Absolutely delicious! What a cute, gem of a bakery in downtown Iowa. I loved the "mission" of giving back to local schools too to honor Molly who was the owners teacher. Cupcakes were absolutely delicious and a hit as dessert at our family's Thanksgiving. Staff was friendly and it's super fun inside with swings to sit in at the service bar. read more

This cute lil place was an incidental find while walking around downtown Des Moines, and I'm so glad we stopped in! The shop was tidy and welcoming, featuring vintage lunch box decor, swings instead of chairs up at the countertop, and a map to mark where you're from. The service was friendly and prompt. Everything was very inviting. They have lots of seating and games to play while you eat your cupcake. We tried a variety and every single one of the cupcakes we got was delicious. They were all moist with just the right amount of sweetness. My favorites were the peach cobbler and the banana split. read more

Ordered a dozen of the mini cupcakes and within a day they were very dry. Also, ordered 4 of the larger cupcakes and those were really wet.

I went in to the store and the service was awful all around from the beginning interactions. I ordered 2 gluten free vanilla cupcakes, one regular chocolate cupcake, and a Ron Bennnington cupcake. I received 1 key lime cupcake and a churro cupcake that were both marked as gluten free on the box and then another box with 2 regular vanilla cupcakes. read more

We went about an hour before closing & they had some decent options left! The cheesecake we tried is some of the best we have ever had & definitely will be back for more. The cupcake was lacking cookies n cream flavor but was moist & still delicious. Cute atmosphere, with swings as chairs to sit & enjoy your dessert. Staff was quiet but friendly. They had other dessert to choose from like Rice Krispies & cookies. read more

Gluten free carrot cake cupcakes?!? Need I say more?!? Amazingly moist and delicious.

Stopped in for national cupcake day. I wanted to celebrate with my mom. They have vegan and gluten free options. I will admit when I stop in I make a weird combination. Only the gluten free carrot cake is dairy free so that is what I get with vegan pb frosting. Weird combination but oh so good. If you order gluten free or vegan they do make them in front of you. They were busy when I came in so there was a bit of a wait. But I had fun looking around. They have a bookshelf of games so if you wanted you could plays games with friends or family while you enjoy uour cupcakes. There is even some swings read more

After checking out some breweries in the area, I stumbled on Molly's on the way back to the hotel. It was such a great find! The bakery was quiet and small, but has lots of natural light and people sat were seated in nooks or at a table. I loved the swing bar! Such a unique touch to the space and a fun place to sit and watch the action unfold. The creme brûlée cupcake was delicious and the perfect treat. read more

Excellent cupcakes - we tried the peach cobbler, cookies and crème and chocolate cheesecake and all were delicious!

I'm from out of state and I was staying at a hotel nearby. We had an early dinner next door at the Taproom and noticed Molly's cupcake next door and decided to try them out. They were so great we had to stop by a second time on a different day to share with more of our extended family. My favorite were the peach cobbler, s'mores, and the rice crispy treats. The inside is very cute with swings as chairs. Also has tables to accommodate groups. The service was great as well. read more

I am a big Mollys fan. Specifically their crème brûlée and their lemonade raspberry cupcakes (available in the summer or special order other times, like for my birthday which they graciously did!) and recently tried their cake, a little more expensive but worth it, STUFFED with deliciousness! We asked for a silly design on top for a coworkers going away, $5 extra for the design. The inside of the store is a cute place to enjoy your treat as well! read more

Molly's is not just cupcakes...They offer cake decorating classes and yes, we tried the class. They give an opportunity to pick your flavor (chocolate, vanilla, lemon, carrot. You receive three 6 inch layers separated by parchment paper and covered by plastic wrap when you walk in and you are asked if you would like a drink. They have a party room that they host the class. The room has a new apron for you to use and each spot has all the supply's you will need for the class. The instructor walks you through all the steps at the perfect pace. Wallah, in 1.5 hours you have a finished product! It was a really fun activity. They offer these regularly just check out the website. read more

Amazing kids classes with storytime and decorating. The cupcakes are so good and their prices aren't through the roof!

Wow. These have to be the best cupcakes I've ever tasted. I ordered 6 of them half an hour before closing so I was nervous they might be dry since it was the end of the day but they were absolutely perfect. The tops of the cupcakes had the perfect bite, the inside super moist with the tastiest fillings. What I enjoyed about them most was that they were not sickeningly sweet. I got the Crème brûlée, cake batter, pumpkin spice, chocolate decadence, carrot and red velvet. I'm from out of town but I'll be ordering these again when I return read more

A search of the best Scotcheroos in the Des Moines area led us to Molly's and we were not disappointed! We arrived on a Saturday evening about an hour or so until close, and they still have a such a great selection. The cupcakes looked absolutely divine! We were graciously offered a sample of their scotcheroo and of course it was delicious. We ended up getting a scotcheroo, 4 large cupcakes, and a mini. Throughout the next couple days we tried each cupcake and they were seriously some of the best cupcakes we've tried anywhere! And the scotcheroo was just as amazing! We cannot wait to come back here and try more flavors of cupcakes and to get another scotcheroo. Such a great bakery!! read more

We've been to Molly's Cupcakes in Iowa City but it's our first time in Des Moines. Thankfully, the standard is the same. My husband and I split the peach cobbler, caramel apple, and chocolate raspberry cupcakes. All three were a score for us! The peach cobbler is made with a moist, dense vanilla cake. The icing seemed whipped and airy, topped with a dash of cinnamon and a slice of peach. The entire cupcake was chilled. Absolute perfection. The caramel apple cupcake uses the same dense vanilla cake-- which, by the way, is quickly becoming a favorite for me-- and SURPRISE, is *not* filled with caramel. (Thank goodness because that would have been overload for me.) It is filled with homemade apple pie filling! Lots of yummy chopped apples and cinnamon (but not too much) that provides a nice texture. The icing might be apple flavored, I couldn't tell but my husband picked up little notes of green apple. Topped with abundant caramel drizzle. Again, this was a winner for us. Lastly, the chocolate raspberry cupcake. A chocolate cake with raspberry compote filling, topped with chocolate ganache and a fresh raspberry. It's similar to the Ron Bennington or Double Chocolate but with raspberry instead of peanut butter/butterfingers or chocolate. Scrumptious. On top of enjoying every cupcake, the customer service was stellar. The restaurant was clean, bathrooms included. We were extremely pleased with this establishment and our experience at Molly's Cupcakes! read more

Love this place. They now have edible cookie dough. My fave is chocolate chip and monster cookie. They also have ice cream too. Love the cake flavored one because it has pieces of cupcake in it with sprinkles. Yummy. During summer they have iced coffee. Cookies and pies are also available. You can order cakes in advance too. Cupcakes are delicious. Creme brulee is on top of my list of fave cupcake. All the flavors are delicious. Only downside is the parking. There is a parking lot, but all reserved. You have to find street parking. read more

This place is amazing! I had gone to their old location but the new one is even more spectacular. I came to get my cupcake fix since I found out about my gluten allergy and it fulfilled all my cupcake expectations. My brother loved his cookie monster cupcake. With one bite he was gone in a cupcake daze and I didnt here a peep till he was done. I had a chocolate gluten free cupcake and a raspberry latte. My cupcake was so soft and doughy just like any cupcake would be. Delicious and chocolatey with chocolate chunks in the cupcake too. They added a special gluten free frosting on top that was just as delicious and fluffy as any other frosting would be. My life is complete now. The service was exceptional as well the lady helping was very nice and accommodating. Definitely will be back before I go back to the east coast and everytime I'm back in town. read more

The service here is outstanding Surperb! The shop bent over backwards for me. I tried to return the favor when I was told they were out of my special order too. The shop design is so cute and appealing. However about the cakes themselves,I was surprised I got disappointed. The special filled cupcakes tasted dry and lacked flavor. The really strange was for my daughter Graduation party my friend brought regular cupcakes too and there was little or no filling that it could hardly be detected there was filling in these filled cupcakes. I give 5 stars for service. Hopefully though the company will look in to the way the their product is be distributed as "The Best Cupcakes with their format of delivery of expectation to their customers for the future. I had High hopes these were gonna be the pivotal part of the party. However, Jesse who spoke to me on the phone to take my order and who I met in person gave Exceptional customer service. Not only help me to feel welcomed by treating me like a friend and welcoming me back. Because of her. I might go back to see if there would be improvements made. I give Jesse 10 Stars for Supreme customer service. Customer's in the past years were always treated kindly to gain and keep their customers in the first place. So wonderful to see am employee with such fine integrity. Thank you Jess you did your part in making my experience wonderful! read more

I came here to buy a Molly but they don't sell drugs OF ANY KIND. Unless you count cupcakes AND I DON'T. For me this is a case of FALSE ADVERTISING. Anyway. This was the first location of this chain that I've ever been to. I absolutely loved it. It was amazing. A massive fan you could say. The decor was really cute with some nice stories on the wall and the service was just okay. I tried one of their famous cupcakes - the Creme Brulee - swoon - and it blew me away. Definitely five star quality, but I was very disappointed to find out they were a chain that's all over the place. Definitely a letdown. But since this was the first location I ever came to and since it was the best dessert I had in Iowa I will give it 5 stars, and recommend that everybody stop by and give the amazing creme brulee cupcake a try for yourself. read more

We ordered minis for our wedding plus a small wedding cake for us. The cupcakes were such a hit! Definitely don't miss out on this. We also get to come back on our anniversary to get a dessert instead of freezing our cake for a year. I wish I took pictures but they were all gone by the end of the night. read more

I made an order for delivery and everything was packaged so nicely!! The Peach cobbler cupcake was delicious!!! Super dangerous though as I may have a new addiction. My hubby got the Ron Bennington and loved the chocolate peanut butter. It wasn't overly sweet and that was a nice change. We also ordered the edible chocolate chip cookie dough and wow! It reminded me of my childhood and eating the less safe version in my moms kitchen! read more

Molly's cupcakes is a great spot for a yummy dessert! I've had a few of their cupcakes, which are good, and it's so cute that they sell edible cookie dough. But I keep coming back for those giant cupcake-shaped eclairs. So delicious! Don't forget to bring your own little Tupperware so you can skip on all that plastic packaging though! The inside is pretty cute and as long as there's not a kids party going on, you can find a seat and chill with while you treat yourself. Definitely recommend giving this place a try! read more
