I ordered sushi to go and when it came it's way different the portions when it's dine in and take out, cheap but still disappointed about the sushi

Tyrone J.

I've only ever ordered takeout but the food is always well packaged and quick. The portions are pretty good and they always have bogo deals on ubereats.

Spicy tuna roll, spicy salmon roll, 3x tuna and salmon sashimi

Got takeout here on a Saturday night and was super impressed! We weren't expecting much when looking through the menu and seeing the prices (which are super cheap), but we were so pleasantly surprised! Its definitely not award-winning sushi, but the sashimi slices were thiccc and the makis were fully stuffed 2-biters! Now I know these extra thick slices aren't most people's cups of tea, but I dig it--the more the merrier! Best $ value for sushi I've ever seen, and came with soup and salad! Definitely my new go to spot for that sushi craving whenever I'm in the area!

Tuna and Salmon sushi

I have ordered takeout from Monkey Sushi Rosedale a handful of times and the food has been consistently good. I discovered them on Skip the Dishes for their $10 lunch specials. You can choose 2 items from a set list of rolls, nigiri sushi and/or sashimi, and it comes with miso soup and salad. I have also added a few items to my orders such as agedashi tofu, edamame, and shrimp tempura. They are very quick, food is very good and the prices are very reasonable. I know it's kind of a minor thing, but I think their miso soup is really delicious. Some places don't seem to care about the soup and it's often "meh", but I look forward to this one. Will definitely order again.

Poorly rolled cucumber roll, too much imitation crab

Wow I am so disappointed at the food I ordered from Monkey Sushi specifically this location. I can't recall which location I ordered from the first time but loved it so much the first time and thought it was a good value for the price and amount you get. I ordered sashimi set, cucumber roll sushi and a few other rolls. The sashimi cuts were paper thin for all of them except for the salmon pieces. They were really disappointing. The cucumber sushi roll was soggy, loosely wrapped and mostly imitation crab and the salmon that was in it was barely noticeable. The spicy salmon or tuna I got was okay. I will definitely never order from this location again as it was not worth paying the fees and delivery from ubereats. I will try out the other locations that higher ratings next time.

I come here for the deals and convenience. Definitely ayce quality and quantity. The price can't be beat and there's always promos/deals. I got the short ribs galbi combo. The short ribs were really delicious. The tempura and actual sushi is ok. I felt bloated and greasy after eating the sushi- lots of rice. The fish is actually decently fresh. I made 3 meals out of this order. I will be back. I mean you can't go wrong with the deals and you get what you pay for.

[TAKE-OUT & DELIVERY] Discovered this place about a year ago. Since then, I have ordered from Monkey Sushi many times during the lockdown. They are an AYCE restaurant chain in the first place, so don't go in with incredibly high expectations. However, it's good if you want some well-priced sushi and combos. My one complaint was that they seem to prioritize food app orders compared to phone in orders. I'd get my food within 30 minutes for UberEats or Fantuan delivery, but it took about 1 hour for pick-up (when I called directly). So these days, I use apps to pre-order for convenience. Will need to try their AYCE menu soon since dine-in is finally allowed in Ontario.

a plate of sushi and a bowl of soup

This is one of the best sushi places I have ever been to! The prices are not super cheap, but absolutely worth the high quality of whatever food you order here. I ordered some California rolls with my friend when I came here, as well as a beef teriyaki bento box. It was so delicious. The beef was very tender, juicy and flavourful. I thoroughly enjoyed every bite I had, and wish I could have kept eating it when I finished the meal. The service here is excellent. Friendly, courteous and efficient. The food also comes out quickly which is a good thing, especially if you are in a hurry. The ambiance inside is also very quiet, perfect for if you especially want a break from the hustle and bustle of Yorkville. I'll definitely be back here the next time I'm in the area. Monkey Sushi rocks!

P6- salmon lover party tray (wouldn't order again)
Cindy F.

We ordered the following from ubereats: -Oyako Don- 3/5 the chicken was very average -pork katsu don-4/5 it was good and reheated well -salmon lover party tray- 2/5 honestly it was just a mess. Wouldn't order again there are better places. Although the quantity was there, the quality wasn't. Felt like I was eating rubber and basically no flavour at all - Unagi (bbq eel)-5/5 this was my favourite. Would order again.

Nothing needs to be said for the staple plate of salmon sashimi

Whenever you can get AYCE sushi for under 30 on a weekend in downtown Toronto, it deserves five stars as long as the food is good. Unbelievable prices as long as you buy a drink, albeit we went during their special promotion - see if it's still available. Service was great, the servers were upbeat and eager to help. So rare to find an affordable AYCE sushi spot in Toronto - you trade quality and price but this one just balances amazingly for the casual eater!

Sushi

The first time I ordered from this place I had a pretty bad experience. Thought I'd give it a chance and this time it was actually really amazing. The ingredients were so fresh and the rice glutinous. The sushi was almost fluffy! It was so fulfilling and flavourful

It's my go-to spot to get my don fix - I love the wide variety of dons (rice bowls) that they offer with various fish and seafood combinations. There are also unique appetizers in the menu, such as Purple Yam Croquettes, Crab Crackers, Braised Bamboo Shoots with Shirasu (immature whitebait fish), and Takowasa (marinated raw octopus pieces, to be eaten with or wrapped in nori / seaweed). Although the dons are the main highlight of their menu (hence the restaurant name), they also offer traditional sushi, sashimi, sushi rolls and sets (similar to other Japanese sushi restaurants). Miso Aburi Scallops were very flavourful - nicely torched, giving the scallops a nice grill / char taste. They came with red and green seaweed, and a bit of fish roe. Large Premium Hana Don contained a good amount of fish and seafood, including a whole abalone, uni, shrimp in the shell, aburi salmon, ikura (salmon roe), salmon sashimi, tuna sashimi, yellowtail sashimi, other various fish sashimi, tamago (egg), and a few slices of cucumber on a generous bed of rice. I liked that the rice was a mix of white rice and some type of dark-coloured grains. Unatama Don came with a big piece of unagi and tamago (egg) that were both excellent. The sashimi were all fresh. Okonomiyaki was disappointing but it was sort of expected... for only $9, it was about 99% just flour pan-fried in a patty, without any substantial fillings (unlike real okonomiyaki, which usually contains protein / seafood, cabbage, eggs, and other ingredients). Location is super convenient near Bay & Dundas, ambiance is very casual, and service is quick.

The fishes were plated very pretty and because it's sushi of course it tasted good. But I was surprised at the level of wasabi that was plated. Cleared up my sinuses for 30 seconds. The establishment is very clean and bright and a great place to head to if you're in a rush.

The space itself leans more modern and clean rather than the typical dark, cozy izakaya vibe, which I actually didn't mind. It felt comfortable, not too loud, and easy to settle into for a slow dinner. We ordered a mix of small plates to share, and everything came out looking nicely put together. The aburi-style salmon sushi was one of the highlights for me.. lightly seared, with a soft texture and just enough flavor on top without being overwhelming. The tuna tataki was also fresh and clean, simple but well done. Some of the fried dishes leaned a bit richer with the creamy sauces, but they were still enjoyable, especially if you're in the mood for something a little more indulgent. The beef fried rice was straightforward but satisfying, one of those dishes that's easy to keep going back to between everything else. Drinks were a nice touch too.. refreshing, nicely presented, and added to the overall experience. Overall, this feels like a solid spot for a casual night out with friends. The menu is set up to where you pick the entree and then what type of protein you want out of pork loin, chicken, fish, cheese, and sweet potato cheese. I settled on the sweet chili katsu. A piece of chicken arrived on a plate accompanied with rice and shredded cabbage. The chicken was breaded in a light panko like crumb and was half covered in the sweet chili sauce. I ate a couple of pieces and the crisp texture and flavor was wonderful. I had a bite of rice and when I got to the cabbage to my dismay I found a long piece of hair in it. I immediately lost my appetite and all I could think about was how great the two bites of chicken was. I gave up the plate and showed the staff what I found. They offered another plate a couple of times and after I declined a refund was issued. Katsuya. sucks for serving me one of the best pieces of breaded chicken in my life with hair in the food. I'm struggling to hold back the tears now as I write. I did get to try the parmesan fries which were ok. I also tasted the udon which is not one of their stronger dishes. This probably would have been five stars had it not been for the hair. I know this happens on the rare occasion but probably shouldn't if hair nets are worn. If you do try out this place, expect great katsuya.
