Sunset from Hunting Island on the way to Fripp Island
    Amber M.

This is our home away from home, we've come for two seasons now and we love it each time. Ownership is adding a lot of upgrades, modifying and updating while keeping the classic charm to this island. Beaches are spacious and the sunrise is always amazing. I've read a lot of comments on the security but they're working hard to keep dangerous situations from happening and we've never encountered the island security under bad situations as we respected the island and its guests. We've enjoyed all of the structured activities and the live music and events are always fun for the whole family. I can't wait to compete in some of the competitions next year!

Recently visited Fripp Island Resort the 3 rd week of August. We stayed at the rental property located at 45 Davis Love. For a property to cost over 3K for a week I expect much more that what the property had. Upon check in we found only the basic housekeeping completed . There is no effort out j to maintaining the outside of the property. The landscape is completely overgrown and unkept. The house is covered in green mold. Certainly not worth what was charged . it is obvious the house is a cash cow for the owner and property manager. David B

    Pastoral scene

When you hear the phrase "pastoral scene of the gallant South," Fripp has them all. The combination of palm trees and moss in South Carolina was absolutely beautiful. A tad different than your typical Myrtle Beach atmosphere, this private residence is quiet and peaceful. You can still turn up at the Beach Club and Adult pool and then ride around on golf carts in the pitch black (no street lights) though so do not fear, beer is near! Also, Beaufort is just a short 20 minute ride from the island and they have a FEW more things to do when you start getting cabin fever. There are non-skiddish deer and we also unknowingly passed a 12-foot alligator in someone's front yard, no big deal just everyday life or death scenarios. If you are looking for a good rest, DIY fun or a comfy place to retire, Fripp is definitely your go-to destination. You're welcome.

Having…read morestayed there once previously, we remembered how enamored we were with the quaint downtown and decided to look for accommodations there. Through our research, we finally settled on 607 Bay Inn and I'm glad we did. We were graciously welcomed upon arrival and given a lay of the land which included two communal kitchens, the veranda and balcony, and our room. Our room was situated on the second floor at the back of the house. Each room has its own private bath. We also received vouchers to be used for breakfast at our choice of a couple of different eateries downtown. 607 Bay is easily within walking distance of shopping and restaurants as well as the waterfront. The inn has delightful waterfront views itself. We enjoyed our morning coffee on the balcony as well as our evening nightcap. It wasn't until a few years ago that I realized I had an appreciation for architecture, especially that of the previous century or two. This inn has that charm in spades. Though the essentials are updated as you can see from the pictures, the old wooden floors have a creak to them and the doors to the front of the house have notes on how to open them with ease. It's a charm that, to me, is priceless. Everything at the inn was well appointed. We had zero issues during our stay. If we're ever back in the area, staying here again would be an easy yes for us. I would recommend it for you as well.

The location to restaurants and shopping is great too! The one lady from concierge named Julie was really helpful and friendly when it came to reservations and recommendations. Moved to a different villa. Appeared clean with a nice golf course view; however, our eyes burned all night from an allergen of some sort--possibly from the one inch layer of dust under the furniture or dusty old bedding. Beds felt of metal springs in your back and flat pillows. Bottom line, the villas are all very old (and gross). Attempted to have a lovely breakfast after a terrible night of sleep, and the Jasmine Porch closed 45 min. early and was unable to seat us. For us, Kiawah is out. Stayed at the Sanctuary previously and it was not a memorable experience. After walking 18 holes at the Ocean Course, the pub was closed for a wedding. This place is hit and miss. There are a ton of other oceanfront golf resorts that are far better than this one. If you want a reliably amazing experience, don't waste your time or money. Sea Island or Sea Pines or even a trek to Pebble Beach would surpass expectations. So very much disappointed in our Kiawah experience.

We accidentally left clothes behind. I called the resort as soon as we got home. They took my name and number and promised to call. I never received the call back. We will never know!!! The no response was disappointing from such a nice resort.

City was amazing. Very well kept, clean and there are multiple places to access the beach. Some are only for golf cart parking. Our place that we stayed was very pretty. Let in lots of light as they had a sun roof. Not sure if that was part of the reason why the place didn't get cool. Also there were high ceilings. The coolest it got was 74 at night even thought the a/c was set to 60. It never really felt cool. The sink in the main bedroom was backed up and never cleared. The shower was very skinny. It was a 2.5x2.5 area. The shower head never really pointed down so if your short like me. It was hard to wash your body without being in the water. In the kitchen, the set up was nice but there was an air vent right at the feet of the sink. So as you washed dishes, you either stood on the vent, which was always wet (condensation I'm guessing) or straddle the vent. Outside there were two porches. One that had a screen and another further down that had no roof or screens. Overall, I would come back here but prefer a different unit. We didn't hear any noise from those next to us. Washer and dryer was nice, but the dryer took a long time to dry our clothes. They had a community pool, that also had a playground, putt putt and a small store to buy ice cream and other goodies. Tennis courts and pickleball was a few streets over. Well within walking distance. The city had a movie night but we were unable to go.

Seabrook Island is pretty far from downtown Charleston. A solid hour on a good day. The seclusion really helps. Low speed limits, curvy roads, lots of trees and lots of leafy cover was the start. A security station out front that limits the traffic helps. We went over to the office and picked up our amenity card. This meant that we could access the pool and beach area, which was lovely. A little crowded with families who seemed to have the same idea that we did. Still, it was a nice spot. There are very few restaurants and not much shopping on the island. You'll need to come all the way back to Freshfields for groceries and coffee. [Review 11595 overall, 1375 of 2019.]

The beach is nice and has a lot of shells, although the water is brown and not aesthetically pleasing. Cons: The unit we had smelled musty as soon as we walked in. I have asthma and I began to struggle so we opened the glass doors to air it out. I had to stay outside for a while. The refrigerators were warm bc they had been turned off (a sign on the fridge said they had been cleaned and to be patient while they cool back down. Hm. I've cleaned my fridge without having to turn it off so that wasn't jiving). This was an issue bc we had groceries delivered before we arrived. It would've been so easy to turn them on a day or two before our arrival. There are very few amenities; very small bottles of shampoo and conditioner, one roll of paper towels etc. You are expected to buy all you need, including any spices for cooking. The beds were a bit hard and very flat pillows. We had a first floor unit and could hear the people above us walking around. The QR system (which you need at the pool, restaurants and golf) was confusing to set up for the 6 of us that were there. I felt like I had to do homework just to go on vaca. All in all, it was okay but we will not return. Seabrook needs to pay attention to what makes a vacation worthwhile. To me, they do the bare minimum for their guests but the prices don't reflect that. We stayed at an Inn in Ohio of all places, and we had warm muffins at our door each morning, a bottle of wine and cheese plate each evening. Seabrook left an empty bag that you can bring to the beach. I left it there.
