This was a nice stop on our Cheese Curd Crawl. The service was friendly, and the whole restaurant had a pleasant vibe. There were even funny quotes spaced out along the walls. We ordered the cheese curds (as necessary) along with the pretzel braid. Both were good and hit the spot nicely. read more

Nice atmosphere! Had the classic cheeseburger with Chios and a Moscow mule. Delish! Moscow mule was made perfectly and the burger was very tasty! Great service! read more

So our food was actually pretty good and our server Dawn was excellent, but we found a long hair in our sandwich. Which happens but what I've never had happen before is the manager come out and basically tell us we were wrong and it was a piece of Swiss cheese. She never even seen the hair. So when we showed them the hair, they apologized and stressed that they would only comp SOME of the sandwich. I wasn't even looking to get any of the meal for free. We actually didn't even want the sandwich after that. But to have someone come out and tell us we were probably wrong and then to over stress that they weren't covering the WHOLE thing, just SOME of it was so completely bizarre. I guess the days of the customer always being right are long gone. I haven't been to Monks in a long time and it will be a while before we go back. Our server was absolutely fantastic though. Big thumbs up to Dawn read more

the food was very good i would recommend the southern chicken sandwich, it was a nice place to watch sports and very clean. One thing I would complain about it the prices that were not mentioned. I had to pay EXTRA for a side of fries with my chicken sandwich AND burger... Normally they are free side, i've never been to a place where they charge extra for fries and especially NOT TELL YOU. She made it seem like it was an ordinary side, normally they mention up charge sides but nope. And she also didn't mention the ranch that she OFFERED was extra money too... Love the food, don't love the fact my tip money went to ranch and fries... read more

I always have great service and food here! Love their specialty drink, Twisted Monkey, pickle spears, and Mahi Mahi rice bowl.

I was looking forward to trying a burger here as they are touted as high quality burgers. Ordered a Black & Bleu burger and Jalapeno Bacon Burger. The burgers are a bit pricey, with kettle chips for the included side, and an upcharge for other sides. My SO paid the upcharge for "beer battered fries." These seemed to be just pretty regular fries and very bland (you can see them in the photo). They were like the cheap fries you should get for free with a burger. The Jalapeno Bacon Burger was supposed to have grilled jalapenos...they seemed like they were raw, were pretty crunchy. Pictured is the Black & Bleu burger. The kettle chips were very dark brown, hard, and tasted burned. They were obviously overcooked. I asked the server if the chips were supposed to be this way. She said yes, they are supposed to be hard and crunchy because they are kettle chips. However, the picture of their chips on their website were light colored (as are any other kettle chips I've had) so I still maintain these were overcooked. The bacon on the burger was pretty floppy and chewy. The burger was supposed to be "drizzled" with blue cheese dressing, but I'd call it soaked....way too much. The quality of the burger meat itself was nothing special. Final analysis - We won't be returning. Quality for the high price is not there. read more

Had a quick dinner hear one night. Sat at the bar and the service was great. The bartender was prompt with my drink and got my order of cheese curds in right away. Food came out fast and again the bartender checked in on me. Love that you can order a half order of cheese curds here too! read more

Was looking for a Cuban sandwich and Monk's popped up. It was good but we thought the bread was a little dry. I almost asked for Mayo. Nice and crusty/grilled but personally I'm not fond of the cornmeal type of crumbs on the bread. Note the flavor was great!! We also ordered the Sweet Chile cauliflower. Those were to die for! Best I've ever had. read more

The food was good. But the wait staff was terrible even for not being busy. Felt like we were trying to be rushed out as soon as possible. Was gonna get a dessert there but the waitress had already brought our check without even asking if we were ready for it. read more

I got the cod street tacos and the fish was a bit dry, tasted burnt too. Didn't finish them. They also did not have a lot of sauce on it which didn't help the dryness from the fish. I wish the coslaw would be in a sauce and not just a little on top. Kind of disappointed read more

The food was okay. We ordered the deluxe nachos and they were underwhelming in flavor and toppings. I ordered the Brisket Burger and the brisket was dry accompanied with old tasting tomato's. The service was fine but only showed up to take our order and provide the bill. read more

The two people I asked about this place before I went both had similar responses: "yes, I've been there, I don't remember if it was good or not". Wow, does that statement really sell it. The service is prompt but the wait staff wants to make small talk while I'm trying to eat. The food was just ok and unremarkable. The restaurant is clean although the first plastic cup I was given had a crack in it and it was leaking- not sanitary, how could the restaurant be certain they had cleaned the crack before putting my beverage in it? Anyway, the portions are typical for the type of food but kind of pricey for small town fare. Idk, 4 stars feels like too much but 3 stars feels like too little... 3.5 stars? read more

Second time here. Both times The staff has been extremely attentive and interactive. We have chosen to sit at the main big bar both times to sit back and observe and see what is going on. It is nice to see the bar staff leave from behind the bar and help pre bus and bus the tables. Our first adventure here we ordered the California chicken and the Carnivore tots. The chicken sandwich was moist and tender and very flavorful. He Carnivore tots were good but would gave been excellent if the demi-glace would gave been on more than just the very bottom of the bowl. Inconsistent with the sauce was a misstep. With the sauce makes the meal! Tonight we had Garlic parmesan bone in wings and the boom boom shrimp. The wings were cooked perfectly and very tasty. We would order these again. The boom boom shrimp were good as well and would order again. The Monks 47 amber lager is very good. Wish we could buy locally but alas a great excuse to come back here! The Purple Monkey is an interesting wicked drink to try. A few of these and let the monkey business begin! read more

Since my SO and I are fully vaccinated we decided to go out for an early dinner tonight and we happened to be in this side of town. It had been many years since either of us had been here. We were happy to see that COVID precautions were in place and there weren't many diners. We were promptly seated and our waiter was great. The fried pickle appetizer and spicy ranch was yummy. My SO and I both had burgers and chippers-- I ordered the jalapeño bacon burger and he had the bacon blue burger. The waiter asked if we wanted dips with our chippers-- we both said yes, but we didn't realize there was a charge for them. My burger was really yummy. My SO also liked his burger but didn't realize the blue cheese was going to be a sauce. Overall, we were very happy with our food and service!! read more

Prices are WAY UP and Portion sizes are WAY DOWN. It's just not worth coming here. Paid $16 for max and cheese with chicken and got less then a quarter cup of pasta hahahaha. What a joke. The chicken was only the crispy shell too not actual chicken to be seen. Outrageous will not be back. Also had a wrap with fries. We literally counted 10 burn fries. That's it. Haha read more

Definitely one of my favorite places in Eau Claire! They have a pretty big menu with a lot of options. I've tried a few different things, and I think my favorite is the southwest chicken sandwich. They also have a homemade French onion dip that's awesome with their chippers. Honestly, I've never been disappointed with my food here. Their salads are tasty, their burgers are great, and I love their cauliflower app. They also don't skimp on portions! I also really like that they have different rotating craft beers and some unique mixed drinks (their monk-jitos are super yummy!) read more

I just love Monks!!! The service is always great and the burgers are even better!! Can't forget about the cheese curds, always have to start out with them. Definitely one of my favorite restaurants in Eau Claire! Last time I tried the Cobb salad and it was fantastic! The kids meals come on frisbees and my son just loves that. Nothing outstanding on the menu. All the dishes seem to be designed to be made quick and cheap, with minimal preparation. Personally I prefer dishes that have at least some kind of thought and care put into them. There are much better options in eau Claire than this if you are looking for better quality food. 2 stars only because it wasn't horrible. read more

It was just okay, a few buddies and I stopped for beer and food on the way home from fishing. The beer was good and they did have a decent variety to choose from. The place is set up like a sports bar, but tries to elevate the experience to somewhere that it just doesn't live up to. The food was okay, but nothing to write home about, though it was fairly expensive for what your getting. I had the fish tacos and the fish was cooked well but on a tacobell shell... took the wind out of my sales. Service was great at first but took forever to get the checks back to us correctly. Definitely not horrible but it didn't do much to offer anything different than other places. read more

Good food and great service, can't say enough about the bartender and the food but the overall atmosphere is extremely loud. After an hour you have to leave it's so loud that you have a head ache. They definitely need to put something in to deaden the sound. read more

A bit disappointed tonight. I understand we used Eat Street so didn't expect hot food. Great food and awesome bartenders!!!! I had the cheese curds and the Jalapeno burger. It was delicious! I don't recommend this place though to adults who do t like children. I have kids. I'm not an ass, but my kids behave. This place allowed a couple at a booth in the bar area to continuously yell and make a scene. Unacceptable. Move them to the family area. If I wanted to hear yelling, I'd go home.e. It's not cute. It's not cuz he looks two years old. It's rude. Stay your ass at home if you can't control your kids. read more

Friendly service, willing to change us to a booth. Food came out hot and quick. Felt meals were generous for the price. My husband had the Greek salad. Came with fries or chips. Next time I'd get the homemade chips. read more

Having lived in South Florida for 18 years, I've been sadly disappointed the by the Wisconsin version of a Cuban Sandwich. Monk's nails it!
