Simply Magical - A Dream Wedding at The Mackey House!…read more There are truly no words to describe how incredible our daughter's wedding day was--but I'll absolutely try my best! The Mackey House is, without a doubt, the best wedding venue in Savannah. From the moment we drove down the breathtaking, tree-lined driveway, we knew this was the one. The grounds are absolutely stunning--the gardens, the fountains, the romantic ambiance--it all felt like a scene from a movie. What truly set The Mackey House apart, though, was the exceptional staff. Every interaction was warm, positive, and professional. They were always smiling, welcoming, and eager to help with anything we needed. A huge shoutout to Dave, who served as both the officiant and DJ. His great sense of humor had so many of our guests asking, "Where did you find him?!" He made the ceremony feel personal, heartfelt, and fun--truly unforgettable. And an enormous thank you to Andie from Emerald & Ivy Events. Her bubbly energy, calm presence, and constant support throughout the planning process--and especially on the big day--were invaluable. She guided us through every step with confidence and joy. Even a bit of rain in the forecast didn't shake this incredible team. Dave tracked the weather closely and made the call to proceed with an outdoor ceremony--and it was perfect. Andie calmly worked behind the scenes with the in-house and vendor teams to ensure we had a solid "Plan B" in case weather forced a change, but we didn't need it! Not a drop of rain fell during first-look photos or the vows, and the sun even peeked through the clouds as they said "I do." Pure magic. We loved how each part of the celebration had its own beautifully designed space: cocktail hour, dinner, and dancing--all thoughtfully laid out and seamlessly executed. The bridal suite and groomsmen's "man cave" were perfect for getting ready. And at the end of the night, the staff packed up all of our decor and belongings, making cleanup and departure a breeze. From start to finish, everything ran flawlessly. The Mackey House team made the entire day feel stress-free--for us, our daughter and son-in-law, and every guest. They treated everyone with such kindness, care, and love--it truly felt like they were part of our extended family. Thank you, Mackey House, for making our daughter's wedding dreams come true. It was the most magical day, and our guests are still raving about how beautiful and joyful it was! I just had to let you know. The atmosphere at your venue was simple, but beautiful. Everything was set up and ready when we arrived. The food was super yummy and I went for two helpings! Not to mention two helpings of dessert as well! I was most impressed with the staff who waited on us. They were so very attentive, especially to the bride-to-be. I wish I had asked for their names as they were on-point during our whole event. Every drink was filled and refilled, the food station was carefully watched to keep it neat, and they even helped with carrying the gifts and picking up the wrapping paper. They made the bride-to-be feel like a queen! I walked out with a smile on my face to see such good service (oh, and I took a salted-caramel brownie for the ride home)! Well done Venue 1223! Any event I have, you'll be first on my list to host! Many thanks for the most enjoyable day!

The outdoor area was nicely lit for the holidays. They set up only 1 bar with 2 bartenders to handle over 60 people. They did a pretty good job keeping up. The credit card charges show Downtown Deli as the business owner and not Venue 1223 (probably owned by Downtown Deli). The food was pretty good. They had people serving Hors D'oeuvres which were a charcuterie in a cup, spring rolls, chicken, etc. The main course was either chicken, beef or specialty vegetarian dish which my wife ordered. It was basically a power bowl and looked pretty good with long strips of portabella mushrooms over salad with lots of quinoa and vegetables. My chicken was a bit dry and tough. The inside is a large open area for tables, a DJ and a dance floor. The staff was friendly and did a great job keeping food and people moving.

Thanksgiving brunch order (2024; this past weekend):…read more Really GOOD that stands out: the fluffy pumpkin cheesecake, Rielsing gravy, the tenderness and taste of the turkey, the amount of portions, the apple pie. Really BAD that stands out: undercooked turkey (red and bloody) as you cut halfway to the bone (see photo): I find this unforgivable considering the high price! The stuffing was good but way too creamy--it was the consistency of creamed corn. The green beans were boring and undercooked (and yes, I followed the reheating instructions). Everything else was good but I wouldn't say amazing. We also ordered the Gouda Mac 'n cheese: pretty good. The tenderloin was perfect!
