to which they would measure the granite countertops to fit precisely. Then on to the wood department accompanied by the glorious sounds and smells of a wood shop. Here, you see the wood cut, sanded, stained, and then baked in an oven on both sides- the whole process gets exponentially more exciting as you walk on. It's no wonder their massive workshop takes up almost an entire city block, and provides more jobs than a small town- it truly is a magnificent sight to behold. And the really cool things are that 1) you can tell everyone working there REALLY cares about their job and the artistry of the product they're making and; 2) everyone gives the most glowing reviews about the owner, Karen. To have such a large staff -and keep them all HAPPY- is a feat in itself, but to be able to pair that with the unbelievable finished product that comes from all these layers of nuanced artistry and talent, is truly a spectacle to behold. Knowing the hundreds and thousands of customers who make memories with the homes Monschein Cabinets help build, I am confident that the couple of whiney customers who have taken to the internet to hem and haw about minute details, represent the absolute minority. In fact, I'd venture to say those are the only people who have complaints about monschein, and if we look closely, it's actually more about the installers than the cabinets. If you are a contractor or an architect or developer, you should go ahead and put monschein in your contacts favorite list. You'll want to use them for every project you do. read more

This review is long overdue. We did an extensive remodel and used Monschein to build the cabinets in our house. The cabinets turned out beautiful and have held up perfectly for the last 3 years since the remodel. They were able to fully customize our cabinets to add depth to the upper cabinets as well as lower, build our island taller and were even able to build our bar cabinets to fit existing leaded glass that we wanted to keep from our prior kitchen. Their designers were patient and their delivery people on time. read more

I am SO frustrated with this company. They have terrible customer service, they are always 2 hours late to every appointment, and they never call ahead of time. My cabinets were installed in February and are a creamy off white. Two months after the install they are starting to turn yellow tons of areas. It took them over a week to send someone out to look at them (and of course they were late to the appointment) I am still waiting on a resolution. I would never reccommend this company to anyone, huge disapointment and constant frustration. read more

Sloppy workmanship & horrible customer service! We purchased two additional cabinets for our kitchen to match the ones put in by our builder. They were great until we have them money. They missed the window to install so I wasted two hours of my work time and they refused to install without someone there. So I told them they could come back during my lunch hour the next day, which they did (20 minutes late). They installed the cabinets so one of them doesn't open correctly, left a huge mess (including screws and bits) in my kitchen and sawdust all over my front porch. They had also taken one door to match the color - which they did perfectly - but didn't return the door. When I called the ask, I never got a call back, but they were kind enough to return it on my front porch. Yah, because I know how to install cabinets/cabinet doors. So now they not only have to come back to fix the door, but install the missing door. And they expect me to take more time off of work. When I said they did all this and left a huge mess I get an "oh, I'm sorry." Well sorry doesn't clean up the mess, honey! read more

I had the same bad experience as the other two reviewers. My contractor had the vanities for my two remodeled bathrooms build by Monschein, and it's been nothing but trouble. We went through several iterations of drawings, including discussions of how to fit drawers on the side of the sinks, and yet one of the vanities was built with a wall down the middle so you couldn't fit a sink in. In addition, one drawer didn't fit at all and had to be taken back to the company; the remaining drawers and doors are all mis-aligned, do not close properly, and bump into each other when you open them. It has now been over a month since the vanities were installed, and my contractor has not been able to get them to fix any of this; it appears that they simply do not respond to phone calls or emails. I would not recommend Monschein for any purpose. read more

Needed to repair a drawer rail in my kitchen and they were able to come out within two days and fix it. They actually replaced the other side too. Roy and Mick were very nice and fixed the job within minutes. Highly recommend. Oh and I love my cabinets!!! Thank you. read more

we purchased a house from a builder in 2014 when doing the final walk through our Real Estate agent pointed out to us that all of the cabinet doors had a small area around the trim that was not stained, our contractor and Monchein came out and said that was called blow back and it happens. They agreed to replace all of the door fronts but told us we were not able to get the door style that we wanted. Within a year the doors finish started cracking and peeling off, I wrote a letter to Monshein and they sent someone out and agreed to replace some of the doors. The cabinets started to peel and crack again before they were two years old. After sending a letter to Monschein about the problems they again sent someone out to look at them and I received a letter stating "After examing the sample chipped door under magnification it can be seen that moisture had intruded the wood and weakened the clear top coat finish in certain areas. The cause of this may be attributed to direct exposure to chemicals as dish soap,certain shampoos, cleaning agents such as Mister Clean or Simple green in conjuction with high heat moisture as with a dishwasher or shower." They also provided a warranty for these cabinets that we maybe should have gotten when we purchased the house. So I guess these cabinets should not be installed next to a dishwasher or a stove? Don't kitchen usually have cabinets next to those appliances, wouldn't it make sense for the manufacturer to sell cabinets that can withstand the heat and steam from a diswasher? It would have also been nice for the builder to provide this information to us about the cabinets that came in the house before we actually owned it. Monschein also stated in a letter I received on 8/10/17 that they would provide me with two items to cover the peeled off areas of the cabinets. It is now 9/11/17 and I have not received them. read more

I am recently divorced and moved into a manufactured home that had RV like cabinets and formica counters. It was pretty awful. I had it completely ripped out and Monschein Industries from the re-design to the blueprint to the selection to install were there for me every step of the way. The cabinets are phenomonal ...the granite and backsplashes are perfection....from plans to delivery to installation everyone was so professional. We needed a kitchen cabinet door reproduced. We brought in a duplicate of the door (to match wood grain and stain) and gave them the exact measurements. Instead of using the measurements we gave them, they did their own measurements, which turned out to be wrong. It took them about a week longer than the timeline they originally promised, and the door was 6" too short. Instead of fixing their mistake, they insisted that we pay again for them to do it right. read more

Worst customer service and product. We built a new house and didn't have a choice with the cabinets, except for the color. Within a year the cabinets were chipping and I requested paint so I could touch the cabinets up myself. Was told the color wouldn't match??? Then, because I don't learn, we decided to extend the cabinets into a wet bar in the family room. Overpriced and not really what we wanted but because the area was small we had to match them. Supposed to be here "first thing" on a Tuesday to install but guess what? Won't be until 3pm. Won't recommend or use them again. read more

We bought our house as a foreclosure in 2008. The house was only a year old. Every single cabinet and drawer in the kitchen and laundry room and both bathrooms have peeled. They look absolutely horrible. A lot of the cabinets drawers hardware broke. We live right down the street from them and they told us that if we came back within a year they would have fixed them. I would never recommend them to anyone. We are going to have to eventually replace or paint all the cabinets. So they only lasted a few years if that. read more

After many months of going back and forth I got a different handle, and it was the wrong size. Then a few more months passed by and finally they agreed (or maybe the builder asked them to) replace all the door panels with the knobs which I asked for to begin with. After trying to find a specialty item, and having no luck, I voiced my frustration to an employee at Home Depot. The gentleman worked in the kitchen cabinet department and his suggestion was to try a custom cabinet shop. Well, long story short, the president of Monschein Industries had overheard my lament, and SHE got on her cell phone and had her staff fabricate the item. It would be ready the next day. . . . AND IT WAS FREE!! The president insisted. So when you have a bad experience with an EMPLOYEE, remember the boss isn't always standing right behind you. Because if they were, then I'm sure your outcome would be a positive one, like mine. After all THEIR name is on the line. read more
