There are two buffet islands, one with main course and sides and some desert, the other with a salad bar and more desert options. The food is almost all southern, and some of it got rotated out while we ate (the chicken and dumplings gave way to country fried steak and gravy). Fried Chicken, pulled pork, mashed potatoes, fried okra, corn, green beans, man n cheese -- the list goes on and on. By and large, the food was exceptional. The fried chicken was moist and the breading is flavorful, the mashed potatoes were good. Pulled pork was succulent and the BBQ sauce was great. The strawberry shortcake was delicious. Only downsides from my visit was that the corn bread was a tad dry and not sweat (that's a preference thing) and there was no gravy for the mashed potatoes. That being said the yeast rolls are great. The chicken fried steak got rotated in with some pepper gravy (a bit watery) but these were the only nitpicks I found with my visit. Overall the best southern food and best buffet near Huntsville. My waitress ('Granny') was hustling, she made sure the plates were cleared and the drinks stayed full. Everyone seemed to know her and she was able to be friendly with the locals while taking care of business. All of the employees I saw were busy, wiping down the buffet lines, bringing in heaps of food and just making it a great experience. The value was phenomenal -- $12.50 for adults and $7 for kids. I wish they served Coke products and lived next door then they'd be perfect. If you're reading about this place and you live in Hunstville, its worth the drive. There are several refrigerators on the floor with grab and go items such as a ground beef-based "John Wayne casserole," pimento cheese, various casseroles, maybe a 3-bean salad, chick salad, broccoli salad, and more. A stocked confection counter is where you order and pay. They had really cute Halloween cake "pops" for sale and their "sour dough" bread was on a small display on the right as you enter. They offer hot lunch specials daily Tuesday-Friday, 11-2 and a soup of the day at 6.49, ranging from said John Wayne casserole to chicken poulet and stuffing. We missed the lunch window and didn't purchase any of the grab and goes. The staff here are patient and friendly! Really nice! Sister and I each got a loaf or 2 of the sourdough, sister tried one of their confectionery items and said it was good. I also got two of their giant chocolate chip cookies for the hubs. The unanimous verdict on their sourdough bread is it is a good bread, especially for toasting; however, sourdough it is not. The bite I had was sweet and fluffy. Hubs and sister agreed it was delicious bread, just not sourdough. So, it's back to Publix for sourdough. I have had a number of their other breakfasts (All American Breakfast, Chicken fried steak, etc.) and they were great. I am just addicted to the Banana Bread Pancakes. My wife has had many of their other items, and she is always very happy with her selections. I just don't believe there is a bad selection on their entire menu. The owners (Gary and Lorraine (sp?) are extremely friendly, as are the rest of their staff. It is always an enjoyable experience eating there. All in all, this is a great place to go for breakfast or lunch. We probably would go there even more often, but sometimes we think about it too late in the day (they are only open until 2pm).
