The best banchan ever! Eat it with rice and fried egg and you have a delicious nutritious meal.
Andrea H.

As a Korean who's spent many years in South Korea, I have high expectations for banchan. I never thought I'd say this about a place in Austin but the banchan here is the best I've had in the US (including LA!) and on par with banchan in South Korea. Try all of them at some point and if you're a health nut like me google the health benefits of some of the vegetables you may not be familiar with. Things like bellflower root and lotus root are superfoods! Their kimbap, beef broth and other prepared foods are delicious. The best part is that it all tastes homemade with real ingredients. They even do catering! If you like birria and/or ramen you need to try their gamjatang. Spicy, rich deep pork flavors. The big chunk of potato makes the flavors all meld together. Tons of collagen in it too to get that natural youthful skin!

Mom's Taste feels like stumbling upon a Korean mom's kitchen in the middle of Austin -- humble, comforting, and full of banchan that taste like home.

Feels quite safe as well. We waited about 10 minutes, so they're clearly popular. Service was great, they were quick to refill our banchan small dishes, and portions were quite large too. Banchan included potatoes, japchae, octopus, kimchi, and purple rice, which was a nice touch. I don't usually love purple rice, but this was good. No fried fish like some other spots offer, but everything else more than made up for it. Decor is simple and bright inside. Beef Tofu Soondobu, Spicy Level 6 ($18, 8/10) - Pretty solid soondobu, comes with mushroom in the standard option, which was an interesting touch - Portion of beef was moderate - Spice level 6 was tolerable, not overwhelming (though I'm not great at judging spice levels, so probably could've gone higher) - Lots of tofu in the bowl, really enjoyed this - roth flavor was great, not the best ever, but definitely not the worst Overall, really enjoyed this spot. Feels like a mom and pop kind of place, great service, great banchan flavor, and probably one of the best soondobu spots in Austin. Would definitely come back.

Spicy levels hit just right. The mixed rice actually has some fried bits on the rice which is nice. The menu selection is pretty good. But no giant terra beer bottles.

Visiting Austin, and decided on this spot as it was nearby…read more order the seafood tofu soap, medium spice level. i was suprised by the banchan that included some fish and also the OG style rice. have not had this rice in a while. most korean spots i frequent just go with rice cooker these days well, i still remember the whole tea and rice deal to get the crunchy rice off and drink after dinner as sort of dessert. not really, its pretty much just rice water in some korean tea.. not something i crave... i do like the crunchy rice bimbibop style... i like the banchan, the one that stood out was the white veggie noodle like one that was in kewpie dressing. i think it was cabbage. taste like coleslaw, so i think it is cabbage. total was 20 cash. there was 4% discount for cash. either way, i was doing 20 as dish was $16. end up with $3.40 tip 21% all good. and the soup was as expected. 5 star all day when u can get good tofu soup for 20 buck all inclusive...

Their meat could have been great ONLY if the beef belly was not hella frozen. Thats the only bad thing I don't like the rest was really good and oh not that many meat options but it was good enough to full my stomach. I would recommend trying the short rib the one on the picture and LA galbi. I forgot her name but she was short korean who served our food. She was always smiling, energetic and very attentive. Thanks to her great service. Would I recommend this place? I wanna say yes its worth trying id personally would like to go back.

I have been wanting to try this Ghama Zone ever since they opened. We came on a Friday at 6pm and…read morewere very lucky to be able to get a table. I don't believe they do reservations but shortly after we were sat there was a waiting line. The restaurant was at full capacity with people at the sushi bar and regular tables. When entering you were promptly greeted and the staff was friendly. We ordered: * Chirashi - 5/5 super fresh sashimi and the presentation was beautiful. The bowl came with some pickled onion and cucumber of some sort. Served with a salad and seaweed paper * spicy pork - 5/5 it's not blow your head off spicy on the first bite but the more you eat the spicier it gets. I was making me break a sweat! This paired really well with the banchan. It's served with a bowl of rice. * complimentary banchan- 4/5 kimchi, seasoned onion, fish cakes, and an elbow salad . The kimchi and seasoned onion were my favorites. The fish cake was ok but it was a bit fishy. The elbow salad was bland. These banchan came in small little bowls and we had to ask our waiter to refill the banchan since there was 4 of us. * unagi nigiri- 5/5 the unagi was so good! One of the best unagi I had in a while! It was the perfect amount of sauce and I wish I would have ordered another one. * hotate nigiri- 5/5 like wow! I was pleasantly surprise the freshness of the scallop and it just melted in your mouth. It was smoky and idk what sauce they brushed the scallop with but it made the perfect bite. I also wished I ordered a second one of these. * salmon nigiri- 4/5- it was a good salmon nigiri. Wasn't the best I've ever had but it was good Note: I originally wanted to get their big spread bento box with all different types of Korean food that they had when they first open. But I was sad and disappointed to hear they had discontinue that. The only bento box presentation they do is the sushi. I really kicked myself for not coming sooner when they had that so I can try a little bit of everything they had on the menu with the large bento box spread. Do I recommend this place? Absolutely the vibe is great and the service is great. This place is a great date night gem and a casual treat your self to a great meal! I definitely recommend trying this Ghama Zone! They have a massive menu and you can eat Korean food and sushi :) best of both worlds! The sushi is high quality too! We can wait to come back to try their other dishes!

We ordered the bulgogi, the spicy pork, and jjimdak for my daughter, and every single dish was delicious. The bulgogi though... wow wow delicious. I cleaned my entire plate! We also had garlic edamame to start which was tasty. The green tea was a nice touch too, and at the end they surprised my sister with a free bowl of vanilla ice cream with cornflakes, which was such a sweet gesture and genuinely tasty. I never realized cornflakes make the ice cream even yummier! I'm seriously impressed and can't wait to come back. I just wish they delivered all the way out to Jonestown, because I'd be ordering from here constantly. Wish I'd gotten photos, but chasing around a 16 month old kept my hands full!

Then, the server told us to recenter through the original doors. Kan sushi shares the same space as the bbq. You can literally see across the room but cannot crossover. Opted for the à la carte instead of the all you can eat since we didn't want to overeat. Be aware that if you order all you can eat on the weekends, it's the same as the dinner price. Everything we ordered was delicious! Yam bam cruncher roll, buttery shrimp, tiger roll, truffled salmon. Nigiris are all two pieces. We also got carbonara udon, but they substituted the udon with ramen without telling us. They cooked it and the server told us to try it...I was like...we didn't order that. I don't have a problem with ramen but this is the curly instant noodle kind, which is significantly different from udon in texture and size. It ended up being comped. I would come back and try the AYCE.

But we had limited options on where to eat. The host was quick to sit us down. She told us about the all you can eat but asked about ala carte and this was an option so we went with this. We asked for waters and never got these nor did she notice. Orders were taken promptly and we received them in good time as well. We ordered a few different sushi and a ramen. They never offered forks for my little kids so I had to asked for it. The ramen came served without a spoon and also as soon as we saw it, I knew it was packet noodles. When I tasted it... I'm sure its shin ram Yun. That's pretty garbage to charge us $10 for packet ramen in a fancy sushi shop. The sushi were OK. All tasted like each other. I wouldnt come back
