What a beautiful experience at this lovely inn located on Bay Street in Beaufort…read more Walking distance to eateries, shops and specialty stores. Upon arrival you are greeted and shown around the historic Inn. The history and background of this wonderful historic property is explained to guests in detail so you get a good sense of where you will rest your head tonight. An afternoon reception begins at 5:00 pm and the "bayside breakfast" deliciously starts your day. Bikes are available to tour around the quaint and historic town of Beaufort. The accommodations range from a single room to two bedroom suites. ***This property was renovated in 2024 and everything about it is perfectly restored.

The next morning when people checked out of the Federal room (guess the air conditioner was functioning in that room after all), we were begrudgingly moved to that room, which was indeed lovely. They offered a gift card for our troubles and after some back and forth agreed we did not have to pay for the night we spent in the basement room. The whole thing was handled poorly and put a damper on the weekend. The owner clearly wanted nothing to do with us, but the staff did feel badly and tried to compensate. Will not be staying again.

Through our research, we finally settled on 607 Bay Inn and I'm glad we did. We were graciously welcomed upon arrival and given a lay of the land which included two communal kitchens, the veranda and balcony, and our room. Our room was situated on the second floor at the back of the house. Each room has its own private bath. We also received vouchers to be used for breakfast at our choice of a couple of different eateries downtown. 607 Bay is easily within walking distance of shopping and restaurants as well as the waterfront. The inn has delightful waterfront views itself. We enjoyed our morning coffee on the balcony as well as our evening nightcap. It wasn't until a few years ago that I realized I had an appreciation for architecture, especially that of the previous century or two. This inn has that charm in spades. Though the essentials are updated as you can see from the pictures, the old wooden floors have a creak to them and the doors to the front of the house have notes on how to open them with ease. It's a charm that, to me, is priceless. Everything at the inn was well appointed. We had zero issues during our stay. If we're ever back in the area, staying here again would be an easy yes for us. I would recommend it for you as well.

You could tell how much thought and effort went in to presentation, flavor and diversity. I loved the peach cream baked french toast so much I had to look up similar recipes so I can make it at home. There were always cold drinks in the mini fridge, ice in the cooler, water in a pitcher, snacks in a bowl and best of all something homemade every day. I can't decide if my favorite was the rocky road bars, or this chocolate peanut buttery rice crispy like dessert. We stayed in both the Sunrise Suite and the Starfish room because neither were available for all five days. Both are fantastic! Hot roomy showers, oh so comfy robes, soft sheets and towels, mattresses that were not too soft nor too hard, perfectly painted, and well chosen decor. The house has a covered porch on three sides so there are loungers in both the shade and in the sun by the pool. My favorite spot was the swing. The beach is a five minute walk away, not crowded at all, and made for long walks. I love to travel and try new places, but Surf Song on Tybee is a place I will look forward to returning to in the years to come. I wished we lived closer so we could visit several times a year.

It was rainy and cold all weekend but we didn't mind honestly because the room was so wonderful and cozy! There were indoor cushioned swings to lounge in, complimentary robes, and the linens were to die for. It was so quiet it felt like we were the only ones there, and we had the absolute best view! Breakfast was fantastic and we enjoyed chatting with the owner, as she was super attentive, warm, and friendly. We enjoyed a cup of coffee on the porch swing before heading out for a walk on a the beach once the rain had cleared. We will absolutely be back to Surf Song for another stay in the near future! We cannot recommend it enough!
