This place is an absolute scam that preys on customers' wallets and time. I had a 9 AM appointment for a simple oil change and inspection that somehow turned into a three-hour ordeal. Halfway through, they called claiming I "needed" $800 in new rear brakes, even though I've never had a single issue with them. When I said I wanted a second opinion, they suddenly "found" a piece of glass in my tire so bad it supposedly required a full replacement -- funny, since I've never had any tire issues before this visit. The same thing happened the last time I came here, when they admitted they ran over a nail and convinced me to buy a new set under their warranty. An hour later, I get another call -- they're "waiting on a part to redo my brakes." The same brakes I specifically told them not to touch. When I told the guy again not to replace them, he got rude and said if I refused the brake work, he'd fail my inspection. When I finally picked up my car, the bill was $301.67. They charged me for a failed inspection, a "tire repair" (how do you repair a tire you supposedly replaced?), the tire itself, tire service, and a random "fluids top-off" charge. The kicker? My wiper fluid was completely empty when I left. So now I have: - A failed inspection for brakes that are perfectly fine - A "new" tire I didn't want or need - No wiper fluid despite being charged for it - And a massive waste of my morning This shop is nothing but dishonest crooks trying to pressure and intimidate customers into unnecessary repairs. I feel scammed! I went in for a basic inspection. I was told I need new brakes and rotors front and back and also calipers. The quote was $1700. And my car was unsafe and could not pass inspection. I was a little taken back because my car is on the newer side and nothing seemed wrong etc. The same day, I take it to the Honda dealership and everything they said was wrong was not! The only thing I needed was an air filter. The brakes and rotors were fine and I even called back to have them double check it from what I heard from Monro , and they double checked and they were all safe and not needed repairs at this time. read more

Dropped off my car for a scheduled inspection appointment at 11:00am. I informed them that I'd be waiting with the vehicle when making the appointment. Was told to come back in 1.5-2 hours. Sat in the McDonalds across the street until 1pm and returned to Monro at 1:10pm to find out they hadn't even started my inspection. What is the point of making an appointment. Don't waste your time with this location. They are either overbooked and poorly managed. read more

Regardless of the fact of having an appointment, you still wait hours before they even get your car in and then when it is in it still sits there for an hour or two inside! All the people that work here look like they're homeless and do not have any teeth. They are constantly on break and sitting on the picnic table behind the building, smoking garden as well instead of doing their jobs. I've always heard of Monro being good for the 'quick stuff' like NYS Inspections - which is what I was going for. I originally made an appointment online but most shops have to confirm it so I get that the time/date I originally chose was changed. The message they left me stated they could get me in next day which was a Friday. I call back and they say they only have two techs Saturday so they can't do it until the following Tuesday at 5. Which whatever that's fine. Well I show up Tuesday, one guy on the phone, and another guy on the computer just staring at the screen and goes "he'll be with you in a minute" which ok that's fine but could at least ask why I'm here and take my key's especially for an appointment but whatever. After the schlump next to the guy on the phone made us wait that long - the guy on the phone put his call on hold. I tell him I'm here for an appt for 5 for an inspection. He proceeds to tell me their machine is down and they can't do inspections. Which again I'm a sensible person and I get it but they could of had the professional decency to call all their inspection appointments to let them know. ??? Like I drove all the way for you to tell me you actually couldn't fulfill my appointment when this could of been a phone call ?? Yeah no, one star for you, none if I could. And maybe have all your employees actually put in some effort to work so guys don't have to put their calls on hold to have what a 6 yr old could do and ask what we are here for. But if you've made it this far I highly suggest Midas in Clifton Park next to Pizza Hut - super quick and friendly. read more

I would highly recommend that you avoid this repair shop. I was a long time customer when Jim was the manager and the new management is clueless and are actively trying to rip off their customers. I went in for an oil change, and then when I went to pick up the car, Brett the manager told me that I needed a new control arm. He quoted me a price of $700 which seemed high, but he said that included the price of the alignment. I authorized the repair of one control alarm for $700, but when I went to pick up the car, the bill was $1600. They had replaced both control arms, even though I didn't authorize it. I complained in person, and got no response. I've called the shop four days in a row and they have not returned my phone calls. I contracted the Monro Corporate office three times and they don't respond either. They are simply trying to wear me down by not responding. I had to resort to putting a hold on my credit card since Monro won't respond to me. They are clearly a rip off shop, and I would highly recommend that you stay away. I don't know how the managers can sleep at night. They clearly put profit ahead of everything else. I will never go there again! My family and I have been loyal customers to this center since they opened, but now they've lost my business. I called to schedule an oil change early last week and was told to bring it in "any time" on Saturday. We scheduled the appointment for 10am and on the day of the appointment I decided to drop my vehicle off and run an errand while it was being worked on. Drove by an hour later and my vehicle hadn't moved from where I parked it. Called at 1:30 pm and was told it was "going into the bay" now and that I would get a call soon. At 5PM I finally decided to go there after not hearing from anyone and picked up my vehicle. 7 HOURS LATER AND NO PHONE CALL. When I picked up the car, I was told they "got busy" and received no apology. This is such horrible service. If you have an appointment that was scheduled days in advance, don't you think it makes sense to make that vehicle a priority? Went in today to speak with the manager and again, no apology. Unacceptable. Horrible management, horrible customer service. All you had to do was apologize for the inconvenience. That's it. Customer service 101. You lost a loyal customer. This place is horrible, and it's probably because of the people that how mange it and works there. I've been to many Monro auto that are not as bad. Issues: 1) the place is a mess, their schedule is all over the place. I drop my car one day and they forget about it. I call them towards the end of the day, apparently they having not looked at it. Great! 2) very unprofessional , they brook the oil seal on my car's tank ( you would think that it's the main thing that they do and should know better). of course, they did not tell me, I found out when I took it to another place. 3) The staff have an attitude. First time writing a negative review as I really don't like to, but feeling the frustration after having made an appointment for 1pm for an oil change and an inspection. Upon arrival I was assured it would take less than an hour, but when I am back just after 2pm, my car had not left the spot where I had parked it. It took until around 2:20 for service to start and at 2:45 I was informed that my car would not pass inspection, unless I got new brakes, which would take another 45 minutes or so. My complaints are not about having to get new brakes or how long it took for the actual service, but rather the fact that my car was there for two hours for an oil change. While I have appointments, if you are not going to abide by them. I understand that things happen and service can run longer than expected, but why not communicate that upon arrival, so that customers can make a decision accordingly. read more

I dropped my 2016 truck off for an oil change and inspection. The truck has 16,000 miles on it. I get a call later that all 4 tires are "dry rotted" and need to be replaced. It's my lucky day, there's a special buy three tires get one free. It'll only be $700+. I said absolutely not, only do the oil change. The next day I took my truck to a dealer I know can be trusted and asked that he pay particular attention to the tires. He showed me what to look for and indicated my tires "weren't even close to needing to be replaced." I paid for my inspection and went on my way. I've done business with Munro in Malta for decades and have been very happy with their service. This event has convinced me without a doubt that this is no longer the case. They attempted to turn a $70 oil change into $700. I'm afraid too many customers will bite the bullet and pay a ton of money for an unnecessary repair. Be very careful and get a second opinion if it seems out of line, it may well be. read more

This shop is highly recommended by me for their service, courtesy, and professionalism. My wife and I were on a weekend trip our my 1995 Mazda Miata and blew a hose near Saratoga last Saturday May 18th. Not having much choices we were towed to Monro Muffler in Malta by our AAA tow truck driver who said they might be open (it was 4:30PM). Now the problem being that it was almost 5:00 on a weekend and the next day no one would most likely be open to get the hose required. As it turned out it was a heater hose and the shop had some in stock and had me back on the road in 30 minutes. Jim and his team were incredible and saved the day for us. Many thanks!!! This place has the WORST service. I broke down on I-87 and had to have the car towed to the nearest place - this one. They had my car for a week with ZERO phone calls to me about its repair status. I called 3 days after we dropped it off, they hadn't even looked at it. Called 3 days after that and finally they said, "Oh, we're pulling it in right now!". (What a coincidence.) The part was installed the next day (for $500) and they called us to pick it up (THEY called US - this is important). The NEXT MORNING on my way to work, the car broke down again. I had it towed back in and again, it has been a week since I dropped it off. No contact whatsoever about the status. This morning, I call and they say, "Your car has been done for 3 days." Why didn't you contact me? "We didn't have a number to contact you with." Really? So the number you contacted us with last time just got lost somewhere? My fiancee was there with me when I gave them the number the SECOND time. It's even in the computer system - confirmed with the front desk. Meanwhile, we commute in different directions every day. It has not been easy for my fiancee to drive me to and from work and then hold her own appointments. The fact that they finished the car 3 days prior and didn't bother to call is just unacceptable. We even had to fight with them to get our AAA discount on the second part (which is costing us an additional $400 - after paying $500 for a part THAT DIDN'T NEED TO BE REPLACED). This is not how you run a business. We are appalled and offended by our service here. We HIGHLY recommend you DO NOT take your vehicle here for service. If the car malfunctions again (after 2 weeks without the use of it and almost $1000) we will be seeking legal counsel. ***UPDATE*** Car stalled AGAIN. Same *exact* behavior. Took vehicle to another shop who diagnosed the issue right away. They confirmed that the $900 spent at Monro was a complete waste. I will be contacting my bank as well as the family law office. I tried to call Munro at the number that the representative provided in reply to my review and they were "unavailable" according to a prerecorded message that played in English and Spanish. So don't trust Munro at the corporate level, either. ***UPDATE 2*** Left voicemail for Brittany. She called me back, gathered info and 'passed the info along'. I got a call from the local Munro rep. HE LITERALLY LAUGHED AT ME when I told him that I had to sell the car and buy a new one rather than fix the issue. HE LITERALLY LAUGHED AT ME when I told him I was no longer in possession of the car. Going on hour three of getting my tires rotated. Literally swapping the left tires with the right ones. I've done this by myself in under an hour with the jack and lug wrench in the trunk. Give me a lift and an impact wrench and I'm pretty sure I could do it in 20 minutes. Stay away from this incompetent bunch! read more

When I left following an oil change and had warning lights on my hybrid dash, I returned to see if something might have gone wrong during my oil change (now know it hadn't). These guys listened and sent two people out to check my car immediately. They reassured me, and took the time to point out a missing cover on the fuse compartment under the hood-- the real issue. Surprised by some of the poor reviews. For the longest time I NEVER used non-dealer service shops because I didn't trust them and didn't want to be sold a bill of goods. I tried this shop as a matter of convenience and continue to go there for LOF, tire rotation and inspections. They've never tried to upsell me and they get the work done in a timely manner. And for whatever it's worth, they are typically all pretty friendly guys. read more

Had an alignment done ... Get back in my car and the steering wheel is still cocked to the right go back in and out explain to the guy it's obviously not right he told me rotate your front tires that'll fix it ... Goto the one in Clifton park within an hour and they wouldn't fix it either. They wouldn't even put in on the rack in when there was one car there on a lift. I drove back to Malta frustrated and the guy tells me it's my front end that I just replaced the day before... inner outer tie rods, ball joints, and struts. So all in all I wasted 80 dollars went somewhere else and it was completely fixed no hassle just costed me about 100 at the other place. Spend the extra money some where else read more

IF I could give the Malta Monro Store a zero - I would. Without doubt, this is the absolute worst service I ever experienced. I had an APPPOINTMENT this past Saturday to simply put snows on my car. My appointment was 8 am tho I dropped the car and tires off at 7:35 am. The shop just opened and when I walked in, I was met by someone with an attitude. I told him I had a 8am appt and that I was dropping off the keys. His response: Yeah, whatever. OK, maybe he had a bad night. No worries. I went home. No calls from anyone. I called at 3 pm. Whomever answered said the car wasn't ready. I called back at 4. Nope, not yet. Again at 5. Just bringing it in now. The store closes at 6 on Saturdays. I called at 5:40 to let them know I was on my way. MALTA MONRO said, Not gonna happen today. I said what's not gonna happen today. His response, your car. Mind you, no apologies. Nothing other than maybe we get to it tomorrow first thing and you can pick it up tomorrow night. WHAT!!! I said no way. I'm on my way to pick it up with my snow tires. He said "You better hurry. We are closing". I got to the shop at 5:55 pm - 5 mins before closing - and the store was completely dark and locked up. They guy had my keys to my car. I looked for my snows in my car and they weren't there. I said hey wait. I swear he was going to pull away in his vehicle. But, he did unlock the store and retrieved my tires. Again, not an apology. Very untruthful about actual degree of maintenance on vehicle needed, ESPECIALLY WITH WOMEN. Several times I have come in for tire repairs and have been surprised at pick up that there was no charge (no I didn't purchase the tires here). Do not bring your car here for something simple like an oil change or inspection. First of all, it will take them ALL day, even if you make an appointment and they will tell you you need new brake pads, new rotors, or both. I've taken 3 cars here for oil changes and one needed new rotors, one needed new brake pads and one needed both. I find it hard to believe all 3 cars had the same issues at a price tag of $400-$900. I fell for it the first time and then I caught on... I said no, just the oil change. I will never bring my cars here again. I have gone to them for 13 years and they used to always be honest and fair but over the past year their honesty and customer service have been terrible. There is a rather new person at the front desk (he's been there maybe 10 months or so) I will be nice and not name him, but he is the most unfriendly and rude person I have ever dealt with there. I stopped by one day 45 minutes before they closed and asked them to look at something quick and he said I can't help you we are closing. Come back tomorrow. I will however say that Jim is great and has always treated me with respect and gone above and beyond. Unfortunately, I can't deal with the rude newer person and won't go back. Excellent customer service!! I highly recommend this location! I stopped by on my only day off during the week, and the shop looked very busy. I needed 2 new tires, an inspection, oil change, and an alignment. Steve at the front desk was very friendly and told me he could fit me in no problem. I was thrilled considering the shop was so busy. I told him I could leave my car there and he could call me when it was done. To my surprise he called within two hours and I had my vehicle back. As I was paying for my service, a couple of the guys from the shop came out and I told them how impressed I was with the excellent service!! One of the guys smiled at me and said..that's we do here..we aim to please our customers every day, and that's exactly what they did starting with Steve. What a terrific experience, they have made a lifetime customer...thanks again to everyone at the shop for making my experience so wonderful!! read more
