The inside is unique as we discovered the outdoor rooftop eating area after several stairways and tight turns. The restaurant area is surprisingly large. We ate in the upstairs outdoor area which was charming. For my order, I tried to order the scone meal but they were out of them so I got the bacon and egg sandwich on a brioche bun as a backup. It came with two hash brown triangles and was fresh and filling and very yummy. My dining companions had the Veg Cockney which is a full vegetarian breakfast and another had the Eggs Scotland (Eggs Benedict with Scottish smoked salmon). I tried a bit of each and enjoyed them. The Clarence Court Leghorn Eggs they use have a brilliant orange-ish yellow to the yolk and I swear they taste better than the ones in the States. Clientele are your white middle class regulars together with some of the young locals. Most keep themselves to themselves but I've occasionally sparked up a genuinely interesting conversation with an unsuspecting stranger in here! Family and kids-friendly with a little play area to keep the tots occupied. There is a bit of a local rivalry with nearby Moka- my take on it is that Blend is better for the coffee aficionados but Moka wins on ambience and range of eating options. Both are excellent options to while away your weekends in good company!

I was on my way rock climbing when I saw this cafe as a convenient place to wait for someone and have a tea. As I walked in, I could see that it was cramped in space and I was trying to move the table around to manoeuvre myself into the chair while the waitress stands from across the room and just stares at me. She later walks over and I ask for a tea but didn't have cash on me. As I was settling down, she mentioned that there is a £1 charge on the card. I thought, I'm not that desperate for tea to pay £3 for what would be P&G in a mug of hot water. She looked at me dumbfounded as I searched for coins I hoped to cover for my the tea but with no luck, I grabbed my stuff and walked out apologising. Even though I was sorry, I felt very uncomfortable walking out of the cafe as I got stares and an unsettling vibe. I don't think that's how you want to tell someone "it's OK", maybe don't roll your eyes at a customer? I thought.

I tried their Spumoni ice cream sandwich and immediately fell in love with it! (Spumoni = cherry, chocolate and pistachio) Most recently I hosted an event for 75 people and I decided to treat everyone to an ice cream sandwich for dessert. I worked with Matt (the owner of Fink's) and he recommended we order two flavors: Spumoni (of course) and Salted Caramel with Caramel + Peanut. This kind of scene automatically induces a reflex to grab my iPhone, open the Yelp-App and bookmark the place. So, the following week I returned and I found the place to be definitely less empty (it was a Tuesday morning around 8am), but no less charming than I had hoped it would be: in fact, this is yet another example of a truly fantastic independent café in London! The waiting staff is very nice and they didn't even flinch their eyes when I ordered just a cup of coffee and then sat there for a good 1.5 hours...working away on my computer and enjoying their free wifi!
