I miss Monicals!!! I use to live in Rantoul, Il. and first had it there. Recently ate here. My daughter lives in Urbana Il. and I live in Hobart so it was a good half way point. I absolutely love their pizza! It's so good! The pizza sauce. The ingredients. Served hot. Along with a fresh salad. My favorite part though? The thin crispy pizza crust. Crusts like this is extremely hard to find. Especially one that doesn't fall apart in your hand. Don't pass up Monicals! They are up there with the growing number of really good pizza places. #24/2022 Wow where is all the time gone? Didn't realize it was so long ago since the last time I was here it was right as things were slowly opening up after covid. But this great franchised monical's not the corporate still doesn't have booze if you want it you got to get it to go and go get it from the gas station but nonetheless the quality has not changed. It was like deja vu I meandered over from the truck stop watch the freight train go by cuz I enjoy trains still. I walked in and I was greeted and seated promptly. I looked at my prior for when I was here a while back and got the same thing again diet Coke easy on the ice and a 8in individual pan sausage. It took a little longer for the pan of course which was fine it came out it was delicious I had no complaints at all just like I remembered it. starting to get crowded when I came in. Just a small little dining room not a big one here but once again that let down enjoy the food and keeping it right at four stars. read more

FREAKY FAST SERVICE!! The process on ordering your food from here is something that every restaurant should mimic. You come in, go to the counter, look over the menu and order your food. You pay for it, get a number stand and go to the dining room and have a seat wherever you want. You put the number stand on the edge of the table and wait. The family and I ordered a sweet tea, a coke, and a half sweet tea half lemonade. For our lunch we ordered a 12" half veggie half sausage pizza. That is all we needed. It filled us UP! The chef/ waitress was so generous, she gave us a to go cup of one of our drinks and she filled it up to the top. Fast service, great staff, great tasty pizza, and yes we picked up the iconic bottle of the salad dressing. read more

I stopped by late one night to get a bite. I was told some of the food to stay away from. I tried the wings and bread sticks and should have tool locals advice. Flavorless beyond what I would expect from a mom and pop restaurant. I saw another one two months later and wanted to stop but didn't want a repeat. Thank but no thanks. read more

Good pizza, fresh family-sized salad, efficient & friendly staff. That said, I struggled to eat due to a modest hangover and this place didn't serve beer in the a.m. or any other time for that matter. Fortunately, there was a chilled keg of beer in the bed of my friends' pickup truck, so I left the restaurant for liquid medicine and promptly returned to really enjoy the food. I'd prefer that this Monical's would offer ice cold beer so that crusty travelers wouldn't have to consume alcohol in the parking lot. =] read more

Best pizza in the whole world I swear! We grew up in Gilman and we moved to California over 15 years ago. We came back recently to visit and were only there 4 days. I ate monicals 4xs I know, I'm a little obsessed! Pizza in CA has never been as good as pizza in IL. I don't know why but they just cannot figure out how to do a thin crust out here and it taste right. Ooooohhh and those breadsticks and cheese are to die for! I swear you need to open one up in Sonoma County CA . One of the most visited spots because it's wine country! This is pizza goodness. I grew up on this wonderful pie. Since leaving the area many years ago this is the only real treat when I visit the area. I have spent my life trying to mimic this awesome thin crust piece of heaven. To the poster below who wanted a healthy option. You're an idiot. You don't go to a PIZZA place expecting health food and then top it off by ordering spaghetti. I bet you go to seafood place and complain about the chicken. Being in the greater Chicago area, I I miss this basic, well priced, crunchy little pizza - and their amazing sweet & tangy dressing (which they are kinda famous for). I love that their hamburger tastes like they just fried it up, and they offer minced garlic as a topping! Even better, they offer an 8 inch personal pizza, so you get exactly what you want. My wife and I got off the Interstate due to bad ice and rain and decided to get a room at the Motel 6 for the night. The owner recommended Monicals across the street. We weren't expecting much but we were more than pleasantly surprised! I got the Italian beef sandwich and a chef salad, while she got a chef salad and some pepperoni rolls. For $37 delivered to our room, it was delicious. The salads were huge and full of meat, with enormous containers of dressing. I'm not sure when the next time we will be in this part of the country, but we will definitely eat here again if given the chance. read more

We grew up on Moncial's Pizza so we know when you order a pizza it is going to be super thin crust and a tomato-y slightly spicy (oregano, basil) sauce that is addicting. I have been to Monical's in 6 different Illinois locations and loved every one of them. If you do not like thin crust pizza this will NOT be for you. The salad, albeit chopped iceberg, tomatoes, cheese and grated carrots is simple but is REALLY fresh and if you know anything about Monical's salad you get it simply for their famous Red French dressing. I have even seen people put it on their pizza. The thing I like best is about this location is they have a drive thru. Sounds crazy but when you are driving the length of Illinois to get back home and don't have time to stop you can get it to go without having to go in. My husband hates stopping when we're on the road and this fixes that issue along with my craving for Monical's! read more
