We were looking for a small, intimate, and beautiful space to host our micro-wedding celebration, and after reaching out to many places in downtown Savannah, The Room at Common stood out immediately. When we did our site visit, it was exactly what we had envisioned and more. The space is beautifully decorated inside a historic Savannah building and offers thoughtful features like a Frame TV for slides or welcome messages, private restrooms, a private bar, and the ability to play your own music (which is rare for a small venue and comes without extra charges). Leah was wonderful to work with throughout the entire process. She responded to our initial inquiry almost immediately, something that really stood out since many other venues took days or even weeks to reply. From the first email to the site visit and all the communication leading up to the event, she was incredibly helpful and reassuring. As someone who works in hospitality and tends to be a bit of a "controller," it meant a lot to feel confident that everything was in good hands. On the day of our celebration, everything was beyond what we imagined. The space looked beautiful, and we were greeted so warmly. Sammy, our server, was attentive and fun, and the bartender was fantastic as well. And the food... absolutely incredible. Every dish exceeded expectations. Our guests are still talking about it weeks later. The oysters were incredibly fresh, the steak was outstanding, and the fried cornbread, fish dip, and cheesecake were unforgettable. A huge thank you to the Executive Chef (who even came out to greet us) and the entire kitchen team. Every member of the team made us feel cared for and ensured we had everything we needed. They truly embody the meaning of Southern hospitality. Thank you all for making our day so special. My husband and I already say that if we ever renew our vows or host another celebration, we'll absolutely be coming back.

The Room at Common is top notch and believe me there is absolutely nothing common here. Let's give a moment of respect to the Executive Head Chef Shawn and his entire accompanying staff whose impeccable attention to detail in every dish that exited his kitchen demonstrated the depth and ability of everyone who had a hand in slicing, cutting, baking, and curating the most delectable dishes I have found in quite a while. You need an outlandish charcuterie board to get you in the mood to begin the eating festival. The sliders had the perfect texture and the bread was tenderly placed with a delicate sauce. The tomato basil soup in a bread bowl was like heaven. The fried green tomatoes were also a favorite. The short ribs with the smothered collard greens and the cornbread were on an another planet of goodness. You want fresh local oysters on the half shelf pulled from the water only hours ago, well they got you right in house with them lying on ice and a professional shucker right there to serve you with a beautiful smile. Did I mention the dessert bar? Freshly baked cookies, macaroons, mini red velvet cake shooters, lemon puff pastries, mini cheesecakes, and other treats that would leave the sweetest sweet tooth, toothless. The food was Southern, but wound up a notch. It was not boring. It was not common. If you're in Savannah for a work conference or need a place to meet to discuss business with your team, host a holiday party, or have a small wedding reception, do not skip The Room at Common. One thing I appreciate is how attentive the staff is to each guest. Everyone is so friendly and welcoming. You feel as if you're one of the family coming to visit. The cocktails are delicious. The wine selection is fantastic and carefully crafted with an experienced sommelier in house. I'm telling you that you will kick yourself if you don't have you people call Leah Ralph to book your event. The food and drinks will make your folks love you forever!

This particular day I was glad that I did. I went out there unsure of what I was going to see, but I did have a preconceived idea that it would be some big store on a farm. My idea was the furthest thing from the truth. To be quite honest, I thought my GPS was wrong, because all that we saw was some older run down buildings and a bunch of random cars parked nearby. Let me tell you how glad I am that we proceeded and walked inside. Now when I say that MooMa's (the actual store) is small, it truly is. They have a great selection of local food items like honey, jams, pasta noodles, milk, etc. The one thing that threw me though was the two smaller "ice cream freezers" that had frozen beef and pork. I prefer fresh meat over frozen any day, but I was willing to give it a shot. I loaded up on burgers, brats, and Italian sausage, but I did ask about fresh meat. They told me that they dry age all their beef, so if you let them know ahead of time before you go, they will cut it and have it ready for you when you arrive. Talk about customer service! That right there made this a five star establishment. I'll say this too, we cooked the frozen burgers and they were amazing. Not one of us could tell that they were frozen, which again backs my five stars. I'm not quite sure who the gentleman that came out of the office was, or the lady that he was with, but those two and the older gal working the store were the best. I'll drive here any day to buy my meat before going to a chain grocery store. Thank you Hunter Cattle!

Out of six or seven available varieties, we chose the Farmhouse Garlic - partially on the recommendation of the very helpful Hunter representative, but mostly cos both I and Mrs I love garlic :) The jerky is absolutely fantastic. It's tender, comes across as moist even though it has obviously been dried, and the garlic is such a fresh note that you really get to appreciate the heat that garlic can possess. I don't want to call it spicy - it's not like a jalapeño or anything like that - but it's a crisp, fresh heat like you get from a good peppercorn. I highly recommend it, and I'll be sure to give their other products a whirl as well.

I just had to let you know. The atmosphere at your venue was simple, but beautiful. Everything was set up and ready when we arrived. The food was super yummy and I went for two helpings! Not to mention two helpings of dessert as well! I was most impressed with the staff who waited on us. They were so very attentive, especially to the bride-to-be. I wish I had asked for their names as they were on-point during our whole event. Every drink was filled and refilled, the food station was carefully watched to keep it neat, and they even helped with carrying the gifts and picking up the wrapping paper. They made the bride-to-be feel like a queen! I walked out with a smile on my face to see such good service (oh, and I took a salted-caramel brownie for the ride home)! Well done Venue 1223! Any event I have, you'll be first on my list to host! Many thanks for the most enjoyable day!

The outdoor area was nicely lit for the holidays. They set up only 1 bar with 2 bartenders to handle over 60 people. They did a pretty good job keeping up. The credit card charges show Downtown Deli as the business owner and not Venue 1223 (probably owned by Downtown Deli). The food was pretty good. They had people serving Hors D'oeuvres which were a charcuterie in a cup, spring rolls, chicken, etc. The main course was either chicken, beef or specialty vegetarian dish which my wife ordered. It was basically a power bowl and looked pretty good with long strips of portabella mushrooms over salad with lots of quinoa and vegetables. My chicken was a bit dry and tough. The inside is a large open area for tables, a DJ and a dance floor. The staff was friendly and did a great job keeping food and people moving.
