I first tried it when I was Iraq and a Turkish couple setup a small shop on the military base I was stationed at in Mosul. We were greeted by the owner Zerifa as we came in and she was very friendly. I ordered a Turkish "double" coffee and two baklavas. My wife ordered a late with chocolate ontop. The coffee was so good! I like coffee without anything in it to mask bad flavor or burnt beans. Theirs was perfect in every regard. The latte was also very nice. Zerifa told us the Baklava was homemade and she had a good reason to be proud of it, as we scarfed it down. Sitting under the umbrella out front it was nice enough we stayed and let the kids run around a bit. My wife ended up getting a second cup of coffee. We will definitely be back. It's exciting to have a unique spin on a coffee shop that isn't some chain in Nicholasville.

If you visit when the butterflies are in season, make sure to take a stroll to the butterfly house on the side of the building - it's a small, peaceful getaway. Sometimes they even have moths in a cage inside the store, which is always interesting to see. After about five minutes, I was confused about no sound of espresso grinding or pulling shots or milk steaming. I watched the two baristas' actions and none of it made sense, mostly considering that neither was doing anything with drinks. One of them microwaved some things and the other filled a syrup bottle. Eventually, one barista had lined up a lot of 16-ounce cups. Seems like the business has online orders coming through at an overwhelming rate. I hope y'all figure this out. At 11:00 AM, 25+ minutes into my wait, there was a lineup of customers. The dude at the front of the line went unacknowledged for several minutes. That's when I gave up being patient and asked the nearest barista when I'd have my drinks. She kindly told me "five minutes," and when I said "I've been waiting 25 minutes," she calmly and politely replied that she'd make my drinks right away. Bless up. At 11:06 AM, after 30+ minutes, I had my goods and was out the door. Our kid loved the macarons! And the barista who interacted with me was sweet. However, the wait was outrageous and my "flat white" is a 12-ounce latte. The Cinnamon Toast Crunch latte is delicious. To the owners/management--please support your staff and operations better! Also, either figure out what a flat white is and serve it properly or take it off of your menu.
