I wanted to update my review since its been awhile. Moohan still continues to be my favorite AYCE Kbbq spot in LA. They just have a large variety, great service, and affordable pricing. I came in recently with one other person for lunch. I love that they have a self service bar that includes hot items, cold items, banchan, and even meats. Fresher meats and other items are ordered though the kiosk. There wasn't any meat there we did not enjoy. Everything was really good. Besides the meats, my favorite items also include their ramen, korean pancake, and the lunch box. Besides foods they also have drinks such as cocktails. The staff came quick with whatever items we ordered. We were never left without meats. I also like that their grill doesn't burn is quickly as other places and they replace it without asking if needed. The inside is large and is great for small or large group. They do have a 90 minute limit which I found to be more than enough time. There is validated parking for $3 for 2 hours in the lot. Can't wait to come back. read more

We ended up at MOOHAN for a birthday dinner, and it felt like the right kind of place for it - lively, energetic, and centered around the table. We completely forgot to make reservations, and the place was packed - after all, it was a Friday night. They originally told us the wait would be over an hour and a half, but the hostess was really nice and somehow we ended up getting seated in under 30 minutes, which definitely saved the night. The meats felt premium, and what really stood out to me was the energy of the place. It had a lively buzz without feeling over the top, which worked well for a birthday dinner. The self-serve bar was a nice addition too. Plenty of variety beyond just the meat - from banchan and hot food to little extras that make it easy to pace yourself between rounds. There's a lot of good food there, but I try not to fill up on baked potatoes and bacon before the meat starts coming out. :) The atmosphere leans more modern and energetic than traditional. It definitely gets busy and loud, but that's part of the experience here. It's not the cheapest Korean BBQ spot in Koreatown, but the quality and overall setup help justify it. read more

We got reservations ahead of time as the wait could be long. Happy hour drinks before 6p on weekends. Validated Parking is available for $3 for 6 hours in the equitable lot and free for 3 hrs in the City Center on 6th lot. No validation in the hmart lot. Clean bathrooms! You can do premium or regular kbbq. For regular you can get your meats and other dishes from the "buffet" area but for the premium selection you can order more on the tablet tableside. There can be limits for certain premium items. The team is fast and came to change the grill several times and quickly cleared our empty dishes. read more

My first time trying and got the classic. You choose your broth, 3 meats and sides. We got the Prime, Short Rib and Toro. We had ordered some shrimp for the side.But we didn't receive it. It's been a minute since I've last had a classic KBBQ experience, so when I learned about Moohan, I had set my sights on it. We came during their weekend happy hour (Sat to Sun, 2pm to 6pm) and were seated within 5 minutes. The restaurant is large and expansive, with plenty of spacious seating and includes a large hot food bar to accompany your grill. We went with the premium AYCE which featured wagyu meat selections, seafood and everything from the other menus. My favorites from our order had to be the wagyu beef belly, prime beef tongue and pork jowl. If you're unsure of what to order first, the premium platter is an excellent option to start with. The meat quality is stellar and each order comes perfectly portioned. The sides that also came with the premium menu were also delicious, particularly the spicy tuna crispy rice. Additionally, the hot food station offers classic Korean favorites like kimchi fried rice, Tteokbokki, and more. Don't fill up too quickly so you have enough room for to enjoy the actual BBQ! Service was attentive with our waiter coming by frequently to attend to us and assist with grill changes. I appreciate how he helped us swap out to a completely different grill to enhance the LA galbi we had ordered, which was a nice surprise. The only hiccup was although we had a reservation for 7:30pm, our party wasn't seated until almost an hour later. Granted we had a large party, but were not expecting such a long wait. However the staff were really apologetic and service was fast and efficient when we sat down. We opted for the premium AYCE menu which comes with more prime meats. The dining time limit is 100 minutes and all guests at the same table have to choose the same tier (premium vs essential). Everything we had was so delicious and I can confidently say this is one of the best AYCE kbbq spots I've had in LA! They have an AYCE buffet with a ton of side dishes but make sure save enough room for all the meat! The ambiance is great although the music was on the louder side. This 'All You Can Eat' Korean BBQ is a unique throw-back to the pre-covid age - because it is a BUFFET - including the meat. Long before Covid, many of LA's AYCE K-BBQ places began to have a Banchan Buffet counter, offering bottomless salads, kimchee, & a dozens other types. My daughter and I loved this endless supply of Fried Fishcake, Sweet Omelet, Cubed Daikon Kimchee, and Dried Anchovies coated in sticky-sugar, plus more. I fact we often decided which restaurant we wanted to go to based on how many items were being offered on the Banchan-Bar. The banchan bars were so successful that soon even more counters were installed, offering even more types of items like Maki Rolls, Soup, Tempura, Kim Bop, Purple Rice, and even more specialty Banchan, including Raw Blue Crab kimchee style, Soy Sauce Egg, Marinated Gourd, and Desserts. And then they eventually added a 'Meat-Bar', where the raw meat meat for cooking at your table is selected. And these AYCE Korean BBQ Buffets with Meat-Bars started taking over the AYCE scene in LA. This trend happened until late 2019. I remember back then (in the early two thousands until nearly 2020), when places like this were beginning to become popular in many North American cities with big Korean neighborhoods, like Los Angeles, San Francisco, New York, Vancouver, Toronto, and Seattle. Then everyone began to Panic, as Covid-19 took control over the entire food world. Within a matter of months, most of these excellent places had closed down. And they've stayed Closed since then. But they are slowly coming back to life. And I hope it stays that way. Because Moohan Korean BBQ is one of the best, offering an amazing meal for a reasonable price, in an atmosphere that is more akin to a high-end Korean restaurant than a worn-down buffet. The all you can eat for a set price and the time limit is the best thing about this restaurant.... This means they have a quick turn around of people leaving and not overstaying causing huge wait times . Love how everything is self services with option to have delivered to your table . The music wasn't too loud. I felt like I was dinning at a a restaurant with a club next door . I liked the vents over the food to capture the smoky and smell of the bbq. I really enjoyed the sides pre sit down .... Counted there were at least 5 traditional sides to the Korean meal... a must ! Quick parking note first because it helps. Park at Equitable Plaza Public Parking on South Mariposa Avenue. Easy to find and they validate after you eat, so getting to Moohan KBBQ is simple. We had about a 15 to 20 minute wait for a table, which felt fair for how busy it was. We started with the crispy spicy tuna, beef tartare hand roll, spicy tuna hand roll, and beef tartare. The beef tartare hand roll was the clear favorite. Super savory and delicious. We ordered a few more because it was that good. The spicy tuna hand roll was solid and satisfying, not a standout but it hit the spot. The beef tartare had good flavor but was a little frozen in the middle. Probably would have been perfect if I let it sit for a bit before digging in. For KBBQ we ordered the KBBQ premium platter with a variety of meats like brisket, plus the prime seasoned short ribs and lemon herb scallop. The short ribs were amazing. We ordered about four rounds. Juicy, flavorful, and cooked beautifully. The lemon herb scallop was a surprise hit. Very well seasoned, buttery, and quick to cook. Service was friendly and attentive. We really enjoyed our experience at Moohan KBBQ, I love their setup. Most of the popular meats, hot items, and salad bar are self-serve, which makes it super efficient and keeps things moving. Yesterday, I went to Moohan Korean BBQ with my 15 group members.. It's an AYCE spot, and the quality of the meat was very good. All of the side dishes were delicious as well. The servers were friendly and attentive. They refilled our water right away, and whenever we asked for anything, they brought it out very quickly. I really like meat, salad, and tteokbossam (ricepaper) together, and Moohan has the tteokbossam that I like, which made the experience even better for me. cf 1) Parking is available inside the Equitable Building. With validation, parking is free-- just make sure to remember your car's license plate number. cf 2) The restroom was also interesting. When you wash your hands at the sink, the same unit right next to it blows air to dry your hands with a built-in fan, which I found pretty cool and convenient. I've been to many AYCE Korean BBQ spots in Koreatown, but this was a very different experience not in a good way. I came here thinking it would be a fun place to enjoy food and drinks with friends since they have a full bar and a lively atmosphere. However, once our time limit passed, we were no longer allowed to order any food, which felt very abrupt. What made the experience worse was the way the MANAGER seemed to pressure the server to clear our table quickly. We hadn't even finished eating, but we were already being asked to pay. It felt like the server had no choice and was being pushed by the manager. After that, it constantly felt like they were watching our table, waiting for us to leave. Been to Moohan 5 times already in two months since my family and I loved it so much! The meat is good quality and the cooked food buffet is so delicious. A lot of the meats are already in a fridge where you can get it yourself so it's really nice to just get as much meat as you want. The service is amazing as well. Everyone that I have interacted with there is so nice and quick when it comes to cleaning up after you when you're done with dishes and other things as well as bringing you your orders. Came here around a month ago, and had to call ahead to make a reservation as I came with a group of 10. When we got there, it took them a while to get the room ready, but when we got seated we got a nice private room to ourselves. Ordering was insanely easy to do on the tablet, and other meats we could just get up and grab from the buffet. The meats were a good quality, and special dishes (like the pork bun) were insanely good, though took a little longer to come out. Most Korean bbq's will help you with cooking here and there but this place will make sure you're doing it right. So if it's your first time don't be shy just ask for help! Moohan's on the expensive side but you'll see from your first bite that the quality is definitely worth the money. Brought family over and they were immediately skeptical about the price. Nonetheless we ordered premium and just the brisket had us in awe. Hard to have cheaper Korean bbq's after meat this good! All premium meats are heavily marbled and you'll want a long nap after for sure. I also love that their fried rice contains pieces of meat. If you ask me I think it's a smart way of using all their meat. The self serve bar is beautiful and well organized. The decor feels very exclusive and the dining area is well equipped with proper ventilation. The only item I didn't find to be all that great were the scallops, the seasoning is very salty. I've been to Moohan several times now and always had a great experience! Korean BBQ is one of my comfort foods and if I'm going to do AYCE, Moohan is one of the best spots in Koreatown. They do take reservations which is a nice bonus for an AYCE KBBQ spot but I'm an old lady that eats early and never has a problem walking in & getting a seat. Service is always great here, very friendly & helpful. WAY more on top of switching out grills than I've ever seen which is great for keeping smoke levels down. That being said, it is still Korean Barbeque so there will be smoke lolz. I've done both the Premium and Standard sets here and enjoyed both. Their LA Kalbi is pretty delicious and get 10000000x orders if you do the premium, truly great marinade on this meat. But trust that even with the standard set, meat feels high quality and taste. You just have more options of even fancier meats if you do the Premium set, like the aforementioned LA Kalbi but also an upgraded Wagyu Bulgogi which is great and seasoned shrimps. As far as banchans, you mostly hit the buffet for those though I appreciate the rice paper already on the table. You can actually get more rice paper at the buffet if needed. Moohan is gonna get you with everything at that buffet! More meats are up there but also so many yummy dishes. It's going to rightfully distract you from the meats, great little buffet.
