What a beautiful eclectic restaurant! We sat on the cute little patio and had wonderful service by Emma. So for the food, had the veggie pizza with goat cheese. Omg everyone should try this with the thin chewy homemade crust and delicious veggies, one of the best I've ever had! The grill watermelon burrata salad was so yummy! The Thai chicken rigatoni was very good but a bit too heavy this time of the year. The menu is so diverse we are going back again before we leave town. read more

A wonderful place for Italian meals. The outdoor patio in the back is beautiful and a nice space to relax and enjoy a dinner. It feels like sitting in somebody's backyard, is green, and cozy. I have had the Roman style pizza the last time, which was good, and this time Fusilli with veggies, pesto, and chicken. The pesto is good though a little greasy. I would vote for more veggies in this dish and maybe a very light pesto on the noodles with extra on the side for those who wish to drown their noodles in pesto. The wine menu is extensive and the beer list is decent. I absolutely love the fact that they have 18% gratuity already built into the prices and that this goes to all staff, not just the waiters. Boy, was I lucky to have the opportunity to try this little gem!! Really the only appealing restaurant amongst this little strip of places on Water Street, so Mona Lisa's it was! I had a little over an hour to spare, so a shout-out to Nicole, my server from last Saturday, for accommodating to my short window of time! Super sweet, attentive, fast and efficient. What more could I ask? Skimming through their menu (though I wish I had more time to read it fully) I put my finger on the Italian sausage & rigatoni w/ puttanesca sauce. Also ordered the beet trio salad which was served atop a bed of some kind of whipped cheese (can't remember exactly which kind but was good) garnished with pumpkin seeds. Loved the different colors of the beets, as I've never had pink or orange ones before! Then came the rigatoni which was the absolute BOMB!!! Two huge, juicy and tender Italian sausage links charred to perfection, served with rigatoni and homemade puttanesca sauce (tomatoes, garlic, olives and capers) topped with a crumbled cheese (can't remember the name) and finished with chopped scallions and parsley. Mark my words, the BEST Italian sausage & rigatoni I've had in a long, long time!! Words could not express my love for their puttanesca. Wish I had some bread to soak up the excess sauce! Nicole even asked me if I wanted freshly shredded parmesan sprinkled on my pasta. How could I resist? To me, the parm was the "icing on the cake". Thankfully I had enough time to savor every bite of my meal considering that both my dishes were brought out in a very prompt and timely manner (thank you again Nicole!). I am always one for supporting local businesses, and Mona Lisa's excelled in every way: food, service, atmosphere, cleanliness and more! Went on Sat 5/22/2021 to celebrate our first indoor dining after Covid-19 pandemic. Had not been for over a year!! Great food and atmosphere. We started with Olive Martini and Man o War drinks with Artichoke Hearts & Fresh Baked Bread tray. Shared the Braised Pork Sugo Pasta. Excellent and only improvement would be tad less salt. Finished with Decafe coffee and the Ginger Torte. Like the new way( for us) the serving of water in wine bottles at tables. We would however encourage the paper labels to be removed first as they are reused & labels would be hard to sanitize. Enjoyed evening out ....oh we even got a window seat. Next time we will try out their new space next door that looks intriguing. read more

Made reservations online and was seated promptly for dinner on a Thursday. Very quiet and classy environment. Only thing I did not love was that everyone was pack into the same corner of the restaurant as opposed to spread out a little more. Food was fantastic! We got the bread for the appetizer and the garlic bread was to die for. Will definitely go back for another date night! read more

Can't do 3.5 stars, so rounding up. Pros: Ambiance, vegan food, menu Cons: Service Went two nights in a row. First night, had a new guy. Really new. Gave him the benefit of the doubt. It was cool, we were patient. Second night had an experienced server, but she was almost impolite. My wife thought we should ask her why she was mad at us? This restaurant has gone to the set 18% for all servers to pay a living wage. I 100% support that. In the second case, I wonder if that has now resulted in a European service style of "you'll get served when I see fit". The new guy was actually concerned about our experience. There was a young lady with glasses and a shaved head that was a really friendly server when we came in and even said "welcome back". Wish we had her. read more

Buyer beware. In small print on the bottom of the drink menu they let you know that a service fee of 18% is added to the bill. If you don't notice that, as was the case with me, you end up tipping 40% and end up paying $160 for dinner for 2. And the food was average at best. read more

Crazy to think that you can get a really good Italian meal in Eau Claire, but you can. It doesn't look like much on Water street but the place is decorated very nicely. We were there during Covid restrictions so the tables were placed pretty far away from each other. The service was very good. The food was excellent. The wine was very good too. The only downside was that it took us several tries to get in here since it is normally very difficult to get a reservation. But the food is worth it. Cocktails were delicious. Great selection of appetizers. I had the paella (pictured) and I was a little bummed there was only one scallop and two shrimps. My boyfriend had the carbonara (not pictured). All very delicious! Our server was great and the atmosphere was fun. Only downside was a fruit fly in my Fernet. I know it happens so I drank what I could and I didn't mention it to the staff, however I think the bartender and server should've caught that. I would've fished it out but our table was already cleared of dishes and silverware. Otherwise, great dining experience! Will be back. read more

Made yelp reservations for dinner here. We were greeted and they had our reservations and were immediately seated. All the staff we met were friendly and the waiter was exceptional. The decor was very nice with fireplace and exposed brick walls. It was also a gallery of art for sale on the walls. With the hard scape and a full house it was noisy and would not be considered intimate and romantic. The food ranged from pizza to steak/seafood entrees to pasta entrees. So it seemed to please the crowd from the very young with parents to couples enjoying the evening. The food we had was exceptional. Tenderloin with chimichum and seafood risotto with saffron. The desert was a chocolate flourless cake with a salted caramel ice cream and espresso poured over the top at the table. OH MY! I would recommend the food here but if you're looking for quite and intimate this may not be the place for you. read more

The restaurant is aesthetically pleasing ; good ambience. Massive velvet drape keeps the cold air from getting in. Amazing wine offerings. The food was delicious. I travel quite a bit for a living and when I stop in a city I like to really dine out. As for Eau Claire, you wouldn't think they'd have a very nice restaurant but they do and it's called Mona Lisa. I started off with the Caesar Salad. It was served in two wedges and was fantastic. For dinner, I went with our bartender Mike's recommendation and had the Beef Tenderloin with Lobster Farrow Risotto. I still don't know what the hell a farrow is but this dish was outstanding! The tenderloin was cooked a perfect medium rare and the lobster farrow risotto was just as delicious. My colleague went with the Paella. As for the kind of eater he is, he's the "Sally" of When Harry Met Sally when it comes to ordering food. He really enjoyed it. This is my second trip to this place. It's a definite stop for me whenever I have to do business in the area. When you get here, sit at the bar and have the rain man of bartenders named Mike to help serve you. Cory isn't that bad either. Atmosphere is relaxed, great vibe and very tastefully decorated with exposed brick and local artist renderings of, what else, Mona Lisa. read more

I was visiting in the area and did carryout from here with a friend. If you love garlic, olive oil, and dense, yummy flavor, this is your place. I ordered the gnocchi as my entree and the appetizer Brussel sprouts as a veggie. Sooooo flavorful. And a good portion. Because our collective order met a certain price, we got a free loaf of chewy Italian bread. We've been eating bits of that for days now. For dine in, it looks like tables were very well-spaced out and all of the employees were wearing masks. Our bartender was great as was our cocktail and that is where the good stops. Service was slow in the restaurant and our meals were awful, all 4 of them! We have been coming here for years and never had a bad meal, so this was a shocker. Two of the people we were with had one of their signature dishes, the bourbon scallops, they were way over salted and the bourbon sauce was watered down. When the server was told, she said she would inform the chief. She didn't offer to have them redone or offer something else and they didn't ask about the other meals. One of the other meals was not seasoned at all and the paella was strangely seasoned. Everything was off. read more
