Molten Java has been a staple in my life ever since I was in middle school and it was located at what is now half of Relay Bookhouse. I make a point of visiting every time I'm in town. I'm pretty sure their pumpkin spice lattes have actual pumpkin in them (!!). The Turkish Latte is my go-to drink, and the veggie chili never disappoints. Molten is one of the strangest places that I have ever encountered. The decorum is fun and very stereotypical coffee shopesque. The staff are incredibly friendly, each with their own great personalities. The coffee is probably the best in Bethel. O'neils makes an okay cup of coffee, but Molten's is still better. The regulars can get a little inappropriate and unruly at times but it's a hipstery coffee shops with dyed haired baristas so what do you expect? The food is good. A lot of beans, burritos, and chili. This is establishment is most certainly keeping Bethel... Regular. It's a wonder how the bathroom doesn't smell like a Mexico City porter potty. The upstairs is nice and quiet, but due to the awful and rude 13 year old bmx kids, it gets closed early. I would recommend Molten. The coffee is good, the atmosphere is charming, and the staff are incredibly friendly. read more

So I basically just paid $6.00 for two plastic cups-as I came home and dumped out my coffee and made my own brew!!!!! I ordered an iced coffee with white chocolate, an iced coffee with hazelnut, and a pretty rock solid chocolate chip cookie. It's never a good sign when the barista has to go to the sink to run the syrup under hot water since it was like glue from sitting for god knows how long. After taking my first sip I contemplated spitting it directly into the garbage can since I nearly threw up in my mouth. The white chocolate was like gelatin and it wouldn't even mix into the coffee-when I poured it out into the sink it was like dumping tar down the drain. GROSS!!!!!! The hazelnut wasn't any better as the coffee itself tastes worse than McDonald's watered down brew. Long story short go anywhere other than here for coffee-I'm sure you can get a better cup at the Mobil station. read more

Artsy coffee house! When they first opened in their new location, it seemed to be an immediate hit. Their featured coffees rotate daily, so I am always in for a surprise. And there's no pressure if you care to hang loose for awhile. Lately (the last couple months, anyway) there have been some changes (an idiotic 4-day period in which to use a full "frequent flyer" card; staff turnover), but most apparent has been the owner's attitude change. Where I had previously gone nearly every day for coffee "and", now I choose to go elsewhere if the owner's car is visible near the shop. I hope she wakes up and realizes that a crappy attitude affects her business even more than whatever she perceives as being at fault for the falling off in clientele. read more

What a let down. Went to Molten Java a few times in the old location and thought is was a pretty cool place. Didn't get anything other then tea, but it was a good experience. Went to the new location for the first time and was excited to check it out and get some lunch. The menu was all over the place and hard to read. The food was pre made and then micro waved. The two women working there were not nice and not very helpful. They charged me for tap water, ridiculous. They have a fee if you use debit or credit under $8. Over all, the food was gross and the service was horrible. Will never go there again, I highly do not recommend it. read more

not the best coffee shop around, but definitely not the worst. I like that they have quirky drink names and flavor combinations but the coffee itself would keep me coming back for more. As for the customer service, so far in my experience had been acceptable. No one has ever been rude nor has anyone displayed exceptional customer service. finally the place itself is cozy but odd. It seems very old a little cluttered but not dirty. So overall Molten Java is OK, I wouldn't be opposed to going there again but its not the first place i'd think of if I was craving coffee. read more

I have gone to this place for years and continue to enjoy going there. The coffee is always good. I have been addicted to the chocolate muffins they sell for as long as I can remember. I've loved those baked goods literally for years.... I used to hang after high school and play chess in the old location. Such awesome memories. Now that I'm out of college I find this is a great place to catch up on things on my laptop or hang out with friends. I also enjoy just swinging by to grab a coffee to go though, too. This is by far my favorite coffee shop. Went in last week for a coffee and small snack. There's a great selection of healthy and delectable foods for everyone to choose from. The coffee is always made exactly how I want it and the staff always has a conversation with me while I wait. My service is friendly fast and the order is always right. We go every week to pick up a pound of coffee (roasted at Molten Java). Great choices and a wide variety that I haven't found anywhere outside of NYC (specifically Porto Rico on Bleecker St). Most times we get Tanzania Peaberry or something from Peru. A couple of really unique drinks from the bar are the Turkish American (espresso, water, some sort of sweet syrup, and some exotic spices) and the Dirty Joe (a regular coffee with caramel syrup) which I like because they are not milk based. Bathroom was 9.5 out of ten. Coffee was decent. Staff got a bit pushy after the shift change coinciding with peak hours. I suspect they cut off the internet to keep us from loitering even though we had been continually buying drinks. Would consider coming back if staff cut out the passive aggressive bullshit and asked us to leave outright. read more

Nice indie coffee house with a slightly hippie vibe. Lots of different coffees to choose from. I like the outside seating and generally relaxed atmosphere of the place. I'd go here more if the Wi-Fi worked better. The last time I was in there I brought my laptop but couldn't get a connection, despite trying for about 1/2 hour. I heard later that they've been having issues with the wireless, which is a shame. read more

Molten Java is a Bethel institution. The coffee drinks are solid - they usually have an interesting special latte, and the iced coffee is consistently good. There is also a reasonably good selection of vegetarian food - my favorites are the veggie chili, or, if you're around for breakfast the huevos rancheros bowl is HUGE and tasty. But Molten is really about a lot more than the coffee and food. They always have interesting local artwork on the wall, which is frequently rotated, and they host musical acts on a regular basis. It's an easy place to meet friends and talk, or make new ones. read more
