Food is so-so and no atmosphere. Went one time and won't return. Alot of scentsy stock.

Order at the counter and they'll bring it to ya. The grub is comfort food. I've tried everything. While it is all really good, The geezburger is the best. They also do turkey and dressing on some Wednesday's that is filling and a tasty taco salad occasionally on Mondays. But it goes quick so get there early. In my opinion, the best part is the people. True southern hospitality with a unique personal touch. This is not English afternoon high tea fancy. It's hometown family reunion style. They're closed on Sundays and early Wednesday night for church It could be your first visit or millionth but they will still make you feel welcome and comfortable. Thanks Geezburger for the years of great food and good friendly service. (Genuine fulfillment of Matthew 5:16)

Stop by GeezBurger because we were visiting family in the area…read more Typical local owned restaurant. Burger and fries were the commonality on the menu. It was fairly busy with locals. We were seated promptly in a large booth with our three grandkids. Drinks were brought quickly and the owner brought crayons and paper for the kids. Ordered burger and onion rings, my wife had a burger with tater tots. Grand kids had corn dogs and fries. Food took a few minutes to make it to the table but they were fairly busy. Burgers were a little dry. Tater tots and onion rings were typical frozen product but cooked fresh to order. Girls love their corn dogs. Staff was friend and helpful. But at $8-9 for burger, fries and a drink, hard to complain. We were able to feed 3 adults and three kids for less than $45. Daughter said they had been there for breakfast in the past and it was really good. Pretty good for the price. If I'm in the area again during breakfast time, will have to try again!

From where we were at the Tennessee state line, it was about a 50 minute ride on small country roads. We arrived at Mike's Cafe after most of the lunch crowd was gone. We ordered the smoked chicken with fried potatoes, pinto beans and okra, a double cheeseburger deconstructed, small onion rings and a BLT to go. They didn't have turnip greens or collards so I ended up with fried potatoes. Fried cornbread was included. Inside the restaurant the ceiling in the small dining area was similar to galvanized siding. It was shiny new. I didn't ask if the dining area was a new addition. The shiny caught my attention. I believe there were 12 booths for seating. We were the only customers inside sitting while Mike, the owner, was back in the kitchen preparing our foods. We introduced ourselves and told Mike we drove over there because we heard so many great things about his food and that his restaurant was clean. It was clean too! Mike brought our foods out and we headed to the car. As we were about to leave, Mike came out with a sample of his hamburger soup on the house. What a lovely gesture. We thanked him and his wife and headed home to devour our haul. The smoked chicken was delicious! We thoroughly enjoyed the fried okra, pintos and fried potatoes. The BLT was made with a lot of thick cut bacon. Yummy! The double cheeseburger we shared later was delicious and cooked perfectly. If you like old style good home cooking, please stop by Mike's Cafe. His food is fire!

We ended up coming back a second time with our kids within a couple weeks. I had the brisket Philly cheese steak. The meat was so tender and had a lot of cheese. The sweet potato fries were delicious too. My husband had the chuck which is a double cheeseburger with onion rings. The onion rings are beer battered and crispy. You order at the counter and they bring your food to the table when it is ready. Soda and iced tea are self serve at a drink station. The ambiance is very cozy. Prices are about average. We spent about $30 for the 2 of us.

They were absolutely delicious! 5/5 Dave and I went to C&J with a friend who recommended the restaurant. Dave ordered the Philly on a hoagie with sweet potato fries. I tried his sweet potato fries and went nuts asking for more. They were great. His Philly made with smoked brisket was loaded with meat and exceptionally great. 5/5 I couldn't figure out what to get so I got the double bacon cheeseburger and onion rings. The cheeseburger was two large hand patted burgers. I had to remove one in order to eat my burger in public without looking ridiculous trying to shove the big burger in my mouth. The burgers were cooked well, cheese melted well, juicy and very tasty. 5/5 The onion rings were made with real onion slices. They were delicious and I received several more than any other restaurant has ever given me!!! 5/5 This restaurant is attached to a drug store. There is limited seating and most people get takeout. I saw people place their orders and then go to the drug store to shop. If you are in Athens, please check this restaurant and drug store out. The food is 5/5.

Really more like a 3.5, FWIW…read more Took a lil roadtrip out to Athens with my folks on a day off last week. We wanted to try this place. Since it is in the main part of downtown, super close parking is a bit of a big ask; we parked at a public government building about two blocks down and walked over. The inside is very small and only has a couple of two-seater tables and one bench setup, but there are multiple nice metal tables outside to sit at if the weather is good. Fortunately, we lucked out in that regard, as it was a nice day. The inside of the restaurant smelled absolutely amazing, so I was excited to order. Their lunch menu mostly consists of sandwiches and burgers, with limited sides like chips, broccoli salad, soup of the day, and so on. Bottled drinks and a couple of desserts round it all out. My parents split a Philly cheese steak sandwich with pasta salad; I got a chicken cheese steak with a cup of the soup of the day (potato), and we shared a slice of strawberry pretzel salad for dessert! The employees were nice enough to bring our food out to us while we were at a metal table on the patio, so that was sweet. Food came out relatively quickly and was definitely fresh. Overall, it was fine! My favorite thing was probably the strawberry pretzel salad; I wish I'd had a little more but I should've ordered my own portion! lol. The potato soup had really nice garlicky croutons on top that I enjoyed, though I wish there'd been bigger chunks of potato in it. I liked my chicken Philly just fine though I feel like it was missing some sort of flavor somewhere. My parents felt the same about their regular Philly. Unlike me, though, my mom unfortunately got several gristley bits she had to spit out. The chicken didn't have that same problem. Overall, a pleasant enough experience though I wouldn't say our socks were knocked off, haha. I'd return and try other menu options if I come back in the future.

Menu consists of classic American fare, like burgers, patty melts, and chicken tenders. Fries, onion rings, and tater tots for your sides! They also offer daily lunch specials; on Tuesday it was spaghetti and garlic bread, but other days have plate lunches like country fried steak. This appears to be a pretty popular deal -- lots of spaghetti coming out of the kitchen! Our waitress proudly explained how they hand patty the burgers and hand bread the tenders, and how the salads are made with freshly pulled lettuce. She also told us she'd worked there a long time. Love a place that retains employees! Says a lot. Our waitress did a good job, too. My parents both ordered a hamburger and split an order of onion rings. I was gonna go in on a burger but couldn't resist when I heard the tenders were hand-breaded. So I had chicken tenders with fries. The burgers were great! Parents said they reminded them of old-fashioned diner burgers. My tenders were also good: crispy breading and all white meat. The onion rings were crunchy and the fries were crinkle cut and of ample portions. My complaints are generally small, but for what they are: wish the tenders, fries, and rings had been a little saltier, and I wish the ranch for dipping was a little thicker and less herby (kinda tasted like salad dressing ranch rather than buttermilk). Still, minor in the grand scheme of things! Thanks for an enjoyable lunch! :)
