I recently got into yubus so seeing another places that specialized in it influenced me to try it. I got the crabmeat and torched salmon which were both really tasty. They were a lot bigger than I thought so it was good I didn't order too many since I'd get too full. I liked how there was a good amount of topping to rice ratio.
Tasty treats before my H mart shopping spree. Each Yubu is filled tot he very top. Pretty filling. Tried two of their top picks: King Yubu: sushi rice base layered with bite size salmon/tuna/avocado seasoned with ssamjang, mayo, and yuzu ponzu. Incredible. K-Soicy Chicken: BBQ chicken seasoned with the famous Buldak spice and topped with scallions and sesame to balance the spice. Very good. They also served small bowls resembling poke bowl. Would love to come back and try other yubu flavors and the bowls.
I visited King Yubu twice recently. The location on 8th and Catalina had delicious, fresh food, and the service was quick and prompt. What made it even better were the employees working there--they were genuinely friendly, welcoming, and provided great service, which made for a fantastic experience. The King Yubu inside Madang Plaza on 6th Street is decent, but the manager (or possibly the owner) was very unfriendly. They were acting really mean toward the staff, which left a bad taste in my mouth. While the food is good at both places, the 8th & Catalina location is definitely better overall.
I was staying at a nearby hotel in K Town LA and the Korean Plaza was located nearby. I found Kingyubu place on Google Maps and have been wanting to try a good Yubu spot. It is located across the way from Paris Baguette. We ordered the Mala Beef Belly, Lemon Salmon, Torched Salmon and Chicken Karage. The prices were very reasonable and the current special was to buy 5 and get one free. All of them were delicious, but the Spicy Mala Beef and the Torched Salmon were the winners for me! Definitely plan to return!
Saw a video of this place on Instagram and decided to give it a try -- so glad I did! Ordered online and the wait was only about 15-20 minutes, which was great. They also have parking available, which is a huge plus. The food itself was amazing. They've got a really wide variety of options on the menu, so you're bound to find something that hits the spot no matter what you're in the mood for. Highly recommend giving this place a try!
Very excited to try this place! We ordered a mix of yubu and I had the lemon salmon one - tbh, I was a bit underwhelmed. The salmon was a bit on the fishy side for me, and I wouldn't get it again. The spicy Mala beef belly, though, was excellent and had my mouth on fire, and I would definitely get it again. My FIL had the unagi avocado and liked it. The star of the show for me, however, was the rose topokki. It was a touch spicy but oh so flavorful! The fish cake and cabbage gave the sauce a complex flavor and kept me coming back for more. Next time I want to give the mala rose topokki a try.
Went to King Yubu in Koreatown, located on the bottom floor of a several story buisling. This is an outdoor venue so can be hot in the summer with no AC. Went for lunch with co-workers. The lunch special was a good value with 3 Yubu and a drink for $16.99. i got the King Yubu(the one with alvocado), beef bulgogi Yubu and co worker wanted the lemon Yubu. I also ordered the large loaded kimchi bulgogi fries and they were delicious. I'd go back just for the fries, but I would probably want to try some other items.
Ngl this lived up to every bit of the hype. Each pocket stuffed with deliciousness!!y favorites were the salmon and bulgogi. I would 100% recommend.
Kingyubu was packed when I visited, so be prepared for a wait. The place was busy from start to finish, but I appreciated the little extras they offered. They advertise a free soft drink for following and tagging them on social media, but I was pleasantly surprised that they gave me more than just the soda. The yubu was fun to try, and there were several healthy tea options to choose from. I honestly wanted to try them all since they're not the kind of teas you come across very often. The only downside for me was the roll--it was smaller than I expected for the price. Looking back, I would probably skip the roll and order a cup bap or a few more pieces of yubu instead. I also noticed quite a few people picking up to-go orders, so ordering ahead is probably the way to go if you want to avoid the long wait.

Also they're pretty generous with the toppings, making the price tag worthy. Our top two were the Mentaiko crabmeat and Philly creamcheese salmon. The sauce was super tasty and the salmon chunks were fresh! Beef one was tad dry and tuna was decent. They did serve complementary miso soup! Small detail but smart idea was certainly providing the plastic gloves so you could easily use your hands without having to get messy. Pretty big dine-in space gave it a plus point and all attendants were very helpful, making it flawless spot for quick dine and go.
Food was absolutely amazing! Service very friendly. Absolutely loved every bite! Will be back as soon as possible!

No, I gave this place a four because there was literally bums everywhere when you walk up on the stairway they're blocking the stairway they're on the side of the restaurant. It's very uncomfortable. There was even human poop on the side of the restaurant now when it comes to the inside, I just feel like cleaning can go a long way. It felt very just unkept to me and I don't like that with where they're gonna be cooking my food the food it's off with good. I don't see all the hype all over IG. It's good but definitely not game changing it. Reminds me of the little appetizers you get from sushi. I will say they do give you a pretty decent size for five dollars but I wasn't overly impressed with any of it so will I go again definitely not. The parking was horrible and the bums really turned me off, but like I say, give it a try and you decide.
Dang King Yubu ~ these jumbo tofu pockets be hittin. King Yubu - 5/5 Mentaiko Crabmeat Yubu - 5/5 Spicy Salmon Yubu - 5/5 Torched Salmon Yubu - 5/5 Philly Cream Yubu - "The flavor wasn't as complex as the other ones" Service was fast and friendly. Bathroom was easily accessible. Classic Koreatown street parking or the lot, if available. The ambiance was quaint, I felt like I was in Buseon. Overall, every KPOP fan should be eating here. read more
Not sure when Kingyubu moved to this new location inside the Plaza but it's definitely a better location than their old spot and great to get a quick bite between errand runnings. It's convenient for those shopping at H-Mart or Daiso and they validate parking in the deck. They specialize in their yubu balls which are essentially rice balls wrapped in tofu and topped with meat. When I came today my husband and I shared 3x for lunch - unagi, crab/fried shrimp, and grilled beef belly. All were very good! The mermaid one (crab/fried shrimp) also has a little kick to it with the spicy mayo. They don't have a ton of seating but just enough to get folks in and out. It's also all outside so it started heating up midday during the hot temps. Food was prepared quickly so you'll be in/out quickly. read more

Cute spot serving some pretty unique food! Parking was easy since it's located in a plaza, and there's a ton of seating inside, so finding a table shouldn't be an issue. They also have deals posted throughout the restaurant, making it easy to find a promotion that works for you. Pro tip: if you post them on Instagram and tag them, you get a free soda! They also have stickers available, which is always a fun bonus. For the yubu, we got the Spicy Crabmeat Yubu, Torched Salmon Yubu, and Queen Mermaid Yubu. Each one was a good size and tasted really good. The spicy mayo wasn't overpowering and mixed well with the other ingredients. I'd recommend getting about 2 per person, especially if you're sharing, since there are so many different flavors to try. Each order also comes with a miso soup! We also tried the Rose Topokki. We chose the spicy level, but honestly, it wasn't very spicy and could definitely use more heat. There was a generous amount of fish cake, rice cakes, and glass noodles, which I really enjoyed because of the chewy textures. My only complaint was the sausage--there were only three pieces, and unfortunately, they charge extra for add-ons. For a $26 dish, I expected a little more. Overall, not a bad spot and definitely worth checking out if you're in the mood for this type of food. I enjoyed the variety and would come back again! read more

Drove 40 minutes just to try these colorful-looking yubus we see in pictures and also recommended by a friend. It was our first time here, so even though there were only 3 of us, we ordered a little bit of everything to try. So, 6 yubus, loaded fries, mini cup bulgogi, and tteokbokki. First off, the young lady at the counter was super nice and accommodating. We were greeted right away, she even recommended the 5+ 1 Yubu to get a good deal. The food was good overall. The tteokbokki was definitely the standout for me! I would order this again, it was so flavorful. The loaded fries were also really good. I personally wasn't a huge fan of the tuna mayo yubu, but that's just me. Portion-wise, I'd say 1-2 yubus per person is enough, while the tteokbokki and loaded fries are definitely shareable for 2-3 people depending on your appetite. ($100 + for all these w/ tip included). The only downside was the plates they provide. Since the portions are pretty generous and meant for sharing, the tiny carton plates made it really difficult to eat comfortably. We asked for extra plates and even requested bigger ones, but were told those were the only plates avaiable, we still ended up asking again because eating from those little plates was honestly inconvenient. KingYubu :) your servings are great for sharing, so hopefully you can provide sturdier or larger plates in the future! The place itself is small and cute and located in K-town. They do have a restroom and parking available, which is a plus. Overall, still a good experience and we enjoyed trying something new. read more
Kingyubu was a TikTok recommendation, and walking in we knew we were in the right spot as they had their TikToks playing on a loop on the TVs. So the question becomes is it worth it or is it just marketing? The average price of a yubu is $7 with tax, so a whole platter like the ones you see on TikTok would come out to be easily $80+. We tried the kimchi loaded fries, the yubus pictured below, and their bulgolgi rice bowl. The portion of kimchi loaded fries was huge; the melty cheese was not just surface layer but extended down to the bottom! And the kimchi was able to cut through the fattiness. The yubus were delicious, some better than others though. The better ones were the yubus that balanced flavors well, like the lemon salmon or the King Yubu. The most underwhelming was the bulgolgi, both the bowl and the yubu. Just seemed like seasoned ground beef that I would meal prep for myself. Service was kind and attentive. They offered to take photos for us and offered recommendations. The restaurant looks simple from both the outside and inside, but serves some not-so-simple looking food. Can definitely see why this place is so highly regarded on Yelp! read more

Tofu skin as the base!!! Amazing. I ordered the eel Yubu and every single bite was full of flavor. The crispy skin mixed with the eel sauce and balanced with the avocado was perfection. The wait time was super short as well. The staff was super friendly and explained the menu items. I like that they have lots of seating and a to-go option. F O O D I only ordered yubus but they were all really good! Firstly, they came with two sides of miso soup (maybe one for my sister and I?) and we ordered four yubus to share. I tried to stick with the popular ones and got: King Yubu Queen Mermaid Yubu Spicy Tuna Yubu Grilled Bulgogi Yubu This satisfied all of my Japanese cravings all wrapped in a sweet shell. The portions were good: two for one person is definitely enough S E R V I C E It was just your basic Asian place in LA. Quick and to the point. Very casual and perfect for lunch. I love the Kingyubu one the most with fresh salmon, tuna, topped with avocado & fish roes. Wrapped tofu is so thin, but tasty. Miso soups also taste fresh & Umami. First time trying yubu and I was pleasantly surprised. They look small but are very filling. They have a buy 5 get 1 deal. We got a variety of them and they were all delicious. My favorite was the bulgogi. I also ordered the mentaiko but they forgot to include it. They gave me just an avocado yubu instead. I was enjoying the other flavors so I didn't complain. The service was good. They even explained how to eat them as they gave us gloves instead of chopsticks. This place must be popular because it was packed so the wait was long. I recommend ordering ahead. I definitely will return read more
I've had this spot on my ktown want to go list for a while now to try their popular yubus (stuffed tofu pockets). I ordered the King Yubu lunch special which comes with 3 yubus of your choice and a drink. I got the grilled bulgogi, spicy mala beef belly, and the spicy tuna mayo yubu. All of their yubus were soo good. Each of the were packed with so much flavor. The service here is good. The workers here are very kind and helpful. Definitely will be back to try different yubus and other items on their menu. Try it out if you like. :) read more

Easy, affordable eats in k-town. Went for a quick weekend lunch. Service and ambiance were pretty no frills - you order at the counter and it's self seating. Had a few different ones to munch on (some salmon, tuna, and bulgogi yubu). Everything was pretty delicious. Would say the only issues were parking (had to street park a bit away) and the seating area can get a bit claustrophobic as there's tables are cramped in quite a bit. Would recommend! read more
The freshness of the fish!!!! 10/10 for a delicious, fresh, filling lunch! There are soooo many different flavor combos to choose from, I can't wait to try more! We made a big order from our office through toast and picked it up during lunch. I recommend doing so as they were quite busy (viral place). They are vital for a reason. Everything coming out of the kitchen looked amazing. They have Korean favorites to more Japanese inspired dishes and hand rolls. Parking sucks but we are in KTown so you should know that by now. We came during lunch and for 3 yubu with a drink it's only $16.99 and they give you a cup of miso soup. I was super full and I didn't even finish my 3rd yubu, so it's a really good deal. We came during lunch time and it wasn't busy when we walked in, but as soon as we sat down, it got pretty full fast and I kept hearing the DoorDash thing beep, so it seems like a pretty popular spot. They have a pretty nice amount of options for the yubu toppings, so I'm sure they have something for everyone. Staff was really welcoming and nice. They were super friendly and helped us out w the kiosk. The restaurant seems pretty clean; however, the outside of the building may look questionable, but once you go into the restaurant it's clean inside. They don't have a huge parking area, so good luck coming when it's busy! read more
The yubus are pretty good. I liked the spicy salmon one the best out of what we tried. The sotteok is also pretty tasty, but I think I could do without it next time. I really enjoyed the complimentary miso soup for everyone. read more

It was our first time here and it won't be our last! It was worth the drive! The salmon with lemon and the spicy tuna were my favorite! YubU Chopop were a great size! It was a very small environment but it was nice and clean. read more

Kingyubu now is one of my favorite korean bites to go to in LA. I've been hearing about this spot for a year now and finally got a chance to try it and it did not disappoint. I chose to do take out and ordered through online. The process was very simple and straight forward. When we got there, one issue was parking as it was limited. However it wasn't an issue since I'm just picking up. For sit down it may be a bit challenging to find a place to park. Service was amazing because workers were nice and helpful. The food overall was very flavorful and fresh. I feel like they did a really good job putting the right amount of each ingredient into each yubu and it made each bite so good. Definitely recommend Kingyubu any time you are in the area!! Hope to come back soon! read more

10/10 rating with zero critiques. This unassuming shop has an incredible selection of yubus and bowls. We ordered three yubus: the torched salmon, spicy bbq pork, and tuna mayo. They came with complimentary miso soup, which was a nice touch. When I tell you these yubus were absolutely STUFFED to the brim...every square cm was packed with flavor, even the sushi rice. The torched salmon was our favorite, but they were all smoky and savory and surprisingly filling. The yubus are a bit difficult to eat as they are piled high with toppings, but they provide plastic gloves so you can use your hands. read more

I love their rice to meat ratio because it was loaded to the top and it's bigger than the ones I've had before. I feel like you can have 3 and get full. I absolutely loved the corn dogs, I think it's some of the best ones I've had. It was crispy and cheesy. I also like the loaded fries and the toppokki. I feel like they don't skimp on the toppings. Can't say much about service but they were really quick and efficient. The place is outdoors with plenty of seats. Definitely a great place to try out if you're craving for some fusion food. read more
