We used Thrive to cater our family union celebration in August 2024. Guests enjoyed the food options, but my husband and I had a less than favorable experience with this company. We scheduled a tasting a few months prior. Thrive was an approved vendor for The Clyde Venue, so there was a level of trust we had without having conversations with the caterer because of how well the venue was providing services to us as humans, and not as walking dollar signs. The tasting went well. The form filled ahead of time was a bit overwhelming with the amount of options, but it's better to have too many choices than not enough, which was awesome to see. After the tasting, we had a consultation with a coordinator to select our menu options and discuss price point, we had a strict budget to stick to. When we submitted our deposit, there was an issue with the payment. It wasn't until I had the conversation with the vendor did I notice that we were charged more then the payment we discussed to pay, hence the payment not going through. We were charged an additional tent fee because The Clyde did not have a kitchen. Something we know from the Clyde, but we didn't know we would be charged an addition fee- neither the Clyde nor Thrive told us. At this point, we had a conversation with the owner and expressed our grievances for, what felt like, unethical business practices in relation to lack of communication regarding payment. We paid the fee anyways. Fast forward to our event, and the some of the food didn't look or taste anything like what we sampled. We understand cooking in bulk is different than a sample, but I was very disappointed. The caterers also left quickly when their time was done, so we didn't have a chance to thank them. My guests mentioned they did not see a "tent". After writing a review for the Clyde, we were contacted by our day of coordinator who was also confused about the fee we were charged. She reached out to thrive and resolved the issue for us, but it, again, felt like we were being taken advantage of which is something that felt icky for us the whole time. Unsure if we would use this company again, but they didn't not meet our expectations. read more

Extremely disappointed in the complete lack of communication and unprofessionalism of Thrive Catering. My fiancé and I contacted them on June 2nd to try to secure them for our December wedding. We had a conference call with them on June 6th and was told we would hear back from them soon and we had a soft hold on our date. At that time we were not told that anybody else showed any interest in or had a soft hold on our date. We emailed them on June 19th because we had not received any response from them at all. June 26th I called them around 1030 am and was told that our contact had been on vacation and they had the proposal put together and a manager had to review it and we would be receiving it soon. That was June 26th. On July 7th we still had not received any proposal or communication. My fiancé called the company directly on the morning of July 7th and was told someone else had secured the same date of our wedding and they were no longer available to cater our wedding. My fiancé was most certainly heart broken!!! I am extremely disappointed in the complete lack of communication and the unprofessionalism of this company!! The only communication we had was when he had to call them even though we were told they would be back in touch only for us to get crickets from them. It just feels like a bigger job came along so they kicked us to the curb. Extremely unprofessional and I would never recommend this company!!!!! I would give them negative stars if I could!! read more

Thrive Catering Savannah - Used Thrive for my companies most recent get together. WOW! That's all I can say. - Caterers Near Me - Savannah, Georgia

As a chef and former caterer from California, I want to give a shout out to Wendy and her team. I was lucky enough to be a guest last night at a holiday party in the historic district. I am very particular about where I dine out and am terribly critical about food. Every bite I had yesterday was delicious, well seasoned, creative, and presented with class. The servers were on their toes and very pleasant. Catering is a tough business and the public does not appreciate the detail that goes into every event. Actually, they don't need to know because that's part of the magic of a successful event. Ina Kuller read more

My husband and I used Thruve Catering for our January wedding following the wedding Chef Wendy asked me to write a review. Ao the review below is what I sent back to them. "Thank you for providing excellent service the day of Derrick and I's wedding. We enjoyed your professionalism during the day of the wedding and all the days leading up to the wedding. However, in regards to the food and the process of booking I was disappointed. Prior to booking I was under the assumption that all necessary equipment would be provided in the first invoice. However, after the COVID-19 pandemic I realized that this business was in it for the money versus helping families during these unprecedented times. I was disappointed that I was nickeled and dimed for the use of plastic partitions, which should have been part of your catering practice prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, cake cutting charges, and kitchen use difficulties. I am specifically referring to having to ask Thrive for permission to use the kitchen space to store the fruit tray and needing to ask if placing bottled water out after you all left was acceptable. As the renter, this was baffling that I was requesting permission to access areas that our money paid for. In addition to additional charges because of the national pandemic, I was disappointed with the overall taste of the food. The food presented to us during the food tasting was seasoned far better and more edible. However, the day of the wedding the food presented was bland and mostly inedible. Upon listening to feedback from guests, one guest stated that as she went to eat her chicken her "fancy silverware" broke. I was embarrassed that my guests had to experience that especially after spending such a large sum of money to use your business. In addition to the food, I believe that Thrive could have assisted the event DJ, by helping release tables in a more efficient manner. Many guests had to take it upon themselves to grab food, because they were never called. The last issue I have deals with the excess food. As a paying customer, losing access to food that I've purchased was infuriating. Thrive requested that I sign a liability form for various portions of the service and I believe a liability form could have been signed for the remaining of my food. With this all in mind I do not believe I will encourage or support this business again. However, we do thank you all for being there for this magical day of our lives." Overall this catering service deserves a C-. I wouldn't recommend them for a large event because of their inflexibility and hidden additional charges. read more

I can't say enough about this fabulous caterer. Thrive catered my husband's 60th birthday party and they were simply outstanding on every level. From the moment the staff and chef arrived to the moment they left, I felt we were in the most capable of hands. The staff was extremely respectful and professional and the kitchen was immaculate when they left. As importantly, the food was simply exceptional. My husband and I are from Colorado and South Africa and we wanted to incorporate a "sustainable" and "healthy" theme for our party. Thrive had numerous options on their extensive menu and our guests raved about how delicious the food was. Thrive was also extremely accommodating to those with food sensitivities, so several of our guests were provided with alternative choices. I can't think of a single thing that could have been improved upon...truly! I have to say, I'm shocked at the few negative reviews posted on this site. I can't imagine it's even the same company, and trust me, I'm well traveled, educated and have extremely high expectations. Thank you, Wendy. Your food, staff and business model is simply exceptional. If you're looking for a caterer to alleviate all stress and have a function that sets a very high bar on food quality and service, look no further. Thrive is the best! (And if you're looking for southern comfort food, they have those options also....and I'm sure it's off the charts delicious!) If I ever need a caterer in Savannah again, without hesitation, it will be Thrive. They made a special milestone for my husband particularly memorable, not only for us but to all of our guests from the many corners of the world! read more

I had this place for my wedding and although the food was good, the customer service was not. How do you bring catered food to a wedding in June and not supply drinks? How do you not specify this so that people can make accommodations? Why would you charge an extra $500 dollars for a chef to get your "complimentary" beverages. Also, I give Thrive a one star because they called my mother and asked her to delete her review about Thrive. What kind of joke is that? So let me get this straight...if someone posts a review about your business and you don't like it you'll go to the extent of calling someone and asking them to delete it? Sounds like you're breaking the First Amendment of Freedom of Speech. If you don't like a review then that should be fuel to do better next time and create a better catering company. Don't call them and ask them to delete it. read more

Steven and Thrive did an amazing job with our wedding. They paid attention to all the details and were very thorough, especially paying attention to COVID protocols. We loved all the food at the tasting, which made it difficult to choose, but we were extremely happy with our choices! We received rave reviews on the roasted acorn squash from guests - definitely a favorite! We also loved the boiled peanuts to start. They were professional and attentive and did a wonderful job making our day special! read more

We worked with Thrive Catering for our wedding in March 2018. It all went great and we would highly recommend working with Thrive. Wendy and team were easy to work with and communicative and responsive throughout our planning process. We tasted samples in advance and requested a few customizations, which all were implemented perfectly for the event. The macaroni and cheese bar and pie stations were both particularly big hits with our guests. We want to note that we appreciated Thrive's willingness and ability to embrace sustainable practices. We wanted our wedding to be as sustainable as possible, which is part of the reason we chose Thrive. We were very happy they provided non-disposable china and, for the few items that were disposable, the items were recyclable and/or compostable. We also appreciated their sourcing of local food. Thank you Wendy and team. read more

Great food and customer service! I went down to Savannah for a bachelorette party this past weekend. I was in charge of dinner and the caterer I originally booked canceled very last minute. I called Thrive and spoke with Katherine, and I could not have been happier!!! In less than 24 hours notice (they had a wedding that night and a luncheon already scheduled the next day), the staff at Thrive was able to make an amazing meal of salmon, salad, quinoa, green beans, bread and cookies for 19 girls. They delivered the food on time and it was delicious! I would HIGHLY recommend Thrive for their amazing good and excellent customer service! Thank you again :) read more

I cannot say enough amazing things about Thrive Catering. Katherine was the fastest vendor we had responding to us and this wonderful women was always on top of everything. She was a huge help in assisting us to select the menu in our budget, the number of guest, the day, and accommodating various food preferences. She even helped me out choosing wine when our bartender calls at the last minute. The food at our wedding was very Delicious and was presented beautifully. Our guests are still talking about Thrive's food and said that we could not have come up with a better combination of all items. I would definitely use Thrive again on any occasion. Highly recommend Caterer in Georgia. read more

My son got married June 3rd at the Davenport House. Workers were not friendly. They brought no drinks. We were supposed to have had water and iced tea. Phone calls were not answered. Wedding planner had to go to cvs and buy bottled water. My husband and I paid for this catering. Not worth the money. Would never use thrive catering again. Would like a partial refund but know thats not happening!! read more

We got catering from them for about three weeks straight excluding weekends. The food at the tasting was great, however as they began serving the food daily -- that's when it started to go down hill. Some of the people working with us were vegans, however multiple times their "vegan" dishes had cheese in it. Which, I'm not sure if they know what vegan means. They also did not label things correctly because some vegetarians were finding it hard to tell when their food hasn't touched any other meats. Everyone was having an issue with the food, most of the time it was burnt but my favorite part about those three weeks were how they magically made the food taste like nothing. It was almost like a diet, I saw what looked like tasty food but when I got to bite down it honestly tasted like absolutely nothing. I would imagine this is how a cloud might taste, just less fluffy and more burnt. I'm not sure how you make a sausage, egg and cheese sandwich bland but they obviously have some fantastic magic tricks up their sleeves because boy was that the blandest sausage, egg and cheese sandwich I have ever had. Multiple times our guests would refuse to eat because the food made them want to vomit. So they would be forced to eat else where. Which made me wonder why we were even paying for this service? Not only was the food bland and tasteless but we found hair inside our food multiple times. The hair was not sitting on top of the food, it was baked inside of the item. which can only mean that the cooks themselves were not wearing the proper hair nets. If their staff isn't wearing the proper nets then I do not even want to see what their kitchen looks like. In response to finding the hair-- we ended up calling them to complain and hopefully get a discount, the owner simply replied with a: "well I'll try to sternly talk to my staff" and didn't really sound too surprised when I expressed my disgust. I really don't think the owner is too smart because she called me back moments later... but only seconds after answering my phone I realized that she had called me by mistake. She butt dialed me. I listened to her for exactly 4 minutes and some odd seconds. She continued to laugh with her employee's about how hair was found. I assume when she said she would "sternly" talk to them she actually meant that she would laugh about it. Silly of me to think that a business woman of her stature would actually take a customer complaint seriously. Well anyways, she continues to laugh and make jokes. However the best part wasn't even the jokes about how they don't care about if hair was found but it was really when she started making fun of me. She repeated my name to her employees and continued to say that my job position wasn't respected and that obviously my complaint shouldn't be taken seriously. I'm sorry you didn't think my job title had much meaning. I sure hope you find me serious now though. Unfortunately, this company still got paid for their miserable three weeks of bland and tasteless food. However, I hope that after reading this review you will decide against hiring this company that takes obvious no pride in their food or costumer service. read more
