I've now used Molly Maids for five different properties within the past six months. Each one of the properties had unique areas that needed to be addressed and I explained all of this with the operator each time. Every time the crews cleaned I was nothing but satisfied even receiving text messages from the cleaners asking if they should take care of different items that I didn't address in the conversation. When they arrived at each address I was notified and was given a text 10 minutes prior them leaving if I would like to come and evaluate their work. I have to say I've been really impressed and I was hesitant to call because of the reviews. I would like to state that I made them aware of what my expectations were in the beginning for each property. You can not expect a house cleaning company to do a deep clean when you did not request these services. I also would be pissed if I was supposed to come clean your home and you were too lazy to clean up your flour and dishes from making cookies. That's just beyond disrespectful for the cleaners who would also be human beings just like yourself. We had two girls come for my initial "deep clean". I was present the entire time they were here. After they left I did a walk through and found multiple areas that were missed. Took photos and sent them to the home office. That was two weeks ago and I have not received any communication from them. My home is lived in. Have never had a service like Molly Maids before. Their workers arrive within the time frame given and go right to work. Ethan and Kenna were friendly and easy to work with. They met all of my expectations and were responsive to requests. I felt very comfortable with them in my home. When they were finished you wouldn't know that I had any pets at all. This is the second time they came out. Angie, Ashley, Helen, and Deb Atkinson their field manager. Still did not clean the ceiling fans, or the cupboards, and did terrible job on the mirrors. We had hoped having a manager accompanying things would have been done correctly. we were wrong. I have worked in the professional cleaning industry for over 2 decades and currently the operations manager for a local cleaning company. In general I feel Molly Maid did a halfway decent job cleaning my small condo which was very dirty. They arrived on time, they were polite, professional and expedient. They did a very good job on my entertainment center. But they failed to get the small details done in other areas (see pictures), cobwebs and dust were missed, the top inner surface of my microwave was not touched but they did a good job on the rest of it. I'd say they cleaned most of what was accessible and I'm satisfied with the job but my standards are low. Perhaps if I gave them more detail as to what my expectations were I would have gotten a better job. I would describe the job they did as quick but not thorough. Evidently Molly Maid read my 2 star review and I got a call from them offering to send a different crew to my condo to clean the areas missed by the first crew and they did a great job this time. There were a few spots that they refused to do because they were not on the "list" that their management gave them to take care of on the return visit. Had I given a more complete description of what was missed the first time I believe those areas would have been added to the management's list and would have been addressed this time. My experience has been that the level of service received is dependent on the cleaning crew you are paired with. It made a difference that I was present during the return cleaning to point out what was missed by the earlier crew. I recently learned Molly Maid has a 24 hour promise/warranty and with that in mind I can see myself using their services in the future as the need arises. read more

I'm thoroughly disappointed with the service I received. I hired them to do a move-in cleaning and the only thing that was cleaned was the inside of my refrigerator. My power was out due to the recent storm in Ann Arbor, so I was aware they wouldn't be able to vacuum the carpet or clean the bathroom. I was fine with this and asked that they just deep clean the kitchen/dining room area. However, they did not sweep the non-carpeted area in the kitchen/dining room. They did not wipe down the countertops. They did not wipe down the stove top. They did not dust or wipe down the walls or baseboards. They DID rip one of my drawers out of the runners and break the runner entirely and leave both the drawer and runner hanging in my kitchen. They didn't notify me of this, and I found it when I got home that evening. I followed up via email the next day, then phone call. They informed me that the cleaners let the office know about the broken drawer as soon as it happened, yet I was never notified until I complained about the damage. They offered to send another crew or have the office manager come out to assess the situation. I was so disappointed by the original service that I declined. They finally agreed to refund my deposit (not the entire cost or anything for the damages) after a lengthy back and forth. I appreciate their effort to somewhat rectify the situation. I called to set up a cleaning for my moms birthday and they told me they vacuum, dust, thorough clean bathrooms, make beds, clean ceiling fans, thorough clean in kitchen, and standard clean. They were at my home for an hour only being asked not to clean a toy room and didn't do a bathroom as well as dint make beds or half of the other things they told me they do. Also took photos of the home for management on areas that were "cluttered " without me being aware and having children in the home. For mothers day, my husband promised me a cleaning service. Not knowing the going rate, he called up molly maid and scheduled a cleaning; $300 for a 2,000sqft home?! When he told me the price I told him that was absurd! He called around to other services and qas quoted reasonable fees of around $100. He called back to cancel, less than 24 hrs later and was then charged a $50 cancelation fee. Absolutely the worst customer service I have ever heard of. They obviously are not looking for new clients! Complete rip off, even if we had kept the scheduled cleaning. DO NOT BOOK WITH MOLLY MAID! read more

I was told they would clean the appliances, didnt happen. I was told they would clean the bathrooms, they dumped coment in the sink and bathtub and didnt even wash it out. I was told they would mop, the floor was left with some kind of sticky residue all over it. I had to re-mop and clean everything my self. They were quick to charge my credit card $250. They have a "satisfaction guarantee" but it has been 3 weeks since I sent them pictures of the job that was completed and I have heard nothing. I'm a slob. I admit it. It doesn't help that I also hate cleaning and am disabled, which makes the cleaning I hate doing even harder. My apartment is tiny but it doesn't take more than a few months for the clutter to get away from me. Pathetic whining aside, every once in a while I'll call a company and spend some money to help me get out from under myself. I couldn't find the name of the terrific company I used last time so I turned to Yelp and found these folks. I called them and told them up front what I needed. They warned me, "We don't do dishes and we don't have trash bags." I said I'd deal with dirty dishes myself and I had enough trash bags for the whole city. They charged me $65/hour and what I got was some good and some bad. My bathroom is pretty dang clean, and a lot of the clutter in my living room is gone. My kitchen has some very clean places and some not so clean. The person cleaning the kitchen used so much of some horrifically toxic spray (I swear, it smelled like oven cleaner) that even sitting next to an open window in the next room I was gagging. I specifically said, when they walked in, "Please do not try to use XYZ, it is broken." They both repeated me this back to me. A half hour later I got the complaint that XYZ was broken and this was causing major problems, and "they couldn't work". When I pointed out that I'd told them it was broken, they started making more excuses. Then they started to complain that my sink -- which was working fine just before they arrived -- wasn't working right. After they left I discovered that they'd managed to shove the strainer in the drain so tightly that it had broken apart. I had to pry it out. There were bags of (paper) trash under the kitchen table; instead of being removed other things were shoved in front of them. Some appliances were wiped down and others weren't touched. And they did one of the things that drives me most (further) insane: they decided to put some of my things in cabinets, but on the very highest shelves, where I have no chance of reaching them. [Fortunately a very tall friend of mine was over a few days later and he was able to rescue them.] I eventually manage to find the name of the company I used previously. Next time I need help getting out from under my own mess I'll be calling them. This company is too hit-or-miss. read more

I have used this franchise for a long time. Service has been worse and worse. I've requested they come before noon, to which they said would be fine. Twice now, no call, no people. When I called, they said they were so busy they got it mixed up, could they come late afternoon. Twice, really? All they did was damp mop the floors, and dust less than half of what was requested. I'll be looking for a different service. This is not the first time the cleaning was poor. They sent a couple of girls, my first cleaning with them, my aunt moved out and I needed the key areas done, bathrooms, kitchen, baseboards, and doors. 1st-they were 3 hours late 2nd-the girls were all of 20ish and acted as if they had NO idea what they were supposed to do, so they called "headquarters" and got no better answer 3rd-they proceeded to tell me we had orange mold (UH?) and they coudn't proceed until their manager came with proper supplies like gloves and masks, aren't they supposed to have these already? then they STILL did not clean the bathroom. I ended up doing it myself later. 4th-new crew finally came a week later at my request, proceeded to call their boss saying I was asking for walls, which I wasn't, then told me the doors wouldn't come clean, I did them the next day myself they came as clean as ever. I guess I should have my own cleaning business since I ended up doing it all myself in the end. NEVER HIRE THESE NITWITS!!! I wish they would have just given me my money back instead of sending another set of people who didn't want to work, the whole time the 2nd crew was here all they did was complain that they wanted to get paid too, and were on the phone with headquarters many times, all they cared about was being paid by a company that already got paid for shotty work. Molly Maid cleaned for me whenever I was too busy (or lazy) to do it myself. They always accommodated my schedule and the price was very reasonable. I've always been really happy with their service, and they have gone above and beyond to make sure I'm satisfied. Heck, they did a MUCH better job than I do.. I was somewhat skeptical about having someone in my home cleaning, which is why I ended up going with them. They came highly recommended and they're bonded and insured. I felt a lot more comfortable having someone reputable around my possessions, as opposed to some random cleaning person. (Which I made the mistake of doing before and got burned.. that's what I get for trying to save a few bucks) I REALLY wish I still lived in the area.. I miss coming home to a clean house!! One of the worst home cleaning service providers. They cheat people. They charge your card without telling you..even after you have paid them . They dont put the trash bags on the trash can..they just want to run quickly . They wont even arrange the papers if they are lying around saying its not mollymaid ready. Be aware never use their service. The service ladies are so arrogant dont talk properly. They wear shoes and walk on the beds if they are kept down.and if asked they didnt dust here..they say we had cleane dit but it got dirty again. read more

Used these guys for a while last year when I was traveling quite a bit, and was overall pretty happy with them. They were reliable, very friendly, not too pricey ($75 / 1000sqft), and easy to schedule. On the downside, there were times when I walked through afterwards and caught things they missed. Bummer when you're happy with your freshly-cleaned house and suddenly see something like that. I'm trying a private service that I got through a friend, and MIGHT tell ya'll about them if they're good. (then again, I might want to keep that one semi-private for awhile) :) read more

Since my last review, I called Molly Maid to let them know how displease I was with their service. They offered to send someone out that day to fix the problem, I told them we had already taken care of it so they offered to send a new crew for the time we already had booked for the following week. The new crew was fantastic. They are sweet and detail oriented and do a great job too to bottom. The only thing I would say that I don't like is they don't get under the bed, on any of the ledges on our doorways, or the tops of our fans. Not a deal breaker but it would be nice. Since having our new crew I we decided to stick with our weekly Molly Maid service. The price is awesome and our new crew rocks! read more

The shower had hairs, the refrigerator had spilled liquid stains. So I called customer service to complain. They could care less. On our third visit my husband heard one of the women say she didn't have time for this $!@# as they entered our home. They then cleaned a little in the kitchen and left after 35 minutes. I'm not actually sure how they managed to stay that long... They didn't even sweep and they didn't attempt to clean either of the bathrooms. We had been making cookies the night before and had not cleaned the baking supplies off the kitchen table and island, so I didn't expect the counters to be clean, but the sink, floors, maybe skip to a bathroom if you felt you couldn't clean the kitchen. When I called to discuss this with a manger I was told I'd have to pay for the kitchen cleaning at least, and since they hadn't actually cleaned my kitchen they offered to have another team clean my house. I don't feel like it should be my job to screen their employees, supervise them, or monitor how long they stay and I would not let them in my home again. In the end I was forced to pay for them not cleaning my home. It makes me sick to my stomach. read more

Paid $280 for a move out cleaning for an apartment and the fridge, oven, as well as the cabinets were not cleaned. When I called to ask for a refund, the manager was very nice however they would not offer me a refund and only offered a small amount ($50) of credit towards a future cleaning. They did offer to come back out to clean again however I had already moved at that point and my landlord had already arranged for other cleaning services. Would not recommend this service. read more

My husband won a Molly Maids gift card from work, and we had used them right before we moved into our new home to clean before we moved in. At that time, we were satisfied with the clean but were not ready for a regular commitment. With the holidays coming, we knew that we needed a deeper clean for our floors, wooden stairs, and bathrooms. We called to get an appointment, and scheduled one for Saturday the 19th. We were going to be attending a wedding in Indiana and would be out of town, but had trusted Molly Maids previously to come to the home while we were gone and were satisfied with how that turned out, so agreed to do so again. When we left the house, both doors were locaked, a key under the mat for Molly Maids. I know for a fact the back door, to the side porch, was locked because I used an additiona; spare key to lock it, because I had used my keys to start the car to warm up the engine. SO. We get back from the wedding at 10pm to find the back door WIDE OPEN. The red wine on the counter was cold, like it had been in the fridge for hours instead of just on the counter. We call 911. We're waiting in the car, with our baby, trying to find out if there is a person or persons in the house, and I am thinking, just what the hell happened here today? The police come, clear the house. Nothing had been taken, and luckily the cat was still in the house and hadn't run off. The door had not been forced open or the lock messed with. I call Molly Maids to let them know what's happened. I get a call this morning, and they assure me that no one used the back door. Or opened it. They came through the front, yadda yadda, didn't need to open the door. To which I call shenanigans, because I locked it myself. No one else came to the house. If I locked it, and the door was not forced open or jimmied (and nothing was stolen), then how else did it end up open to the elements for what appears to be hours? Meaning the furnace was on, pumping full blast, for HOURS. They claimed to not be able to find garbage bags in our house, even though multiple sizes of garbage bags are in a set of shelves by the above mentioned back door. Which makes me think that they opened the door to try to find garbage bags and failed, and then didn't latch it properly. I would have given the team that came 4 stars if they hadn't failed to latch and lock the door. There is no other explanation for how the door was opened. Would not recommend. read more

Initial consult was most professional. Day of scheduled cleaning: I stayed home to meet them. No show. Didn't call. Didn't email. Then, at 1:00pm on the day of the scheduled cleaning, I finally got to talk to someone after three attempts. I was told I had to be more flexible about scheduling. I was told this an hour after the agreed time frame. The agreed time was 8:30-12:00pm. I had booked the first cleaning with them four weeks prior. Like big moving companies, they overbook and drop newer customers who aren't considered to be profitable enough if bigger jobs book closer to the date you, the original client, set. I'in back to looking for one person who works for herself. Like big moving companies, if you are lucky enough to get a good crew, it's worth it but it's not likely. read more

I scheduled a move out clean the day before I was to take pics of my house to put on the market. The maids showed up and declared I had received "a good team" that day for my clean up. They proceded to pour Ajax all over my bathroom and then went back to their car saying "they weren't on the clock." I then received a call from dispatch saying the maids weren't going to clean my house. I had just had carpet installed on Wednesday the 10th. The "maids" were at my house on the 12th so all they had to do was clean the tile floors. They left in their car never saying a word to me. To be fair Gina the manager for Ann arbor offered to send another team out, but I had already scheduled a new maid service. I got the feeling that it was Friday and the "maids" just didn't want to work. Just completely unprofessional. read more

Molly Maids was terrible every step of the way. * They didn't bring the proper cleaning supplies so they used ours without permission. * The cleaning was awful and after coming over two times there were still many things missed. Their own cleaner said, "yeah the last cleaners missed a lot."- I suggested the manager or owner should come out and look at their twice over cleaning to see if they would be happy if it were their home but they declined to come out. They hide behind "we can send another crew out" to keep from ever actually inspecting the cleanings of their own workers! This is a clear disrespect of me and my wife's time - because we need to be there each time and then look over what they did. * After many failed interactions I called and Shauna, in the Ann Arbor office, recommended I speak to the owner. She said they would listen to the recordings and get back to me. A week went by and they didn't call back. I called again and left a message with the owner. Nothing. I called again and spoke to Shauna and she said I should leave another message with the owner. I called one more time hoping there was a mistake or miscommunication of why I didn't get a call back - and still nothing. It has now been I month and I can see they clearly don't care about my feedback and this is an empty gesture. I have now discovered that this is a chop shop/scam that doesn't care about customer service or how well the homes are cleaned. I've been using Molly Maid to clean my house for many years and have been pretty happy with them. The few times there has been a minor issue, they have been eager to address the situation. They clearly strive to provide good service. For example, today I asked the crew who cleaned my house to pay particular attention to certain areas of my house to prepare for an event that I am hosting this weekend and they did a great job. But later, the crew changed and things went downhill- they started showing up late on many occasions (several hours late ) and probably the worst part was that once, I unexpectedly returned home while they were cleaning and caught them eating food from my fridge without permission. read more

We used Molly Maid for 2-3 years. There were enough reasons for us to want to cancel their service a few times (not answering calls, inflexible, sending new teams without informing, rude staff, $$ etc), but each time I thought of canceling, a new team would seem better and I continued, just to avoid the hassle of shopping around again for cleaners. In their last visit, they broke our shower door hinge, making the shower unusable. What was even more annoying is that they refused to acknowledge this mistake when I called them. This was my first experience with Molly Maid and Lia and Shayla from the Ann Arbor Molly Maid had to work in some tough conditions today. We are really under the gun to get an office building ready our tenants tomorrow. These girls had to cleaning while a construction crew laid carpet, painted walls and was doing other types of construction work. It is like a 3 ring circus in there. They never missed a step and keep a positive attitude through the whole horrible experience. Even when the painters started blasting their rock music. After about 4 hours the place looks pretty darn good considering the construction crew is doing their best to undo half of what they did. I would not hesitate to call Molly Maid again and will probably be using them after the tenant move in to keep up the common areas. These ladies are hard workers and never stop smiling!!! read more

We used them for nearly a year. They consistently missed things. For example they never swept under my couches, even though there is a wide enough gap to sweep. They rarely vacuumed my couches, and they frequently failed to mop the floors. More than once I had to do extra cleaning after they left. We finally cancelled the service. read more
