I hadn't been a couple months and stopped the day before thanksgiving. The sushi is so delicious and always fresh! Always! The owners/chef are so nice and always so welcoming. It was a bit busy and didn't get to sit at my fav table (in-front of the chef) but I didn't mind. I love that others love and enjoy coming here as well. Inside is pretty small with just a few tables but the food was good and had great service since my hot tea kept getting refilled. I tried the Salmon Sashimi ($13) and Vivian Roll ($19) both of which I enjoyed. The benefit of it being a smaller place is that it's very quiet. read more

After working a couple of blocks away for more than a year, I finally made my way into Momi Sushi. The service was fantastic. I was in between two different rolls and the man preparing the rolls kindly gave me samples to help me in making my decision, no where else have I experienced this before, wow! With so many five star reviews, I was pretty excited to give this place a try last week when I had a hankering for some sushi. I walked here on a Saturday night and was lucky enough to snag one of the few tables this place had. The menu had many different roll options and even though it was on the smaller side, it had pretty much any sushi roll you could want. This place doesn''t exactly give off "sit down sushi establishment" vibes, instead it looks like a barely decorated coffee shop with a few tables and a counter, though the prices are similar to any other sushi place. We ended up ordering and splitting a few rolls, which I honestly should have written down since I completely forgot which ones she ordered, but they are the two pictured below. The sushi itself tasted solid enough and I have no real issues with it, but they did just take like basic sushi you get from an all you can eat style place and the price just didn't make it seem worth it. Overall, Momi Sushi was a decent sushi spot and a place worth ordering from if you are in the area. The sushi itself was solid enough but the price to atmosphere ratio just didn't hit for me. Wow, I didn't expect amazing sushi at DTLA. We went here before an event at Crypto arena, which is nearby. We were able to enjoy our meal along with the friendly service they gave. My favorite was the Spicy Tuna roll and as mentioned in other reviews, this is truly melt in your mouth goodness. For the price, it is worth getting, I find the portions to be larger than usual. Interesting that they do makis-it was nice trying their Salmon maki. The quality of the fish feels fresh and would definitely go back again. Ive officially become a regular!! You're not coming here for a fancy/ dimly lit restaurant. You're coming here because the sushi is genuinely SO good. The spot is small and casual but as someone from LA who's tried nearly every popular sushi spot, the fish here is fresher and more consistent than anywhere else. The food was so good! You can tell it's fresh and made with love. The presentation was amazing too, which we didn't expect! Super duper cute! I put a photo of the plating but most of the sushi is gone because we ate it really quickly. We got three types of sushi: spicy crab, rainbow, and Philadelphia (if I remember correctly). All were so good!!! We also got two drinks and a side of spicy mayo. The total came out to about 45 dollars, which in our opinion isn't bad at all for what you're getting. I could tell they are in the game for the long term and I'm here for it. One of the owners shared how he is extremely selective as he sources the best cuts of fish -- quality is something he kept reiterating and that is something every small business owner should be proud of. He said that he rather spend a little extra on his ingredients so he puts out quality sushi rolls than to spend less on his inventory just to push out mediocracy, and I agreed with him 100%. After all, there is a brand and reputation to uphold especially while in such a competitive market like DTLA. Alright, on to the food. I tried the following rolls: SEVEN TREASURES ($18.95) Spicy tuna, shrimp tempura, salmon, tuna, avocado, micro greens, drizzled with house sauce. YULAN ROLL ($16.75) Butterfish, tuna, salmon, boiled shrimp, cilantro, jalapeño, masago then topped with creamy wasabi sauce. Let me tell y'all -- if I could describe every bite in three words, it would be: fresh, intentional, and fire. The fish is definitely of a different caliber and not of the quality that could easily be found at other sushi restaurants. Incredibly impressive. The establishment is small with very minimal indoor seating so I think ordering for takeout might be a better option if you have a big group. They accept cash and card, and are busiest during the lunch rush during the weekdays. If you're in DTLA, stop by to support this local minority owned small business! Top-notch sushi in this small, out of the way restaurant - not within the hustle and bustle of the Little Tokyo area. My favorite was the ENR roll which was topped with yellowtail: delicate and silky and tasted exceptionally good with the unusual garlic oil and wasabi. Ponzu sauce added to its yumminess. The Seven Treasures roll was also amazing, which the charming and helpful owner told me was one of the most popular with customers. Had lunch here around 2pm on a weekday after the lunch rush, so the restaurant was empty and customer service was excellent. If you're looking for this place, just know google maps points to the wrong location. Momi isn't on W 9th Street, but rather round the corner on S. Hope Street. Not the easiest place to find driving up and down all the one way streets downtown. But totally worth the visit. Will be back! read more

Came to LA for a concert and decided to try Momi sushi for lunch after seeing positive reviews on Yelp. Upon arrival, we were seated right away. The restaurant is small, only four 2-top tables inside. The waitress handed us menus but also shared there were pictures of the food on the front counter for reference. We ordered the spicy edamame and cucumber sunomono for appetizers. They came out fairly quickly. We were somewhat disappointed with the cucumber salad. It didn't taste like there was much dressing/sauce and if there was, it was extremely light. The edamame portions were small but the chili sauce they put on them had a nice balance of sweet and spicy. Next, I ordered the Above the Sea roll and my husband ordered the avocado roll and cucumber roll. I enjoyed my roll but the menu stated it had a ponzu sauce and I didn't find any sauce whatsoever. The fish however was extremely fresh. My husband's rolls were basic and just what you would expect for cucumber and avocado rolls.
