But he sold it, and the new owner as of summer '22 worked only through FrippVacation and refused all contact. We are a 3-generation family of 16 including my wife in her 80s. The home has an elevator which she needs. Shortly before our arrival we were informed that the elevator was out of service, and it was not repaired. Also not working was the air conditioning system. This was South Carolina in the summer. It worked enough to cool rooms to 85. The door to one bedroom was all glass (in a wood frame); privacy was provided by a shade on the inside of the door, but the shade was missing, denying any privacy to the couple using that bedroom. Midway through our week, a very loud motor kicked in next to the master bedroom and roared nonstop for the remaining days, interfering with sleep. (I learned later it was connected to jacuzzi tub.) And there were other issues. I made repeated efforts to reach Bob Smoak of FrippVacations. At first, he promised to come out and fix things, but he didn't show, and after that he refused to respond to text and phone messages. Fripp Island is beautiful but FrippVacations is a company to avoid at all costs.

The island is beautiful, the fact that it is a preserve is so great. Deer everywhere. Alligators too. Beautiful beaches, and tons of choices in where to hang your hat while you are there. The only reason I'm not giving them 5 stars, is they have no recycling program that we could find. With a meeting like we had, it was a shame to see all of those recyclables end up in a landfill.

It was peaceful, relaxing, and the attention to detail showed how much the owners love their home and tried to make sure every guest felt the same way. The property is beautiful, the neighbors are friendly and for us it has quickly become the home we can't wait to get back to. It was in a perfect location. A few blocks to Bay Street and the water one way, a few blocks to the Chocolate Tree the other. Absolute delights in every direction. It was stress free in every way and Kathy made herself extremely available for our entire stay. We absolutely loved it.

We immediately reported the issue and provided photos, which we are including here so readers can judge for themselves whether these are bed bugs or, as Tidewatch claimed, "palmetto bugs." Rather than addressing the matter responsibly, Tidewatch dismissed our concerns and even accused us of fabricating the situation, saying the photos were from another property. Airbnb ultimately issued a partial refund, but we strongly feel a full refund would have been appropriate given the circumstances. Bed bugs (or any infestation of this nature) are a serious health and sanitation issue, and the dismissive response from Tidewatch made a stressful situation even worse. Guests deserve accountability, honesty, and action when issues like this arise -- unfortunately, Tidewatch failed to deliver that.

Upon killing them, I unpacked and went to take a shower and another appeared on the towel. Woke up next morning and found one in my bed and my daughter in law had bites on her arms that started severely swelling and were painful. Late Evening killed a few more and by the next morning we had enough. We packed our things and left. Stopped for gas and I opened the gas cover to find a roach. I immediately took my things out from the car and spread them over the ground to check and make sure none of the roaches followed me home. I contacted Tidewatch Vacations after checkout and filed a report about the living conditions (on Friday). They said someone would call me back. (they didn't). By Tuesday I called again and the 3 employees stated that they NEVER SPOKE TO ME. I sent them a snapshot of my call conversation as proof that I spoke with someone at their location and filed a report. Basically no one at Tidewatch filed a report, only requested pet control to go out and spray the property. This is unacceptable and customers should not be treated this way. What was supposed to be a wonderful graduation turned into a roach infestation nightmare.

No need to bring extras of anything. From toiletries to kitchen essentials - not only is it high quality, it is more than sufficient quantity. We cooked in on four different occasions - and were pleased with the seasonings, cookware and appliances. There is everything needed to start the day with coffee...from a coffee maker as well as a Keurig. There were at least a dozen pods, as well as ground coffee. Plus sweeteners. My friend enjoyed the complimentary (high quality...Kilwins) chocolate caramels and the bottle of wine. I enjoyed having the bikes and the sturdy and comfortable beach chairs. I easily took the less than ten minute bike ride to the beach, with the chair on my back (back pack style). I also enjoyed the less than ten minute walk to the lighthouse area. We brought my friend's two dogs. But, if you are not an animal person, you would never know this is a pet-friendly unit. It is clean and smells fresh. The beds are comfortable, each with their own private bathroom. The deck off the eating area is sheltered from any wind, and most of the sun, and overlooks a pond and the pool area. We are already booked for our trip next Fall. Kudos to Holly for this wonderful unit.

Every person that we dealt with at Beachside Getaway was so nice, helpful, and courteous! The house we rented from them was clean, well maintained, and fully stocked. The few minor problems we had during the week were taken care of immediately and was followed up on to make sure we were happy. Super pleasant place to stay…read more Sea La Vie has direct access to the lovely beaches of Edisto. With the shortest of walks you're hanging out in the waves. Recently remodeled, with a large spacious kitchen with an ultra useful kitchen island. Four large bedrooms each with their own bathroom which is quite convenient. This is one of the nicer places myself and my family have stayed in Edisto. With a little bit of extra thought and preparation this place would be a stellar 5 star vacation rental. The home has lovely pots and pans, but the worst knives ever. I ended up buying a sharpener in order to deal with the stunningly dull cutlery. 1000 serrated steak knives, but only one non serrated chef's knife. I'll probably bring my own knives next time as I love to cook while on vacation!
